Leviathan question ...
Yes, will be plugging RCA's into 5+6 inputs. So FLAT button out to use the on board LP crossover on channels 5+6 output bridged, right?

Which crossover would you use ...
EVERY person that has told me that changes their tune instantly when hearing a properly setup 2 chn system. With no exceptions. Be careful thinking you know what you want without experiencing the other. In particular since your request was for SQ. OK, well I know what rear fill does to sound stage and such but the reason I even mention SQ is because before I posted anything on this or any other mobile audio sound forums I read a lot of post. It seemed like when anyone was asking for advice on a new set-up like I have been and am planning the question of what are your end goals came up. Often asking is it SQ or SPL. In my youth I would have answered SPL. Now that I am a bit older I know I would put SQ over SPL. The only reason I even decided to pretty much overhaul my whole sound system in my brand new vehicle is because the stock system sounded mediocre at best. If it had sound pretty good, then I probably would have just added a sub and a sub amp. Anyhow I know there are some serious sound enthusiast who consider them selves audiophiles. If I had the time and money for equipment and to tune etc. ect. I too would most likely evolve into this type of audio enthusiast. For now I just want some better sound. Not necessarily loud so everyone a block or two away can hear it, but so I can crank the volume up on occasion for myself while I'm in my car and have it sound good while doing so. BTW I experimented with driving around, as was suggested somewhere, with only my front speakers running. The fader was set forward all the way. So after a week I went back and was like wow. I miss that kinda surround sound I was getting with all four doors playing the music. I just prefer and like rear fill. I'm pretty sure I know what I want and my OP was about crossovers, and which was best to use. The amps or the DSP's. Anyhow thanks for your input. I have changed my mind quite a few times while building and buy the pieces to my new system, and recently have decided that I will save my pennies and try the JBL MS-8. I have heard a lot of good thing about it. BTW having rear fill while using the MS-8 is pretty much essential to the Logic 7 function it has if you don't have a center speaker. Thanks again everyone!

Leviathan question ...
So I will be using channels 5+6 bridge into my sub. So as long as I am not using and low pass filter before the amp into channels 5+6 and I want to use the Leviathans crossover, then I should make sure that the Low pass button is up as well as the FLAT button. Correct?
-
Leviathan question ...
Well there is a low pass filter button next to it. It is somehow associated with the low pass filter switch but I just don't know what it does. The manual says this, which is a clue as to it's function but I really don't get a clear answer from this: "Run all six channels in FLAT mode. This will enable you to use an outboard processor of your choice including our upcoming full tube electronic crossover." Hmmm ... Anyone?
-
Leviathan question ...
I am sure this is an easy one. I don't even know if it's a dumb question but ... On the ZED Leviathan amp, what is the FLAT button on Channels 5+6? What does it do on and off? I see it has something to do with running channels five and six in low pass, but that's the extent of my knowledge as to what that button does. TIA

Which crossover would you use ...
That's how we took it too. OP here ... and yes that is correct. No intention of going active. I am going to sound deaden, baffles on the door speakers I probably already have to do because the OE size is for a 7". As far as having two sets of comps. Well I know many audiophiles don't use rear stage BUT I like it. Always have. BTW I got Bravox comps in the group buy so it save me $ and I got better speakers than I would have without the group buy. BLESS YOU SSA! I am a guy with a new car that has a not so good system in it and want to upgrade the sound. Not for SPL but for SQ. I am on a budget, and don't plan on entering any competitions or anything like that. IF I had no limit in $ then I would go all out and do everything a true audiophile would do, BUT I think I am a wanna be audiophile. I actually think that's not really a bad thing. Anyhow, you folks gave me some ideas and I will do what I can. I know whatever I do I am going to try and do it right and get the most band for my buck. This forum is great I tell ya! Hahaha

Would like to get into a SSA Dcon
Nice just read through that thread a moment ago... So I'm biting on the ported theory for this setup now.. Obviously you have the means and skillz in order to create this kind of beast of a box. I have a Camry so I guess I could go this route without an issue. I guess I was getting my head filled with the idea of a smaller box and saving some space. I don't want to go to my local shops, as cool as some of the guys are I've never actually seen a box that I thought was worth the money they charge.. Where do you suggest I look for a box besides the Khaotik available here... ??? Yea, okay you've got me going now...lol... So besides the Khaotik enclosures here, where do you suggest I look for a box??? +2 on Argent Audio. I am having a box built by them to SSA specs at the OPTIMAL dimensions and tuning for the 12d4. I saw his handy work on Cocooks83 and was sold. The Khaotik boxes look awesome. The single ported box is just a little bigger than recommended and tuned a little higher also. However if you ave the room I'm sure they would sound awesome w/a DCON in them.

