im gonna be hitting 173 DB with my new set up
So do you have a new system? If so, you might want to bump it up to 8 or even 12 ohms, they work way better in that range. I think.

Need some bass help!
Oh don't get that confused, I've still got waaaaaaaaaaay too much to learn. Sorry, but I've never heard a BL in person. The BTL sounds and performs amazing (lows = sex), but I've seen BLs take a pounding and they seem to do fine. Maybe somebody that's heard both in person can chime in and give you a better answer. Good luck

System Under Seats in Silverado
I considered these as well.. Can they take 200 watts more than rated power daily?

Need some bass help!
Doh! Switched my numbers. I meant to ask if his was 2 ohms, and if so he would have to get it reconed to 1 ohm. My mistake OP!

System Under Seats in Silverado
Hmm so I could run 2 E8s at around 250 each.. It's an idea. The two SAs ported at 2 ohms is starting to appeal to me a little bit more though...

System Under Seats in Silverado
That's an idea. Hmm.. You don't think the E8 could handle ~500 watts at 2 ohms?

System Under Seats in Silverado
My enclosure was ported at 32 htz ... Why you want sealed ?? Mainly going for SQ. I don't want this enclosure to get too complicated.. I guess I could do a small ported enclosure. Maybe I'll go with an enclosure where each side is isolated from the other, each with a simple slot port towards the middle. That'd be pretty easy and would probably sound good. I wonder if I should do sub forward with a cage or sub up...

Thanks for the replies guys. Do either of you know if the SA-8s like sealed enclosures, and if not, do you know of any other 8s that perform excellently in them?

Need some bass help!
I have an 18" BTL and it'll get loud without a doubt. You need to help us help you by telling us your space limitations. I'm assuming you have the space for 2 12" BLs simply based on the fact that you're considering a 15" BTL. Short answer: 2 12" BLs vs. 1 15" BTL on the same power: I personally would go with the BLs. Is your sub 1 ohm DVC? If so, you're going to have to get it re-coned to 2 ohm if you'll be running a second at 1 ohm. If you haven't seen this before, be sure to utilize it when needed. System Under Seats in Silverado
I'm thinking about doing a sealed setup under the back seats of my truck for days that I need my back seat. Do SA-8s like sealed boxes? I have an AQ2200D, so if I'm not mistaken, I can run a 2 ohm setup at around 550 watts per sub. Goals for this system: Sound excellent. Not looking to break windows with this system, I just want it to sound great and get pretty loud. I have my 18 for getting loud. I would just like to have some bass for the periods of time I need my back seat. SA-8s might not be my best option. I could do a pair of 10s or maybe even 12s. I don't want to spend any more than $400 for both subs and box materials. Any suggestions for what would work for me?

Michael @ AQ told me I would have a definite answer tomorrow. He said they "let go" of their technician (I'm assuming he means fired, as I don't know why he would word it like that if he had gone on vacation or something), and he was trying to see what all he had finished/resolved. Maybe I'll have a new, functioning amp by next week
