well technically its not done yet. But i got married and moved out so now my brother and my dad are finishing it, we started when i was 13. My dad is only home for like 1 week every 6 weeks, so working on it . The motor is working, almost all the parts are still original. The interior is black leather, with white accents. The stuff i didnt get to do was paint the outside and help install the engine. But school is more important than any car so i dont mind.

well since i don't want him knowing that i am here quite yet, i want to surprise him with all my new found knowledge, i will tell you, but in private message only, if that ok(i know it sounds childish but i'm sick of being treated like i know nothing) and he just got on of the fi 12 inch btl(i think thats it name) i am sorry if it wrong anyway and he got a new amp by sa2-2000d(thats what the box says) and it was heavy You are awesome. why am i so awesome? Not very many wives, girlfriends, mistresses, etc would go this far to learn something that interests their husband. I just think that you taking initiative to learn all this is really cool. well ya he is trying to learn how to shoot archery so he can come hunting with my family and i, so i figured i would try to learn this so we have a summer hobby together. and he is horrible, but he is trying and i understand how hard it is to learn something that is completely foreign.

ya my husband blew his first amp. poor thing didnt stand a chance but he said it was because there wasnt enough power going to it from the altenator. his altenator had to be replaced because well it smelled bad, and was really broken.

My husband was talking about wiring his amp to 1 ohm stable. So if ohms are the measure of resistance how can amp be wired to work with different resistances.

thank you for fixing my picture. I know it sucks my computer design doesnt deal with paint. anyway so i had the picture right then. so what does it mean to bridge an amp?

i am having some serious picture issues so instead ill just try to explain what i think. A parallel circuit is positive to positive on one side and negative to negative and then those are attached to ends on something right?

we did my speakers together after i blew them, all of them. But thats different. It was way easier.

well i learn way better by "teaching" or physically doing the activity, but my husband wont let me touch anything other than tools, be god forbid i wreck something. But i have tried between classes and work. I have completed half my education degree, and now working on tourism marketing degree. I usually read books out of the library when i have breaks.

so, as girly as this will sound. ohm measure basically how hard it is for an electrical current to travel through conductive material. right?

well to answer your question. first I'm female. So that would rule out his brother. And yes the box he is building right now is only his second complete build, but he re-fubrished his old box he had used for his old sub. He is really good a problem solving and finding budget friendly ways to build without cutting down quality. And i'm not related to him either.

Well the question i have tried asking so many times and still don't understand is about ohms. What are ohms? what does it mean when something a #ohms stable? He tried showing me the wiring diagrams that are all over this site but I have never understood schematic diagrams.

Hello. I joined this site as a favour to my husband. He is always talking to me about car audio this and that and I will be honest. I only understand about half of what he is saying. I have spent the last few months reading threads and information from his account, but when i ask questions i get more confused that before I asked. I really want to be a part of his hobby, and want to understand so maybe i can climb up the helper ladder from "go find my the square screwdriver" to "help me sauder this wires". I sort of understand ohm's, how to build a box(help with that lots), i understand how cars themselves work(i have been a car fanatic since i could walk) but amplifiers, and how to wire speakers, sub and how to bridge and all the technical stuff that can make or break a stereo, really confuse me. I am not asking for people to spend hours telling me and I don't think they would anyway. But I would ask that if I ask a question not to treat me like a newbie girl, I'm not stupid just very confused. My husband does not always understand that. Thank you for reading this long post.

How did you guys find SSA???
I didn't really find the site. My husband has been a member of this site for a few months. AS he is extremly into car audio and all things related and I really want to attempt to understand what he is talking about, I thought maybe if i joined to, and read and learned from others, I might one day be able to help and understand half of what he says.
