Ascendant Audio is up to new things
$2k is the complete sub and the technology that went into it and "if" it's truly better than most anything on the market then the price is rather inexpensive... That's every sub company's dream isn't it?

spl 12
Yeah, I have to get the unit to Chad for some serious poundage...

spl 12
Hmm.. Don't recall Loyd saying that. The thermal limit is rated at 2.5kw RMS. Changes were made to the unit to improve power handling over what Loyd/Chad had tested..

maw12 powerandbox
You're half right - 4.3 to 4.5 cubes would be considered the 'gross' volume; after adding the bracing, driver and port the volume left is considered as 'net' volume. With that configuration you should not have an issue reaching into the 20's.
-
maw12 powerandbox
He's referring to the volume of space taken up by the driver, port and bracing - hence 'net volume'. Gross volume is simply that - gross volume of the box without all those factors included. Best, Mark

Who lives near St. Cloud, MN?
Nice. I'll keep you guys posted on the timeline. I'm waiting for the owner to get titles on the trailer so will let you know. I've never been to that neck of the woods so if there is an alternate place/area to stay overnight that will make it closer to you, let me know. I would head down on a Friday so I have the weekend to play.. m

Who lives near St. Cloud, MN?
So I'm going to be in that area in 2-3 weeks - picking up a boat I purchased in Cottage Grove. Figure I would camp out in St. Cloud since it is north of Minneapolis, which means easy driving from there. Would love to hitch up with a few folks in the area. Might bring down a couple of goodies.. Best, Mark

New Home Audio Project
Well, I most certainly won't plug my own here, so you should head over to Acoustic Elegance. Seems John is back up and running and might have some decent deals available. You mentioned Fi, sure thing, another good alternative. If you're into XBL2 technology, head over to Creative Sound Solutions and check out the drivers Bob has for sale right now...

New Home Audio Project
No offense, but these days he can get something of the same caliper or better for cheaper.

Not sure what you are asking Corey. What did you have in mind for this thing? Can you go with a nice big enclosure? What are your limitations besides cost?