Which crossover would you use ...
I guess I just see that both of those pieces have a crossover, so I will use one. Either the one on the ZED amp or the one in the AC LOC. I just wonder simply which one is best? Is one better than the other? Does it even matter which one I use? It's the equipment I have available an my starting goal was a budget friendly SQ system. Just need to crossover my two sets of comps an my sub. Simple as that. Don't know if that tells you anything to help me make my decision.

Would like to get into a SSA Dcon
Agreed. Superbly efficient in the 300-350w range of power. There are several reviews and youtube vids w/folks running these subs in this range of power and getting incredible results.

Which crossover would you use ...
So If I have the ZED Leviathan amp and the AudioControl DQL-8, and they both have crossovers. 1. Which would you use, the crossover in the ZED amp or the crossover in the AC DQL-8's? 2. Why? BTW the Leviathan and EQL-8 are going into two(2) sets of Bravox Audio CS60K components and one(1) SSA DCON 12D4. Please don't recommend anything other than the two crossovers available in the two units mentioned. TIA!

Longboard Island Lager
I can't compare it to anything really. It is a Lager so it's not as hoppy as a IPA. If you want lighter and still some hops taste then try it. Don't know if you have Bevmo in Minn. but they carry it. Might be a westcoast thing. Thanks for the suggestion. Might I also suggest something. Also a west coast thing. Try this ale called Arrogant Bastard. As they say, it's a AGGRESSIVE beer!

Longboard Island Lager
Just bought a sixer and there is only one left! Longboard Island Lager is the bomb! I've had it straight from the bottle and wasn't sold. BUT poured into a beer glass ... WOW! What a difference. This beer is tasty! Spicy hops, malty goodness. Yumm!

APR Flash ...
I'm not sure that the APR I'm talking about and the one your talking about are the same APR. Anyhow the Tacoma APR-X1 is bad ass. I was going to get a Tacoma 2 yrs ago but went GTI instead. Still want one though!
-
APR Flash ...
No the stock #'s are not conservative. Like johnecon2001 said APR is very good at what they do! The 2.0T engine (FSI and TSI) that VW builds is a great engine to begin with. I have a '08 GTI ,which now that I have my new CC my wife drives. Talk about a fun car to drive! The CC performs well also. It just feels more "grown-up" compared to the GTI. I recommend VW cars to anyone. Unless you can afford a Audi or better yet a Mercedes. German cars all around really.

Opinions on a few amps
Just curious what reviews you were looking at. Got any links? This thread got me a little worried... it appears Steve "fixed" the real problem, but there are other little things that just shouldn't be with a new amp (referring to the board being longer than the chassis, etc) Zed Audio "Leviathan" my take on it.... - DIYMA.com This is the review where it exceed rating at 4ohm stereo, but fell a little short on the others: audio gear reviews - Amplifier Review - ZED Audio Leviathan The 4ohm stereo power is more than enough, but the bridged and/or 2 ohm power, isn't that great, considering it's not even making it. I was also looking at a couple mmats amps. Really wanted to go with one, but for not "too" much more than the leviathan I could have a SQ4100 and M1400. That would give me slightly less power on the four channels, but a lot more on the sub. And they make all their amps in the grand ole US of A! On your second worry about 2ohm bridged loads. The manual is a good read. More like a tutorial. Anyhow here is a quote: "WE ARE ABSOLUTELY 100% AGAINST THESE LOW IMPEDANCE LOADS. There is no reason to run a “daily driver” or SQ system into these loads. The aim is quality after all and not sound pressure. The ego trip of boasting that you have “x mega watts” in the car is just that,an ego trip and serves no other purpose besides boosting the ego of the owner. This give a bit of insight about their philosophy. BUT there is a lot more interesting info in the manual. Here is the link check it out. It really is a good read: http://www.zedaudiocorp.com/PDF/ZedManual-A.pdf If your looking for SPL then maybe this isn't your amp. If you want SQ, efficiency, cool running, power saving amp, then the ZED is he one. It is for me! Good luck.

Bravox Audio Group Buy
I sent payment last night via Paypal! Buying two sets of CS60K. I am spending less than I planned and getting more for my $ !!! Question though: The $ has not been deducted from my account yet. Will I get verification that I bought what I bought w/shipping time estimate? Thanks!

APR Flash ...
Man the guys over in the VW forums would kill me for spending money on car audio before any performance upgrades, BUT I just got my 10' VW CC R-line and need to break in the engine 1st. HOWEVER this winter when my engine is broken in I am flashing the cars ecu w/a APR Stage 1 flash which will give me 250HP and 294TQ (stock is 200Hp, 207TQ). I will also give the CC a Carbonio Intake which should give me 10+ HP more I believe. Can't wait!

So I have a question: Which would work best with the ZED Leviathan amp??? It puts out 150w continuous at 4ohm per channel. I am looking at the CS60D AND the CS60K. I assume the CS60K because of it's higher power rating: 80w nom. 160w MAX.
