12 Sundown E8s
Thanks man, I ran that by my box designer, so its a go. Im also going to flip the box so (6) 8s and the ports fire toward the rear, and the remaining (6) 8"s will fire towards my trunk lid. Im really curious to see how this turns out, but the build wont start for at least a month or so. Got to get the holidays behind me and make time to work on the car, I work 11 to 7:30 am

Thanks for that Jon. Inside of box And heres a few box designs, first is for 8 8s but I would drop the box size down to 4 cubic feet net and rear fire the ports if I went that route. And heres the box for the 12, only way to do them since the face wont have enough room for all 12 8s. Let me know what you guys think..

Yours was on my mind, my friend. I thought about that today when this came up. Seems to be working out very well for you. I might try it anyway with the port rear firing and see the results. Whats the outside measurements of that box? We have almost identical trunks, thanks to Ford.

I did have a question for you guys though. If I go with (12) then I got to fire them and the port up toward my trunk lid. I only have 25" of length and 42" of width max to play with. Im going to have to do 4 rows with (3) 8s in each from the front of the trunk to the back and that would put the port right up against the rear trunk wall without any real room to breath. I can still go CRX style with this setup but again same issue, that why I wanted to fire the port up. If I drop it down to (8) subs, then it wont be an issue anymore, can just do subs up, port back and call it a day. Box would be smaller too. But, I like the idea of having all those subs pushing air in my car. What do you guys thing? Input?

I hope so Denim. I mean, how many people can say that they have (12) 8s ported in there trunk right? Lol. Just want something that will sound great as a daily driver at high or low volumes. My RL-p really spoiled me on the sound im looking for. I can say I have 16 sealed at the moment, in a trunk. Where did you think I got the idea from in the first place? Lol. I was considering 16 sealed at one time myself, but I would have had to do 8 firing up and 8 firing toward my taillights. I was concerned about cancelling issues with that setup, but i imagine it would be nice. Yours seem to move quite well from the vids you have posted. Im looking forward to that being complete.

Thanks for that, and thats very impressive with only 150w. Im considering dropping it down to 8 subs so I can run a smaller box and retain my spare tire. I would still feed them the 3000d just keeping the gains low, and to have a little headroom . Im hoping 6 cubic feet net @ 30hz for the 12, will give me a nice flat response across the board with a strong low end.

12 Sundown E8s
My car is currently in the shop awaiting repairs from the recent break in. Since I have the time and I have not posted on this forum before, (I think) I was just wondering how you guys feel about these little guys. Should only need 6 cubic feet net ported, and have almost the cone surface are of (4) 15s Just considering something different for a good sounding daily that will drop low and get fairly loud. Power would be from a 3000d of course. Almost forgot car is a 2004 Ford Crown Vic seen here, old setup, just to give you an idea of how big the trunk was, that box was 4 cubic feet net tuned to 28hz I would have to do subs and port up, but I did that with my single RL-p 15" and liked it better than sub/port back so that doesnt concern me. Just would like to have some feedback from the forum if this seems doable, ive never run 8"s and im kind of curious. Want to break away from the normal, (2) 15s, (4) 12s etc and do something different. Thanks.

loud noise from speakers all of a sudden...
Honestly, that sounds like the classic "Pioneer ground issue". My 6000UB is being serviced at this time because of that. Improper install on my part caused a short and boom, horrible ground noise. Grounding the RCAs in the rear helped, as well as using quality RCAs, but it was quite irritating.

RL-P 15 D2 Box design
3.5@ 28hz is nice. Im currently running 4.0@ 28hz and it sounds good. Hits upper frequencies well and digs low very well. 32hz would be a better tune IMO if your looking for a lil more output, but 28hz will give it to you as well.

My doors
Here are the doors in my 2004 Ford Crown Victoria, Driver side, dont have a current pic of the passenger side but its basicly the same. Im just curious how much i should order to cover the inner and outer skin of the doors with (2) layers? Doesnt have to be a exact number just rough estimate thats all. This will be my first time using a sound deadning product. I plan on using roofing flash to cover the big holes. My drivers (ID oem 6.5s) will be in fiberglassed pods in the bottom of the door panels. Thanks.

Back pack speakers
Interesting thread. Alot of good points made by the older forum members. DSB, I really like your creativity and drive to do something different with your free time. It honestly reminds me of when I was your age, trying and getting crazy ideas for car audio, long before I could drive. However..... Keep the backpack at home honestly, and spend some money on a good set of headphones and I think everyone will apperciate that . You have a promising future in home or car audio, but just like Jim and numerious others have mention, just need a push in the right direction.

Directed 2400D vs. Orion 2500D
It still does over 1kW at 2, right? 1700@ 20hm according to AmpGuts Thats still 850w a sub, considering their RMS is around 1000w, I think it would push them well.

SSA Icon 10" Test Enclosure (breaks 140db @ 24hz!!)
Could this design be applied to a larger sub in the Icon line up? Perhaps a pair of 12" or a single or pair of 15"? Excellent enclosure by the way, quality work.

Recone for a TC9
Thanks man I really apperciate that. I bought some today and applied it to the sub, trying to give it 24 hours to hard dry. That stuff is thick lol. I still was curious about the recone though, even if this work for down the road or if I aquire another tc9 motor...

Recone for a TC9
I have a 15" Soundsplinter RL-p thats in need of a recone. Sub works fine, just the cone is starting to seperate from the surround. Tryed CA glue and it worked well for a while, but its coming lose again. I was wondering if a recone was possible for this sub. BTW, I sent a email to Nick a few weeks ago, but didnt get a response, so I decided to make this thread to possible get a solution. Thanks.

Help with enclosure choise for single RL-p 15
Well, I got it all together and figured I would post some pics if anyone is interested And a couple of vids, didnt turn out like I liked, but sounds fine to me. Sub sounds wonderful and is very loud, almost everyone that hears it is hard pressed to believe its a single sub. Considering I have less that $325 total invested in the setup, it works out very well. Thanks Mike for building a very solid performer

Help with enclosure choise for single RL-p 15
Settled on the 4@ 28hz enclosure and loved it, however, the surround on the RL-p started to come loose from the cone Def not the subs fault, its pretty old and I bought it like that a while ago. Any ideas to fix it or should I be considering a recone. Sub still works fine.

Help with enclosure choise for single RL-p 15
I have a guy on CA.com thats going to build me a box for my single RL-p 15. I told him from several recommendations, 3.5cubic feet at 32hz. He has a box thats 4 cubic feet tuned at 28hz thats already build and good to go, (ive seen it as well) Which box would you choose? Sub is a Dual 4 wired to 2 ohm, powered by a Kicker ZX750.1. I listen to alot of music, but love old school R&B and rap if im in the mood. As always any feedback is apperciated, thanks.
