Avalanche 18" sub recones?
PM me your zip code and I will get you a shipped price. I don't think AA has the CF dust caps, but they have the 'Ascendant' dust caps. Brian

Fi BL 18 port reccomendations!!!!!!!
80 inches of port area for this driver would be nice, you could get away with 60. Did you already buy it?? Sounds like you need the 15" version. . .

Fi BL 18 port reccomendations!!!!!!!
80-100 inches of port area is enough, but 3.6-4 ft does not sound good for box volume on an 18. . .

Help with Fi x12
2 ft tuned to 32 Hz. you can build a slot port, or use a single 4" areo port.

4 FI X12"
Looks good.1700 watts will kill these drivers, so be carefull.

Overpowering BTL
I ran the BTL in 3 ft tuned to 34 Hz. Sounded awesome.

Riddle
Heard it before. . .took me a little bit to figure it out the first time.

Riddle
Ask one computer which door the other computer would pick, then go out the opposite door.

Tuning box below manufacture's Fs
Fs is not a "recommended" frequency. It is the resonant frequency of the driver in free air. It is definitely OK to tune below this frequency. If you go too low, you can get dips in the frequency response, but 32-35 Hz for the BTL works great.

Need 6.5 Midbass
Keep in mind the AA mids are 7", not the standard size 6.5" or 6.75" mid. They are awesome mids/midbass. I ran mine from 57 Hz to 2350 Hz with the active XO's in the Kicker SX amps. PM me a zip code and I will get you info on them. Brian

Behavior of Woofers at and around tuning.
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Acoustics/Bass-Reflex_Enclosure_Design "This forms a Helmholtz resonator (click here for more information). Physically, the port functions as the “neck” of the resonator and the enclosure functions as the “cavity.” In this case, the resonator is driven from the piston directly on the cavity instead of the typical Helmholtz case where it is driven at the “neck.” However, the same resonant behavior still occurs at the enclosure resonance frequency, fB. At this frequency, the impedance seen by the loudspeaker diaphragm is large (see Figure 3 below). Thus, the load on the loudspeaker reduces the velocity flowing through its mechanical parameters, causing an anti-resonance condition where the displacement of the diaphragm is a minimum. Instead, the majority of the volume velocity is actually emitted by the port itself instead of the loudspeaker. When this impedance is reflected to the electrical circuit, it is proportional to 1 / Z, thus a minimum in the impedance seen by the voice coil is small. Figure 3 shows a plot of the impedance seen at the terminals of the loudspeaker. In this example, fB was found to be about 40 Hz, which corresponds to the null in the voice-coil impedance."

Re Cone For RE Audio HC Quad Coil
Will need what size HC to get a quote. Difference in price to send it in vs. getting a kit is just the difference in shiping cost. Shipping to Fi and return shipping. If you have not heard from Nick yet, PM me your zip code and I will get info for you. Brian

can you put a 7 groove belt on a 6 groove pulley?
The high output alts are borderline turning on with standard size pulley's on many vehicles. I have to use a set screw to mechanically increase the idle RPM on my suburban to keep the alt from shutting off at idle. That was before everyone started using smaller pulley's. I bet you eat through belts with it hanging over the edge. Might be better to look on the Goodyear website to find the equivalent length belt in a 6 grove and try that. The belt hanging over the edge cannot be good. I woudl think an unused grove on the rest of the system woudl be better if it does not cause everything to slip. Best solution would be to have the smaller 7 grove pulley on your alt. . .but I take it no one makes one?? If not, the standard size 7 grove and manually increase you idle RPM. Brian

New Project
In the last couple of weeks. . . New Lokar Nova throttle pedal and V-8 cable kit. New Monroe rear air shock kit. New fuel tank, filler neck, sending unit with 3/8" pick up, and new 3/8" fuel line. Mr Gasket Scoop air intake with K&N filter. Trunk mount battery relocation kit. New ignition switch and key cylinder (previous owner did not have the keys). Summit Racing 2.5" Turbo Mufflers. Complete weather strip kit. Should be able to take it for a drive around the block in the next few weeks.

Do you smoke?
Grew up watching my mom and dad sick all the time from smoking. Dad had a heart attack and died 7 weeks after his 50th B-day, mom had open heart surgery at age 51. Both from smoking. . . Bad deal. If you have never tried it, just keep it that way!!!

old btl vs new ?
They came with 2. The 3rd slug was an option.
-
old btl vs new ?
I gained .7 dB with (4) 15's on 14000 watts going from 3 slug BTL's to new single slug. Both were long coil, dual 1, and dual 1 daily gap. If you buy the old used model, make sure you get good pictures of the tensil leads to make sure they are in good shape before you buy. The BTL's have so much excursion, people are bad about slapping the cone into the spider landing, which kills the leads. Brian
