  1. So nice out! Aside from the wind and clouds.
  2. I woke up this morning to heavy rain and thunder. Look outside and pretty much all the snow has melted!!!!!!! It's currently 45 out. I hope it stays like this the rest of winter. I hate the cold/warm/cold/warm shit we always get.
  3. you mean C&D batteries? also what does UPS stand for... pardon my noob-ness the only think i can think that ups stands for right now is united postal service lol I believe it means Uninterrupted Power Supply. You would be correct. The NSB batteries I have used in the past were shit, but I got them cheap as hell, so we used them. Replaced them all within a year and that was without being used more than testing for 30 seconds every month and a 90 minute semi-annual drain. C&D and Lithonia are all I use now. These batteries can not take a constant charge. Once they are full you want them removed from the circuit, then a low amp charge as needed. They can not handle current inrush or voltage spikes either.
  4. I use these batteries extensively at work for emergency lighting and very large UPS. Would never even dream of using them in an automotive environment.
  5. I got a $100 gift card to Lowes for Christmas, so I went today to get some new smoke detectors and a door bell. Well, you can not buy a door bell in kit form unless you want some cheap ass POS wireless shit. You have to buy the chime, switches, cable, and transformer separate. WTF?
  6. Do NOT do that!!!!!!!!!!!! Unless this is a POS car that you don't give a shit about and you never plan on removing the enclosure, do not use expanding foam. Use fiberglass.
  7. Run it sealed and leave it sealed. About 250 watts is all it will handle. Maybe slightly more, but I doubt it. Short 2" coil.
  8. High tomorrow of 52!
  9. 44, 85%, 40 here. It's melting snow too, so YAY!
  10. I've probably had 30 Optimas in my life. I have had a total of 3 bad ones and all had internal shorts. Normally that wouldn't bother me, but they changed the warranty several years ago and you now have to return it to the original store you purchased from or call Optima and go through a huge hassle to get an RMA to return to any other dealer. Aside from that, I've never had an issue with them and I always find them to be the cheapest out of all the others mentioned in this thread. You just have to know where and how to buy.
  11. Yay for Sean! I keep seeing trucks and wanting one. Then I see gas prices, but I really don't pay for fuel, so it isn't too much of a concern. And then I look at trucks again. . . . And then I realize I don't have any money. . . And then another bill comes. . .
  12. I remember back when JL was beginning. They were much akin to SSA. A fact that makes it even more impressive is they didn't have the internet back then to grow their business. Everything was word of mouth and the small amount of advertising in magazines. They've always had great products, always will. I would snatch a brand new driver at that price point no matter the opposition. The best thing about the W7 is it's resale value. You can buy that driver, use it for a couple years or more and sell it for the same $400 you paid for it. Simple economics wins here. Now the beauty about SSA is the personal one-on-one support and detail. YOu can't call and talk to Manville anymore, but I can tell you he is just as enthusiastic as Aaron and Mark. The small internet brands allow us to have more of a relationship with our vendors and get some awesome technical support at drastically reduced prices. You never know; one day we could be comparing a mainstream SSA driver to a small internet brand. I can recall a short while ago a company by the name of Resonant Engineering which was a small internet manufacturer.
  13. I was simply stating how people put too much emphasis on it, when in actuality it is not always needed.
  14. The big 3 is always a good idea, but it is too over-hyped. You do realize this same wire is carrying over 500 amps while your car is starting yet you don't see manufacturers putting 2/0 in the car to handle that do you. The fact of the matter is, That alt will very rarely, if ever, be supplying 270 amps, much less be doing it at a constant rate, so many times stock wiring is fine.

Do they auction off Hummers? That would be awesome! I know many go to a holding yard.
  16. I love the Xb and the Cube and the other boxy utilitarian vehicles. I love simple designs for a specific purpose. With that being said and having ridden in and driven and Xb on several occasions, I would NEVER spend my money on one.

Dammit Jordan, I was expecting titties.
  18. I believe he means he has to re-train them how to act properly.
  19. To be quite honest, shit like that is why I don't stray from SSA. I have a hard time dealing with subjective answers myself. I thought you were implying I am beating a dead horse and should stop...which is somewhat true, but at this point it is sheer amusement so I will continue to beat on it until it gives. Someone needs to do it.. Yes I agree Sean is very good at it. Yes you are beating a dead horse, but you need to make sure people know the difference between Voo Doo and Real Measurements Unfortunately on that site which is full of idiots and has a few idiots moderating, you are going to get nowhere. Wait, what site? A site that you are a mod on.
  20. Where is the rev limiter in that bitch? All I saw was shifting at 7 and a red 8. I had no idea they wound out that much. Nothing like a big engine screaming at high RPM.
  21. BTW, 2 cubes sealed, 1.5 sealed and lightly stuffed with polyfill and you will be able to throw the RMS at it and a little more.

  24. CF as in Carbon Fiber? If so, what is there to re-finish? Unless it was covered in paint/clear, there should be nothing to re-finish. http://forums.evolut...rbon-wings.html yes, clear coated will be applied. I'm in a love hate relationship with CF... Some cars it can look so awesome.. but some cases it looks like rotten asshole. I love the look of Kevlar though So much misinformation in that thread, but yeah, you can not just throw clear coat over the CF. You don't just throw paint on fiberglass do you? You have to bind it with resin first. I can't believe the factory vendor did not understand this.
