  1. I'm not even going to bother. Everything has been laid out clear as day in my other posts. If you cannot understand from reading them, I can do nothing more for you.
  2. Goodnight all.
  3. Worse.
  4. Almost forgot, I usually am very partial to the modeling clay for everything as it will conform to ANY shape, sticks in place and will add quite a bit of mass. And it's CHEAP.
  5. Well, it's kinda hard to answer your questions really. When I build kicks, I generally build the enlosure to suit either: A. the flattest response B. the best response throughout the specified frequency range. If you don't need a driver to produce XX.xxx frequency, why make an enclosure that will. Now this is easier said than done, and most likely just complicates things even more, so I suggest a simple modeling program like winISD or BassBox to get a general idea. Or simply calling the manufacturer. As for tuning the best way IMO is to use your ear. That's going to be the judge in the end I myself try to start out flat, so if I have access to an RTA and a mic, I will take advantage of it. Then I'll adjust from there. Everyone's taste will vary though. ME, I can easily do without a subwoofer and actually rarely use one nowadays. I like a very STRONG,almost overbearing midbass. Take it how you will, but the best way to do it is to just keep playing until you're happy
  6. Anyone ever had to go buy Tamps for the woman??? HOLY CRAP is all I'll say.

for some reason, the circular flame border makes you look like a vampire to me. anyone else think so? MAN, that's Fed up! I had that same feeling when I first saw that in IHoP! Reminds me of that movie The Lost Boys being from Canada and all.
  8. You CAN tune without an RTA. There will easily be audible differences depending upon the tune.
  9. Well put, and agreed. Simple vibration from electrical current can cause resonance. I have had several times where I actually had to add mass to the frame of the driver as the basket was resonating. I now practice this on all smaller drivers just as a precautionary measure.
  10. Quite difficult. any helpful links? http://www.elitecaraudio.com/article.php?sid=18
  11. Should also note that both drivers I had were the first versions of each, the first year they were available. There may be differences now. AS far as the Magnum, well, it's my favorite sub driver to date so judge what you will from that. Although, if I had to go 1 cube or smaller, it would be with a Brahma with a certain JBL being a close second. I need to get my hands on an IDMAX.
  12. Quite difficult.
  13. can you show me what youre talking about? im really tired of using the net on a pole thing. Foster child?
  14. I for one am not getting worked up. Just stating I feel it's all subjective in the end. As for the tube thing, well, taker it as you may, but the fact of the matter is the claims about the HYBRID tube amps and high distortion or the distortion coloring the sound are just untrue. See the specs yourself, as they are quite comparable to any other SS offerings. As for choices on equipment, I was generalizing that to the people of this forum. Most of us are well-experienced and are only worried about how the performance or best/loudest sound possible. We don't get the normal CA.com questions over here, so I assumed that would be understood. Also, I never said we "judge" our products by ear. Please reread. Also, do NOT judge me and make ignorant statements please. I never said anything about you or anyone else. I never made anything personal here. I am simply stating my opinion and my feelings. There is no argument here, so don't make one. The thing I like about this place is we have a VARIETY of different views on pretty much every topic here and it's great to see an aspects from every angle. Ultimately it DOES come down to you ear, feeling, sensation, however you want to describe it. When you sit in your vehicle and get a smile on your face, that's what it is all about. The only point I've been trying to convey.
  15. Aperiodic membrane will have the flattest curve. Generally the smallest possible enclosure will yield the least amount of impedance rise, but then the driver would essentially be worthless.

  18. And if you only knew how cheap the things are being built. Ever had to service a Hummer? They take parts from all the Big3 and jumble them altogether. Kinda funny how it all works. I can tell you though, once you take into consideration the torque multiplication throughout all the gearing, a snap of the throttle will throw you back in the seat pretty hard. They are beasts and that damn diesel will pull ANYTHING.
  19. My Experience: Sealed, 1 cube. Brahma will OWN ANYTHING in the low octaves. These things are just simply amazing in diminutive enclosures. If I ever need this small of an application again, this is the driver I'd choose. Vented, 2.3 cubes at 25Hz. Eh, kinda close, but I still give the edge to the Brahma. The XXX was damn close, but to my ears, the Brahma was more pleasant. I can say the XXX just seemed to keep laughing at me the more power I gave it. I really liked both drivers in the sealed application the best though. I not a huge fan of high output, so you can judge from that.
  20. I personally feel it's a resonance isssue. I'd go to a habby store and get some modeling clay first and start packing that baby till it sounds better.
  21. I like the blue and I'm still trying to comprehend how a cartoon can be sexy.
  22. FIrst of all, the distortion thing, think again. I know what distortion is, there was NO hint of it in this setup. Also, do some reasearch on the amps. They are all well below the perceptible level of distortion, and put simply, the hybrid tubes just don't have anywhere near the distortion figures of a traditional tube amp. They are almost dead on to that of SS amps. Now, I know this is all about science and what not, but think about it. . . . DO any of us go through all the scientific crap when we pick our equipment? NO. WE are going to do normal reaseacrh, look at pre-specified specs and go from there. All I'm saying is, when we "rate" our systems we go by our ear. IT's all subjective and really.
  23. The money won't be going to me. Madisound.
  24. It was $157 shipped for the amp, coaxials, sub, and components. Denim, the amp model is the Q.24
  25. I had the pleasure of listening to some a couple weeks ago. They are hybrid amps, but I myself noticed quite a bit of aq different "feeling" in the material when listening to it. I fell in love.
