That's normal. My level 5 gets hot quick when I max out the gain (not full, maxed on the dd-1 which is rated at 3k). I back it down a hair and getting it warm takes 10-15 minutes of slamming. Plus my box is shit so lows heat it up quicker in my case and that is all I play.

all i know, crescendo, DC, sundown, and AQ all do over rated power (meaning they are underrated) at higher impedences and lower voltages than on the spec sheet.

lol. well i know 150db is good number to shoot for...i would like to score higher but 150 would make me happy. i listen to rap mostly... young jeezy. gucci mane. gorilla zoe. all low hitting bass. what do you mean by doctored ?? freq range ?? i want to hits the lows good so i was thinking between 28-30hz... i dont think i need a wall really... im thinking about building 2 boxes like the ones i have now... just bigger and bigger ports... but im not good with the design programs as ive never used one before Why 150dB? If you are sure what range the bass notes play and for what you truly need 150 on then your goal is not yet defined. M5, gucci, gorilla zoe, jeezy basically all float around mid 30s in their songs, some drop low for a little, but mainly mid 30s.(in all their music i would say total bandwidth of main basslines is 28hz rarely up to 47hz, a lot of constants and a lot of 3 bassline wonders.(44hz to 35hz to 44hz to 28hz back to 35hz and so on)).

just got my hands on a XXX6500, shit puts out some power. the internals look solid too, and dont get warm easy either, internal fan also. it will do 10kish, just remember they are rated at 16v, and some at 18v, you might only get 7k if you run it at 14.4. Like my 6500 is rated for only like 4k at 14.4, get the 5k at 16v which i will never have. edit: the 4k, 6.5k, 10k, and 15k they have get their peak ratings from dividing the highest rated power by .707, it says that on the manual

if the gain is at 3/4, 1/2, or 1/4, that doesnt mean that fraction of its rated wattage, it depends on the signal voltage.

yea, the extension made it easier to carpet the port because i didnt have to clean up the edge.

4hz worth, dropped it to 36 from 40(it was at 40 because i miss measured the port width, so i added that extension)

and with the level 5, i had it for about 5 days, i was getting a wierd coil rub scratching sound, sent it to get looked at by Rusty, showed up at DC HQ with the broken basket. Thats why it need the recone, i never even got to let the 2 AQ1200ds pound on it. vids: level 4s level 5 only vid i got of it after 2 and a half months of waiting. (plays at the endish, gain was almost all the way down)

lv5 is getting reconed because the basket was broken in the mail, here are some pics, recone and new basket should arrive early next week. here is the basket taken off the motor, notice the missing basket and there is another crack to the right by the next basket arm all the way through. cutout soft parts (quad spiders, dual sewn tinsels, 8 layel flat wind 3in coil on black anodized coil former) level 5 motor (~10in in diameter) mom decided to pay for some kicks because she kept hearing me talk about them (lol) will have a set of selenium 6w4p's(i payed for these hehe, shows up in the mail tomorrow) for the stock location and my kicker components in the kicks.
