New Sundown "E" Woofer Line Sneak Preview
I am not planning an 8" for this line any time soon... but I am planning 10s, 12s, and 15s... also... I do not have an ETA just yet, first prototypes are on the way then testing will be in order for a while to make sure the design suits all of my requirements. Just though I would offer a sneak peak of the 15" model. Initial MSRP also posted... may be subject to small changes based on tweaks needed. I AM planning to use spring loaded push terminals on production... I don't like the spade connectors. Some T/S Specs measured on the Klippel machine at the factory... I will measure them myself as well once my prototypes arrive. 10" S4 Coil MSRP: $130 Re: 3.86 ohms Fs: 31.8 Hz Qts: 0.373 Qms: 8.401 Qes: 0.390 BL: 14.562 NA Cms: 0.234 mm/N Mms: 107 g 12" D4 Coils: MSRP: $150 Re: 7.4 ohms Fs: 23.9 Hz Qts: 0.576 Qms: 8.182 Qes: 0.620 BL: 16.324 NA Cms: 0.298 mm/N Mms: 148 g 15" D4 Coils: MSRP: $170 Re: 7.61 ohms Fs: 23.3 Hz Qts: 0.890 Qms: 11.72 Qes: 0.963 BL: 16.925 Cms: 0.189 mm/N Mms: 247 g

SAE1200, something wrong?
Perhaps the gain knob or circuit is messed up -- dB-R may have a better answer, although, this is not an issue I have seen before.

E-Mail Delays.
I was caught up for a few days but have a back log again... so if you haven't heard back from me yet expect a reply Monday - Tuesday.

Sundown Z15 D2 and D4 Close-Out Special
D4s are getting really low... have a good bit of D2.

Weird... does it act normally playing music ?

Sundown Z v.2 -- Cool new part preview
Shorting rings are clear powder coated as well -- can't really tell any difference except they feel smooth and look a little glossy :

Sundown Z v.2 -- Cool new part preview
As promised here are pictures of the triple joint ring (this is why I added 10mm of spacing with the shorting ring) : * The ridge part faces the winding... gets filled with glue. * Another view. Made in Concord, NC from a very high temperature material... takes ~530 degrees to mold it and they tell me that unless I get it up to around 500 or so it won't deform from the formed shape. Simple part... but should help alot with excessive abuse. I am planning to round the edge that touches the spider as well to keep it from sawing into the spider over time.

NS v1 vs NS v2
FYI... the 71mm long standard coil will be 1.0 / 1.9 DCR for D1 / D2 configurations. Coil of choice for daily beating right here. I will work on a bit shorter coil version for the 0.7 / 1.4 crowd... likely around 56mm or so on those. These will be for guys trying to get DCR down for SPL applications.

Correct.

NS v1 vs NS v2
A coil this long out of copper would be way too heavy, IMO... so I don't think I would do it. Maybe a shorter version.

8x Used SAZ-1500Ds Available - $350 each
They are originals from the factory -- if you need some please e-mail me.

NS v1 vs NS v2
I have sample v.2 coils being made now... few weeks.
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
... but seriously -- the new coil would make it handle more power.
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
It will be more awesome-er *laughs*
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
The coil is compatible... so yah, we can re-cone the v.1 with the v.2 coil.
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
I do not suggest getting an overly hard spider for anyone... SPL or daily. The Z v.2 suspension will be much softer than the NS v.1 -- the NS v.2 will be almost identical to the NS v.1 stiffness -- it is more than stiff enough for 99% of applications.

NS v1 vs NS v2
2000 RMS is conservative for the Nightshade v.2 -- it is taking power handling to a whole new level from the v.1 model. The Z v.2, on the other hand, was designed to do the most possible with it's rated 1500 watts... I've broken a 150 with 1500 clamped watts on the prototype model already !
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
I expect the prototype motor soon for the v.2 Nightshade... depends on how testing goes and how close it is to my simulations.
-
NS v1 vs NS v2
Pretty much everything... motor is all new design, coil is all new design as well. Suspension will remain pretty well the same, though, as the Nightshade suspension was capable of handling far more than the rated 1500 RMS. The v.1 uses a 42mm coil from the original run... and later we changed to a 50mm coil. The v.2 will use a 71mm long coil... plus cooling based on our "Monster" prototype so I expect dramatically higher thermal power handling.

Sundown SAE-1200D v.2 Pre-Sale OPEN
v.2 -- the v.1 is no longer available. I will keep this open until they are almost here... with the delays it could be open into December.

About the same as the Nightshades. 12 : 1.5 - 2.25 15 : 2.75 - 3.5 18 : 4 - 5

Running 3000D at .25
Your DMM reading is DCR... but you may have lead resistance. So first touch the leads together and remember that reading and subtract that from what it tells you on the coil.

ignore my newbiness on ohm loads lol, but all I have is .66 on the diagram for 3 12 inch dual ones. I have no idea what DCR means DC Resistance.
