Yeah, Mr. Ear has quite the thing going. Should be very interesting once everything is done. You should share some of the things you are doing Arthur.

SPL-12 Volume Test
Thank you Tommy. I can grasp a majority of what you said, but just like the many AES papers/reports, I will have to read it a couple more times for it to sink in. And since it is 6:30am, I have yet to devour my first cup of coffee What you state here is in fact, similar (with a bit more added) to the aforementioned. Keep it coming if you are so inclined to do so... Best, Mark Oh, and I doubt anyone thought of you as being a 'know it all'.

Initial SPL 12 impressions
That's the problem with shipping such heavy units. Shippers tend to "drop" them rather than "place" them.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I give full credit to the man who had it before you. He obviously kept it in original condition. You know who you are - thanks a bunch!! m

From: Initial SPL 12 impressions
Finally... Ok, to set things straight here, this unit was sent to Stratus from someone who promised to perform a full review but never followed through. After several months, I finally asked the man to forward the unit on to him so Stratus could follow through with a proper testing. The pictures Stratus posted warrants clarification so those who read this can fill in the blanks: 1.) The SPL-12 is wrapped in a thick plastic bag with four layers of cardboard that sits over the surround. It is then topped off with a flat cardboard piece to protect the cone. 2.) The SPl-12 comes with an aluminum trim ring for owners to switch out with the rubber gasket. It is normally placed on top of the protective cardboard cover. 3.) There is a thick styrofoam coating in the box to protect the driver from excessive handling. I am not sure if it was in the box Stratus received, but despite whether there is damage to the wood crate or not, the driver is protected from damage. All that aside, Stratus, please continue with the review - whether good or bad. Here's hoping there was no abuse done to the unit before you received it. I will shut up now. Best, Mark

2 Q's..
The IXL-10's are being finalized. They will go to production real soon. I recall one gent over on ca.com using his SPL-12 in 3 cubes tuned to 38Hz and he likes it. But if its more SPL related you want, perhaps tune higher, say ~45Hz. In my test I had one in 4 cubes tuned to about 40Hz and it was plenty loud for me. I'm an old man though so take what I say lightly. Best, Mark
