  1. PM me your zip and I can get you AA pricing.
  2. Wrong. They are glued together, no cooling there. XXX has small gaps, but the BTL does not. Less shipping damage with 4 segments. When you actually build your own subs, you can buy them in segments and assemble them in house before magnetizing. . . edit - that is less shipping damage of raw magnets, not fully assembled BTL's
  3. PM me your zip code and I will get you info on AA products.
  4. Why? BTW. . .did you notice that is a 2 slug motor?

You can recone it to a 12", but by the time you buy the recone kit and basket, it is cheaper to sell yours for a loss and buy a new 12". An 18" should go pretty fast on the forums. brian
  6. 4 ft will work great. You need 55-60 sqin of port area. So H x W of the port = 55-60 sqin. Figure out the port size, and then use a calculator to determine the length for the tuning you want. Once you know the port H x W x L, you can determine the port displacement (how much volume it takes up in the box). The Net volume (4 ft) + port displacement + driver displacement = the gross volume of the box. The INTERNAL dimensions of the box should be sized according to the gross volume of the box. Brian

You need 8 cuft NET volume with around 120 sqin of port area tuned to 33-34 Hz.
  9. Voltage holds at the battery voltage. no way a single 250 amp alt is keeping up with all of what I have. . . I t holds at 12.6-12.8 for several minutes without any problem. I like the mechman, but I might go with DC power next time I build. Brian
  10. No problem. Give me a call if you have anymore questions.
  11. The only way those frequency adjustments would only affect the individual drivers is if you have them set up on crossovers correctly. How are the speakers connected? If they are on amplifiers, you can adjuct the crossovers on the amp to remove bass from the smaller speakers that are not designed to handle bass. Tweeters almost always need some type of passive crossover to keep from damaging them (unless you are running a full active setup, which I will assume you are not). If you are running the speakers striaght on the deck's power, you could add passive crossovers (even just a single capacitor) to the smaller speakers to reduce the bass going to them if you have a sub.
  12. My Dad was a welder for 34 years, I have never seen insulation crack on any welding cable he used. Day after day of being dragged around on concrete, dirt, over steel. In the sun, in the heat, in the cold, rained on while rolled up on the trailer. Major abuse nad no insulation problems. Maybe you got bad cable. . . I have purchased welding cable from cable yard. Good stuff. Bought my 4/0 from ebay and now it is even cheaper!!! You can get 30 ft for under $100. Brian
  13. I like driving around with shooter's muffs on. They don't work as good as foam ear plugs for me, but they look REALLY cool.
  14. Subwoofer frequencies are long wave lengths. Even a half wave of 100 hz is over 5.5 ft. Not going to get standing waves in a sub box unless you have a dimension over 5.5 ft. i.e. - Build the box and don't worry about the golden ratio. . . Brian
  15. (2) flares, a 17" tube, and (2) connecting rings to connect the flares to the tube. Brian
  16. I have seen the proto on scotts desk. No q magnet there. More like double stack btl magnet.
  17. Pair. . .
  18. If you are a member of the SMD forum - I was nominated for June system of the month! Please go vote for me! I need more sound deadening material for the van!!!! Thanks! Brian
  19. First video on iPhone 3GS. Forgot I needed to rotate the phone. Also learned it does not like LOUD bass. The music is very clear, but the phone mic could not handle it. . . For those that notice - one sub is not playing. Issues that will be fixed this week!
  20. so get a pair of aa carbon fibers. . .
  21. Did you not like the midbass of the poly? If you ran the cabon fiber from 65 to 200 Hz, I think it would be awesome for midbass. Brian
  22. I liked sub and port rear in my SUV. Others will disagree. . . You have enough room. 100-120 sqin of port area is enough. Example: 20" x 5" port x 19" long gives you 35 Hz tuning and 7.4 cuft net.
  23. Show turned out small, but was fun.
  24. You have got to be kidding. . .
