  1. See I dont like that part of that site because I don't want a round port, yet it asks for port diameter... But where you enter, "Sq. Port Ratio H:W? = 1: .5 " that means you want a rectangle port as far as the calculation is concerned.. But you're saying even if i wanted a 5" round port for 2 15"s in a 7.2cu. ft. box the port would only be 1.4" long???? I'm so lost
  2. someone please?? This is frusterating... I want to be able to start to build my own boxes, but I dont get how to calculate port size, and something isn't goin right with what I'm doin here I payed 20 bucks for the design, just because I don't know how to do port's....the rest I can do. Thx
  3. Hey guys, I have been talking to a member on here about some calculations I used from BCAE1.com, and something just isnt adding up right.. here is a pic of the box I HAD DESIGNED by a member, so I trust this will work, but I just wanted to enter in the info on BCAE1 to see if they would give me about the same specs.. NOPE....>>>>>>>> This is the box I want to build... but when I put the specs into the BCAE1 site... it tells me to build a 1.3" port... what am I doing wrong here with this program????????? Height? =15 Inches Width? = 39.5 Inches Depth1? =26.5 Inches Depth2? = 26.5 Inches If the above dimensions are OUTSIDE dimensions, enter the thickness of the wood below. Wood Thickness? =.75 Inches Speaker Displacement? = .246 Ft
  4. bump.. oxsign, you have PM.. if you could answer a few quick questions on that program i'd appreciate it.. thx
  5. is that a sealed box?
  6. aaaahah.. Thank you
  7. learnin every day here.... what are "slugs"?
  8. i thought the Havocs were more expensive than the Q's... Q's retail starting at $260 right? What are the Havocs runnin for...base model
  9. so now that we all know PETE is God, and knows all, would you even be open to suggestions from people here that have like 20+ yrs experience with both SQ, and SPL comps, and own, or work for a lot of these companies.?
  10. I wish those werent so expensive.. I have honestly heard nothing but good things about the W6's... The W7's get bashed on a lot because of what you can get for the price, but W6's have a great rep IMO
  11. right, but wouldn't bondo make the corners and edges much stronger? Also what about using L brackets?
  12. Quick question for you guys.... Why does nobody recommend using bondo instead of caulk for the corners... or in addition to.? I know a lot of people use Resin, and resin sheets, but nobody ever mentions bondo
  13. well I like how they perform now, im pretty happy with them so I want to try to use a different box first, and if that doesnt do it for me then I will change... I've been more on the SPL street beater side for a while, but there have been a few other systems i've heard more LSQ oriented that i've like just as well, and gotten just as loud.. Ex. 4x 10" HX2's sealed... to the ear it was louder than my current system, but i think I got an advantage at the mic... BUT, thats not what im lookin for. I want loud to the ear/feel it in my chest, NOT loud at the mic. (within reason)
  14. quick questions guys... I had a box designed with a height of 15" and a port length of 13.5" BUT the design didnt account for carpet... SO, if I drop the height to 14.5", do I need to lengthen the port dimension, or shorten it by 1/2", or other...??
  15. don't you think the 12's would suit that amp better?
  16. oh for sure... I wasn't stating it was cheap besides price in anyway... I am just really Miffed as to which FI sub I want to try out next... I hear the SSD and the FI Q are very similar, and the BTL and the BL are very similar...and the Q takes more power than the SSD...so besides that...what's the diff, and why get the Q if the SSD is cheaper, but just takes less power??...And if I want a BTL, why not just get a Havoc... and so on. Wish I had money to try em all, heh heh heh
  17. wow, nice, and that is exactly the review I have been lookin for in the last few days!! I was under the impression the BL was a more SQ based sub... Isnt it the cheapest of the FI's line?? (top of the webpage right?)
  18. My buddy had 1 15" Eclipse TI runnin off of an older bd1000.1 in a sealed box built to Eclipse specs... UN-frickin believeable... Was in an SRT-8... Was louder than both my 2 12" Solobarics off of 2 Autotek Stealth 1600.1's PORTED, was louder than my 15"xxx... I thought the back window in his car was seriously going to break, shook the hell outta his car, tickled my ear drum... I dunno how or why, I just know it did.
  19. haha.. didnt take you long!!
  20. Since nobody has responded, Just from what I have been reading lately since I'm very interested in the Q's.. I'd saythe SSD's...maybe even 12's... Most people say the q's like 700-1000watts/each, SSD's like 6-800... This is just based off of what i've been reading.
  21. possibly run 2 of them sealed (the Bl's)...doesnt that generally allow more power??....just throwin the idea out there
  22. I like how the doors are flexin a little bit even though its a quick note hitting
  23. well I love the volume of the R's, but I love feeling the punch of a sub.. also. So I think the Q's will give me the best of both worlds... I got a design guys. I am going to try another box for the R's tuned at 38hz, and if that doesnt do it, ill sell em and shop for something else.
  24. wow.. I wonder if I could get the same output with 1 in a big box ( and i'd have my trunk back) No you won't. You need to find a set of drivers you actually have space for. I know.. I just want to try a higher tuned box first to see if I like it since it would only cost me the price of the box to build... I really want to try 2 15" FI Q's SEALED...someone said those don't need as much space ported either so I could try em both :-)
