Engagement Ring
Age means nothing. I dated a girl the last 3 years of high school and was ready. Had a ring, then that went South. 18 years old, passionately in love and ready to spend my life with her. I still love the girl to this day, but the engagement ring made a nice downpayment on my first Mustang.

Welcome to the IHoP
I think this guy I sold the Damplifier to is trying to screw me. What do you guys think? Notice, he sent an Echeck once. I told him I could not ship until it cleared so he asked me to refund that and he'd make a normal payment which he did, now he claims this, "hi i am sorry to bother you but it seems as though you have recived two payments for the $85.00. there is one payment for a straight $85.00 and then there is another payment in the amount of $40.48 threw paypal. and then another payment in the amount of $ 44.52. the two payments of $40.48 and the $44.52 equal and additional $85.00 you have recived. could you please check your account and let me know so i do not have to contact paypal and open a dispute. thank you very much ....................A. Miller"

What's missing in this industry?
I agree for the most part, but you have to take into effect the dealer's position. They are there to make money first of all. The MAJORITY of their business is going to be drop-in replacements, add-on accessories, or something easily removable. Not many are ever going to get a customer that wants the extreme install whether it be on the SPL or SQ side. If they want to venture into this side, then I think they will do what needs to be done in the form of education and personnel. People like us are a rare breed to the dealer. While we may seem vast, there is an even larger number of consumers who are not savvy on internet brands or even the basic knowledge of what really goes on with their equipment. Dealers really don't cater much to people like "us." They simply don't need to. The dealer also needs to just be educated and concerned with the lines they are selling for the most part. This is the bread and butter of their business and this is why they concentrate on that, whether it be JL, RF, Kicker, whatever. Again, we're going back to the monetary side. Of course the JL dealer is going to say his product is the best. That's what he sells. That's fine with me. I have the option to NOT buy. If the price of the W7s were equal to that of their internet counterparts, you could damn sure bet, JL would be selling even more. The big problem with the internet is that people get hyped up on something and a bandwagon starts. You can sure bet Adire and RE sold a lot of drivers just based on the size of their motors and beastly looks of the drivers. America is still under the influence of "bigger is better," and consumers are reacting to the bigger. You can see this better with amplifiers. The average consumer goes to buy an amp and sees, "1000000watts!!" They've already made up their mind that this is what they want, no matter what someone tells them. It says that, it must do that, right? How could they put it on there if it doesn't. Society is stupid. Basically it comes down to knowledge and the fact that the majority of people whom deal with shops are uneducated and that is where they will cater their business to. They are there to sell their product and provide the service for it.

Welcome to the IHoP
Thanks for the info! My father used to own a couple garages so I do indeed have some experience with the computer side. Home and personal computing is another story, but I am VERY familiar with the Snap-on scanner, have limited experience with the Tech2 and Ford's STAR I believe it is called. My buddy worked at a GM dealership and I've been able to have access to some dealer equipment the normal public is not priviledged to. The funny thing is, I've yet to rebuild a carburetor, but I know my way around EFI very well. Sign of the times I guess. I'm done BSing and when I do something, it's all or nothing, so hopefully, I can follow in your footsteps and excel in school, then follow that into the industry. ON a side note, BMW and Mercedes are offering programs where if accepted, they will put you through school, pay for your tools, and offer a starting salary of minimum $75K. That's tough to beat even spending $30-$40K on schooling. Hopefully my venture with Toyota will prove promising. I personally feel they are going to be pretty much taking full command of the automotive industry in the next 10-15 years.

Got a problem, need some help
Try and find a blown one, then send both in for a recone. The new soft parts along with the old motors are quite a major improvement over the old drivers, let alone with the new motor.
