  1. You guys should worry about more important things like the olympics.
  2. There are lots of subwoofers available in that price range. What are your goals? What amp are you planning on using? What are your enclosure restrictions?
  3. ......eerrr...wait....what? bikini babes would be much better!
  4. Slow progress on the front stage but getting there. Wrapping the front baffle Resin applied
  5. I would think it would either be a wiring issue or maybe the right hand sub is very nrear the port and it is unloading??? If the leads are fried I would htink it is a wiring issues. If the spiders or triple joint failed I would think it could possibly be an uloading issue. I very well could be full of shit
  6. She never asks
  7. Read the product descriptions, that should help answer your question about differences been models. Click on the sub menu "products".
  8. Nice looking ride! You are going to hate your stock mids and highs once you get some bump in the trunk
  9. You are doing very nice work with this car! Good job man!
  10. Very nice looking build.
  11. Nice pic. Would be sweet to have that pic taken with a hair trick.
  12. I never said the Z.3 was MADE in the USA, I said it was BUILT in the USA. I never bashed the ZCON or any other product in this thread, It is not a driver for my goals but like I said it all depends on your goals. Since you two clowns misread the op's post here is his quote "So not really looking for someone to help me pick a sub just to tell me any experiences they may have had with these subs, especially if you've used both and any thoughts, suggestions, concerns you may have." I posted exactly that. No slandering of SSA or any of SSA products. I posted facts and my thoughts on my experiences with SSA products and Sundown products. And since you brought it up, SSA products do have China produced parts in them. The Z.3 from Sundown has China products in it as well and both are built in the USA. M5 we can make every thread on this forum a battle ground if you like.
  13. What its your SSF set at? Use winISD to model your driver in the enclosure you have and tuning you desire. Adjust the signal level to whatever wrms you are using. Now look at the excursion graph. This is what I use to help set the SSF. For instance my Z.3 was tuned to 29hz yet my SSF was set at 23hz. I used winISD and visual examination of the driver while playing to determine this. For a design goal having an emphasis on playing 25-35hz range I would use as much port area as possible tuned as low as possible. Subwoofer and port orientation always plays a big part as well. Most guys never nail it on the head the first try. It usually takes a couple enckosure designs to get the best results in your vehicle. More subs will not necessarily play lower but will give more output.
  14. A wise young man told me to try a keep port velocity under 25ms. Model different port sizes in winISD and come up with one that suites your requirements and port velocity under 25ms.
  15. Yep yep, me too! The 18" Z.3 is sold! Soon it will be time to install two 15" Z.3
  16. You can get either a .5 ohm load or a 2 ohm load with a D1 subwoofer
  17. Haha it doesnt matter bro. No dsicrimination here
  18. Thanks. How do you think the z will stand up to that power. Would going .5 ohm and giving it 2700 clamped be overkill? Between the zcon and the z which do you think would take the power better? And you tell me any more about your experiences with them. Anything at all, box builds, power, metered results etc. I'm so far leaning heavily on the z size but it kills me to know jacob only gave it a 1500 rating but you as well as other say much more is fine. Reminds me of my audioque. Even in an oversized box the rms was way to low. I am running a single Z.3 18" on a DD M3a and I havent had any issues at all. Give it what you got. The Z.3 is a "sql" type driver whereas the zcon is an "spl" driver. Completely different sound. As you see some people are happy with the way the zcon sounds. In reality it is the complete opposite of an sq driver. It all depends on your goals. For instance : optimally the Z.3 15 needs 3 cubes net of enclosure space, the zcon 15 needs 5 cubes net. Expect almost double the enclosure size from Z.3 to zcon to get the most out of those subs.
  19. I have owned all three. Z.3 is my top pick based on blend of sq and sheer output. 1. Z.3 great sounding sub, can get crazy loud, handles lots of power power, smaller enclosure requirement 2. XCON sounds good, medium size enclosure 3. ZCON SPL driver, more of a peak at tuning than the other two, handles lots of power, less musical than the other two, largest enclosure requirement. All three are built in the USA
  20. Change cancellation to interference and it is even easier to understand. At a bar at noon on Monday. I wonder what you do on Fridays. Wow, short sighted are we? ...imagine that. Flying to Germany today to lead an international meeting. A few drinks makes sleeping on the plane easier which in turn makes the jet lag minimal. You dont have to explain your drinking habits to me. I might drink at noon too if I didnt have other responsibilities.
