  1. Prolly 90% of consumers buy subs to get loud. Manufacturers build to sell. My only grip with sealed is low end extension. A sealed enclosure will be the smallest (for a given response shape) and will have good low frequency extension but may not have the best low frequency extension. If space is limited, this may be your best choice. A ported enclosure will generally have a better low frequency extension for a given response shape (alignment) but would require a larger enclosure. If you made the enclosure as small as the sealed enclosure but ported it to gain the low frequency response, the output would deviate from the desired flat response.
  2. Whats up with the trailer queen? Not drivable? Nice trophy. Where is the rest of the competition?
  3. Not too sure why you need a second battery with your system. Are you wiring your subwoofers to a low impedance? A 240 amp alt maybe just enough for supply your vehicle and amplifier's need. Doesn't matter if an amp is 10 watts a channel or 1000 watts a channel proper gain adjustment is always necessary. Set your 200.4 gains accordingly.
  4. I have wondered how that worked well. Arent subs suppose to reach/exceed their mechanical limit below tuning?
  5. I see that Fi recommends ported enclosure sizes for a 15" SP4 from 3^3ft to 5^3ft. What will be the differences between a 3^3ft ported enclosure and a 5^3ft ported enclosure with a single 15" SP4? Tuning freq and power (2k-2.5k) the same. Your options are, high efficiency, low end extension, small enclosure size; pick two. Apply that law to Fi's recommendations and you'll answer your own question. That is a good general summary. Specifically what will be the difference between 3^3ft and 5^ft? I.e. 3^ft offers small enclosure size and...... I.e. 5^ft offers high efficiency and.... Low end extension is derived from tuning frequency. Or am I missing something? ...so...... 3^3ft offers a small enclosure size and low end extension? 5^3ft offers high efficiency and low end extension? What is the difference in efficiency between the two enclosure sizes and 2k-2.5k power?

  7. These subs look great! If I needed 10"ers these would be the ones
  8. I have not owned a D3100. I did own a D5000 and a D7000. I recommend a D5100 over the D3100 for a few reasons. 1. Higher ISO ability (helps for really really dark shots when slower shutter speeds when needed, could be the difference between getting a shot and not getting one) 2. Higher MP (helps for tight cropping while maintaining higher dpi<----better printing) 3. Bracketing function (bracketing allows you to take multiple exposures at a time which is beneficial for HDR and other reasons) I am sure the D5100 has better ergonomics but I haven't looked in to it.
  9. Did you have kicks in the Hyundai? Have you ever moved your leg around and noticed a difference in sound? I am in the "tuning" stage with the Hyundai. To answer your question, I do not have fabricated kicks but have tested speaker placement. From my testing I can very easily affect high frequency ouput with the tweeter mounted low. Therfore affecting stage height. Do you feel otherwise?
  10. I doubt I will be the first but hopefully I will have a review to post on this bad ass sub in the future
  11. @stefanhinote I would rather deal with glass reflections than leg deffraction/interference Some of the best mid/tweet kicks have attenuated tweets dash mounted too. PITA IMO
  12. I will also add that unless you plan on extensive door modifications or kicks, stick with your two-way.
  13. So imagine sitting beside a enclosure, that is to your right, that has two midbass drivers in it. On left channel, one right channel, each facing opposite directions. In this scenario both the left and right channel drivers are to you right. Really going to be a localized sound that will ruin your soundstage and any chance of decent imaging.
  14. If you want a realistic soundstage and decent imagining then this is what I would do....
  15. Good job man!
  16. Sorry to hear about all of your alternator headaches. Commonplace. Hopefully the new one fits and works great! If Mechman made one for my car I would have it installed already!
  17. Looking titties bro. You might want to add a small description before your pics so we know what we are looking at. Did you get the Fi Audio SP4?
  18. I use P3 RCA connectors. I bought about 30 of them over the year. Quality control is great and the connector looks great. I would expect a good product with any P3 connector. Cost wise - midline. surely you aren't talking about these? http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?Partnumber=263-212 No doubt man. They work great. If you have a problem with them then you f'd up!
  19. This enclosure is going to be epic. Doesn't matter what brand 18" sub you put it in, it will be loud as balls! Very anxious to see this finish up and to see the rest of the system.

  21. That's a lot of sheet metal flex
  22. The e8 is a lower power handling and less excursion compared to the sa-8
