So I hook up the Alpine to test the Pre-outs today and upon powering it up, the face will not open,or angle at all. I press the buttons and it seems like the mechanism is either stuck or not catching. Anyone have this problem before or know how to remedy it?

Seems as if it is in the amp itself. Do they work without being bridged?

Okay, you guys keep talking about distortion, but think about this. What causes the coil to fry? Heat. Once it reaches thermal limit, that's when you have problems. Now does distortion add heat? If he was sending 300 distorted watts to that puppy, would the coil fry? Nope. There are many many variable that could have led to this, but the only thing that would fry the coil is too much heat.

Oh no, this debate has come here now. I'm staying away from this.

Or just pop everything on the other channel. If they work, it's equipment, if not, it's the crossover/drivers.

Okay, the other day, I DLed the SP2 and it totally screwed up my internet connection. Upon uninstalling, everything was fine. Well, I forgot to change my prefs for Windows updates and fell asleep the other night with the computer on and low and behold, when I awoke, the computer had DLed and installed SP2 again. Went to uninstall and restart, and now it get's to the XP screen, loads windows, then goes to the blue screen and restarts the computer. Does it everytime and will do nothing else. I called MS tech and they told me to insert the XP setup disc and it would repair windows. HA! No luck. Still does the same ole crap. ANy ideas what to do? With me asking this, I'd like to point out that I am not very knowledgeable about computers. I know enough to get me by, but when something like this arises, I get lost. Thanks!
