Just looked @ the site and the specs on the 15" page are wrong... the v.1 Fs is actually around 37 Hz or so. The 12" model T/S seems to be on all size pages... need to get that fixed.

Here are some T/S from the 15" D1 that I built for myself with 3 Hard spiders (stock stiffness): RE: 2.09 ohms (D1 series) Fs: 32.16 Hz Qes: 0.48 Qms: 12.04 Qts: 0.46 Le: 2.86 mH Vas: 47.05 L BL: 20.07 NA Cms: 53.44 uM/N Mms: 457 g The above with a very short break-in period... Fs will drop a few more Hz when fully broken in. My FEA simulations show 27mm of linear excursion by 70% BL method + it has dual shorting rings to lower inductance related distortion. The at-rest Le is actually roughly equal to the v.1 Nightshade which had a much shorter coil.

That is what I get for doing math on cold medicine... I used diameter instead of radius... it's actually about 31 in^2 doing it right.

The top eyelet may have been burnt by the original failure -- in which case they cannot be soldered on top. There is another eyelet on the bottom and they are soldered to that.

Yes, the Z v.2 will be our new 1500 RMS woofer... they are VERY efficient woofers and we suggest sticking to RMS. They are 1-2dB louder at 1500 watts than the NS v.1 was... so you get the output of running more power without actually having more power. Anyone running 1500 RMS will get best results with this woofer. The NS v.2 will be a 2000-watt RMS woofer... also a little more efficient than the v.1 but will handle ALOT more power... based on the R&D I did with the "Monster" prototype woofer but with several improvements. If you have 2000+ watts this will be the sub to get. A little Nightshade v.1 history: 1st run -- Open pole vent with 42mm coil, original model... sticking to 1500 RMS suggested ** We offered some re-cones with 56mm coils at this time 2nd run -- We moved to a 50mm coil and a plastic pole vent plug 3rd run -- We improved the 50mm coil with some collar venting and used an aluminum plug We made a few custom ones with plugs + 56mm coils but all-in-all I preferred the 50mm coil with collar venting for the v.1 model. Starting with adding the 56mm coil and/or plastic pole caps people starting running 3000Ds on them.

I hit 155.7 right as one amp went into protect with the panels OUT and the amps still on the sides. Impedance seems to have changed with the amp location... going to try sliding the box around. Seems I am louder with the panels out after all.

Either moving the amps to the sides OR putting the side panels back in is not working (I was trying a suggestion to move the amps here instead of in front of the box)... so next step is to put my old amp rack back in: If the old amp rack doesn't bring it back to at least the original score I will take the plastic panels back out.

I don't know if I'm louder with or without the panels... some anecdotal evidence suggests that I am louder WITH them but I've never done an A-B test.
