you can buy one at walmart. the plugin to 2 rca's to plug direct into the amp instead of your rca cables.

Sub sonic has nothing to do with volume. the gain does that and all songs arent recorded the same.

Then the problem is between the hu and the amp.

Wire one sub parallel 2ohm turn the gain down to start and see if its louder.

Just follow that wiring diagram to the T.But you could have other wiring wrong. Try just one sub but set the gain low.

The other thing to look for is there a volume setting for the subs on the head unit.

Each sub has to be wired exactly the same way.

Set your meter to ohms and read the ohms with the wires unhooked. What does it read?

You can properly set gain any way you want. Oscope will do nothing aside from showing you the wave form. Doesn't mean the gain is set correctly or not. The best way is to trust your ears. Well said Sir.- setting gain - by smell or dmm

I understand, but you cant change the gain for every song or cd or what ever. No, that's why you get to know your setup and adjust constantly 'till you find a happy median where every part of your system works well off of each other. I agree that its not perfect and adjusments will have to be made. I am just trying to get a point to start at and adjust from there.- Setting the gain wth a dmm.
