There is a reason the manufacturer put a bracket there. Ask DC if they will put this in writing and if they will warranty any issues that arise because of it.

That's quite a change there. Size and watt wise yes, output very similar with less power. T12 lights are going away or so I was told by the lighting company I buy bulbs from. I would love to do a nice led rack, but price is an issue for doing that. We did a lot of T8 retrofits ay Sears and used T5s for jewelry lighting. Those lamps suck for people with large hands.
