I agree. With that high of voltage, you won't notice a difference.

midbass/midrange drivers
What exactly are you looking for out of the drivers? A certain range would be nice, and what is the intended application?

anyone want to help out a n00b with box design?
Don't pay much attention to the computer modeling graphs on widely available cheap or free programs. They are not too accurate. Even my $200 program is way off. You just can't simple rely on a computer programs "estimated" response. The higher end programs (read espensive) such as LEAP are very good, but also very pricy. I'd do a search and see what other are using and go from there, or start with the manufacturer's suggestions and tweak to your liking. I have had great experiences using Pioneers recommendations as a base and tweaking them where needed. The Manufacturers DO know their products well and their capabilities.

i swear i can never make up my mind...
Dayton always has good drivers, but IMO, the driver is new and unproven. With PE's rep in the DIY world, you can guarantee many people will soon have their hands on these and will be posting enclosures, reviews, and graphs of all kinds. I would wait until seeing all the hard evidence before buying and unproven driver right off the bat. It's cheap, but the RL-I right in line with the pricing and has more than proven itself a tough customer. My vote goes to the RL-i.

question on new setup / TA
I'm confused. You said you want 4 way time alignment, which would necessitate 8 channels stereo, yet you keep talking about 6 channels. I don't think there is a head unit out there that is setup for a 4 way system. NOw with that being said, you are also talking about handling the X-over and EQ duties outboard of the HU with external processsing, so why evern bother worrying about the capapbilities of the head? If I'm missing something, let me know, but it seems to me you're trying to make this more complicated than it should be.

Damn, I hope my money comes through! Me needs 15s!!!!- Welcome to the IHoP
That would be a hell of a shipping charge to you! Maybe they could drop-ship literally. Like you see from WWII with the little parachutes on the crate! You'd have to run out and catch it.- not exactly a "which is louder"
Personally, I think you have a basshead problem. Those two 15s have more than enough displacement potential. And they should be ver effiecient with the power you have on tap. As far as the other drivers are concerned: The Avalanche is no longer available according to Chad. The Magnums, while being my favorite, are going to need more than 2.6 cubes for a pair. Way more. They'll also POSSIBLY necessitate another amp. A final 2 ohm load will yield only 600 watts on your amp, and while 300 per driver is plenty for me, from your description, it seems as though you will require more power and output. The RL-S, while we all know how well the other versions perform, the newest driver is still an infant. The capability is there, but I personally would not shell out $500 on a driver that is unproven yet. I would wait til that proto gets passed around and have some time to play with it, so I knew EXACTLY what it likes, dislikes, and performs. I love personal experience over anyone's word. Hell, I'd almost say the same thing with the new Mags, as they are a 100% new design compared to the old, but I am biased. So maybe take all that with a grain of salt, as I somewhat contradicted myself, but I just wanted to state my opinion. I think you should first look at ways of improving your current setup before spending any money on new stuff. That's how I always go about it. It's cheaper, and you are already well-acquainted with your current equipment.- Welcome to the IHoP
WE LOVE YOU STEVE!- Welcome to the IHoP
sorry to hear that man, what did they tell you It's all good; I knew it was coming. My boss asked me if I wanted to work up in the office doing estimating, but no way in hell I would ever sit at a desk all day working on a computer and filing paperwork. Going to see a guy tomorrow about working at a rebuild shop for starters and alts. That would be such a perk. Thats sweet you already have a job interview. i know what u mean when you can't sit in once place and stare at a computer screen. Maybe you can give some discounts to the SSA members for some altenator installs??... If that happens, you guys will definately be reaping the benefits along with myself. I have a few other things in the works that are more lucrative as well, so I'm actually hoping those pan out. Only time will tell. - I want a sticker....
