  1. MTX 9500's won't take 3000 watts daily, FYI. And that's at the limits of the BTL's capabilities for daily, you have to be smart about it.
  2. stratusrt01 replied to jep's topic in Sundown Audio
You need another Sundown then, give that sub what it wants!!!!!!!!!! A pair strapped on it would knock.
  3. I run both a 100.4 and 100.2 in my car, and I'll tell you, they are great amps. Definately underrated, and nice, clean sounding amps. They outclass the Memphis M-Series amps that they replaced, both in power, price and performance.
  4. I ran 4 1500's and a pair of 10's and achieved a 149.5 in Pro Trunk class, back seats up, legal on the dash. New setup is going to consist of 4 3000d's and a new subwoofer for all 4 of them for burps.
  5. Lumberton here............... too much fun. welcome to SSA
  6. once my batteries get here, I'll do some clamping. I wouldn't want to kill an amp or the single kinetik 1400 that's in my car right now.......lol
  7. packaging looked perfectly Jacob, not a mark anywhere on the amp boxes.
  8. W00t. Ill be callin them tomorrow finding out. Any chance you goin mang? I'll be there, I've cleared the schedule, unfortunately, the car won't be done, but eh, I'm praying to have it rebuilt by finals, at least.
  9. I believe there's another one in 2 weeks there.
  10. Nice, Clean and Simple, just the way it should be.
  11. Once someone gets caught in a bold lie, they normally disappear.
  12. 149.5 to be exact on my install............Now, that may sound low, but lets look at my setup and the rules of Pro Trunk Class: My setup was 4 SAZ-1500's on a pair of DD 9510's........10's, not 12's or 15's..... I also only had 2 Kinetik 2400's and a 1400 up front, and the stock 85 amp alternator. NSPL Pro Trunk requires you to have your rear seats folded up during competition, they have to be latched into place. Now, 149.5 doesn't sound so bad under those circumstances, does it? Trunk guys can appreciate the seat up vs. seat down situation.
  13. drive your happy self up here, and I"ll give you one, I've got a few laying around, doing nothing, still in the factory bubblewrap.
  14. Jacob, I believe I will have a Z1a in stock to play with here in a couple weeks, if DD has any. Their customer service is so poor, it's hard to tell when we'd get it though. I can do a real world comparison between the SAZ-3000 and the Z1a once we get the Z1a in. No big deal. I think that's a much more realistic test, even though IMHO, the Z1a is a lot more expensive, it should definately put out more power, point blank. And Wagonized, whoever you are. I work for a dealer who carries both Sundown and DD, and get both at cost. I could very easily be running DD amps. Every speaker in my car is DD, down to the tweeters. I choose to run Sundown for the reliability and the customer service. We only have one DD amp in stock because every one we get comes back broken, and DD won't repair them in a timely manner. BTW: One of my SAZ-1500's clamped at 1820 watts at .7 DCR, so I don't know where you get that they don't do rated power, that's just a load of crap.
  15. Z1's are incredible amps, no doubt. Until the break, which they will, and it takes a year to get it repaired by DD. A lot of shops that carry DD are just carrying the subs and picking up an amp every now and then because of supply issues. The shop I work for carries the entire line of DD subs, and recommends Sundown amps to power them.
  16. yeah, that's Corey Anderson.....
  17. Most of the shows are Mount Olive, Roanoke Rapids, Lumberton, and Dillon, SC. A little drive, but worth it.
  18. hahaha going threw the same crap right now! A local shop here is a DD dealer, and he got the same response from her, and he places $10k-$15k orders. Bad business right there, if it wasn't for DB Drag, they would never survive. That's why I'm glad Jacob is awesome to deal with.
  19. now I just have to scrape the old one off and replace it with this one.
  20. yeah, that's it, although it's just a motor right now, I sold the upper assembly and ordered an 18" upper assembly, although it's going to be about a month before the cones even come in to TC. That's ok, I have a ton of fiberglass work to keep me busy right now.
  21. I know a guy that waited 6-7 months for repair on his Z1, that kind of turned me off of them, although I have owned them before and they are great amps, but DD's customer service is absolutely horrible, especially when something goes wrong. Their secretary is absolutely rude and unhelpful, she told me I had to call back because she was too busy to take my order.......
  22. I think Stratus hit it dead on the nose. But I would put customer service and reliability as #1. You can have 10,000 watts but what good is it if it dies after a few burps and you can't get a hold of anyone to try and resolve the problem. I was more referring to that an amp meets my power needs, if I don't need 10k watts, there's no use in having 10k watts. But yeah, customer service and reliability are the 1st once you decide what power you need.
  23. 1. Output- Amp has to match what you're trying to do 2. Customer Service- Can you talk to the people you need to when the time comes 3. Reliability- I can't have a lot of downtime, couple this with #2, and when things go wrong, you have replacements quickly. 4. Flexibility- If I change up, can this amp change with me, is it strappable, impedance capable, etc etc. The more options, the better for the future.
