I was listening to my Fi Bl 12 today when it began to make a tapping sound. I assumed it was the dustcap, so i stopped my truck to check and found nothing wrong. I noticed the noise at a low volume, and when i turned the volume up it was gone. About 30 minutes later, while i was listening to shizzzons rendition of Dream On, my amp pooped out and began to smell. It also made the tapping noise i was describing earlier for a few seconds before it shut down. I pushed on the cone of my sub and did not notice any "jump" or hear any noise. So im not sure who is the culprit. Is my amp to blame, or did i blow my sub and that caused my amp to fail? amp is aq1200

Would the SSD's have comparable SQ? The SSD's sound great, but ive never heard an icon to compare.

i just paid $175 for this one :/ it sounds good and loud. but i know 2 15's will have a better low end and the initial hit of a beat will be harder. thats what im looking for. ^^^ thats all install dependent. What do you mean initial hit of a beat??? This is why earlier posts said you need to research more. You say you have experience but i dont believe you know enough to assess the issues youve had with these earlier set ups. I dont mean to bash you, im just trying to offer assistance, and i suggest you learn a little more about enclosure design because that is where you will gain your low end.

I believe i read somewhere that both companies are about sq first, then spl. Either company will be a great choice for budget and quality. I own a Bl and love it. At first i doubted its versatility but with more playing time ive learned and experienced its ability to play very well on just about anything (I listen to mainly metal and rap). Do you plan on competing, or do you just want a daily groundpounder?
