  1. I have been to TBP a few times, also mainly compete in USACi Street Beat. My suburban score of 157.2 @ 36 Hz was in the kick with window open 4". Still does a 154.8 @ 36 Hz sealed on the dash. All scores using TL. . . .
  2. I just bought two more. . .
  3. Hi!!! I am in Denton!
  4. BKOLFO4 replied to MP3's topic in Ascendant Audio
Yes I am. It will be the last competition for the suburban. Bought a 1992 Astro van yesterday - just in time for the two additional 40.1's I bought last week.

Sweeeet. Man I want PowerMaster batteries, but I am broke

I am back in town! Replied to all PM's. If you are waiting on a reply and did not get one from me, please send another PM. . . Thanks! Brian

Sorry guys. In Seattle. . . .Did not check PM's yesterday. I think everyone is good now. I will get all new quotes out first thing Thursday morning. Brian
  8. Post up all the dimensions. . .box and port. Did you try lowering the crossover point? I run my home subs from 50 Hz and down. Brian edit - and if it is mainly for music, I would tune the box higher. . .say 25 Hz
  9. Man I just took the (4) avalanche 15's out of the sealed boxes last night to start on the new ported boxes Brian
  10. That should work. I'll draw something up in the morning.
  11. that is not 8.8 ft - those are external dimensions. 31.5 x 19.5 x 20.5 = 7.28 ft^3. Subtract driver and port displacement and it will be less than 6 ft^3.
  12. I think the Fs is much lower for the SSD, so in the correct box, it may peak lower and sound much louder playing music. . .that would go back to a BIG part of loudness being install dependent, which could be the difference you heard in your comparison above. Comparing the loudness of two system, even at the same power level, is more than just the sub's efficency rating. Heck, the same woofer in two different installs and/or vehicles with the same amount of power will more than likely end up not being the same loudness. The point is the higher efficiency of the BTL shows that while it will handle more power, it does not have to be driven with it's full RMS to easily be louder than other Fi subs at lower power levels when installed correctly.
  13. First one does not have it listed, the second one is 89.4 or 89.6 depending on the coil config. Spl: 89.4dB 1W/1m | 89.6dB 1W/1m edit - was the old BTL listed in the 95 dB range (from the bladeice website)?
  14. We are all here to learn. . .still learning myself. Like I said, that does not mean the BTL is for everyone, but if you have a true 1000 watts, that is a lot of power to drive just about any sub to a respectable level. Brian
  15. edit - Man this thread is moving fast - in response to Audio neon above: You are correct, we have to assume we stay within the limitations of the driver. There are also other factors that would make big differences in the overall performance. Driver Fs is a big one. Not to mention the install itself makes a big difference in the actual SPL and what we hear. I have said many times my (4) 15's "sound" much louder playing music than my (2) 18's did (and they were both MT's on the same total power). Metered within .2 dB of each other - but the 15's peak 7 Hz lower making a BIG difference in how loud they sound playing music. Brian
  16. Taller or deeper better for you? If you could go 33 x 21 x 22, you could get a decent box for the single 18. Brian
  17. That could very well be. It was not the RMS rating of the subwoofer, it was the efficency of the two drivers. One was more efficent. If driver A has a 94 dB 1w/1m rating, and driver B has an 84 dB 1w/1m rating, driver A will be louder at 1 watt, does not matter how much power each driver can handle.
  18. x2
  19. You still missed the point. You don't need that much, he just runs that much because he wants it louder. The point is that comments like "you don't want to run a BTL because you only have 1000 watts" or "you only have 1000 watts so run a BL not a BTL, the BTL will not sound good with only 1000 watts" are false. I am not saying the BTL is the subwoofer for all applications, but the reasons some people post for not using a BTL are incorrect. Brian
  20. HAHAHAHA Man I say it time and time again. I love the way the BTL sounds, and you don't have to have 3000+ watts to run one! Brian
  21. If those are internal dimensions, then you calculated the correct gross volume. If they are external, you only have 5.5 gross volume. Take away driver displacement, and you have 5.25. A little small by the time you get a port in there. Can you afford a pair of 15's sealed? Brian
  22. Man I am glad my suburban has held up so far
  23. I am not with Fi, but I was on the phone with Scott when you posted this, so I asked him. . .BTL edit - Posted at the same time as Nick. . .
