  1. They should out-perform either the LVL-4 or DD 2500... actually we did a swap in for a DD 2500 and gained over 1 dB in SPL and the Z sounded nicer
  2. I've only sold a few of them -- so you may not get much feedback. They perform alot like the original except MUCH better sealed.
  3. I don't really promote 18v "daily" setups as it is a bit silly but it has been done anywhere from 17.9v (what I ran) to 19.5v (DJ ran his 3000s here).
  4. Cross brace finished for the baffle... just need to build the baffle itself now : Looks pretty strong to me
  5. Framed the back wall into place on the front (also framed into place on the back as pictured before) -- starting to frame in to place the woofer baffle in : Back chamber is 5 ft^3 before the displacement of the 2x4" lumber + any other bracing I decide to add. Figure I'll end up with around 1 cube per driver as I plan to reverse mount the subs (no sub displacement).
  6. TOP of the box is OFF... back wall slid back to where I want it. I have around 38 cubes to work with in this position. I can use the back wall... it is 6 layers of MDF with 2x4" lumber bracing, very sturdy.
  7. The last side is cleaned off... starting on the inside of the box: Part of the floor had a bit of a hump from moisture -- side closest to camera -- had to grind that down so I can slide the baffle in.
  8. There are like 10 boxes to the left Which one? They are just various boxes we have built up over time.
  9. Top is 100% cleaned off... broke off a grinder disc on some of the concrete residue which shot off, hit my finger and leg (ouch), and then broke a fluorescent light *laughs* But... I got it done!
  10. Have the one side and about 2/3 of the top sanded down smooth with a grinder after foam removal... got most of the foam off of the other side so I can grind it down soon too:
  11. Concrete is OFF... working on the foam. I think I can re-use the shell and just layer it up with actual wood We are also working on a 4th order wall for 12 x 12s today... so we are busy!
  12. Taking out the concrete is going to be difficult... has a metal mesh in it.
  13. * Everything out of the back * Baffle Out !
  14. Not 100% sure what I'm doing yet Once I get it out I am going to take a good look at it and consider my options. I have thought about some sort of band-pass but I may end up going back regular ported wall.
  15. Got this truck through some horse trading... current setup was tested to do 154.3 dB @ 61 Hz with two Z15s and a clamped power of 5000 watts total. I want a more efficient setup so I am tearing it all down! Some pics of the current setup with the cap off and starting to tear down : Old wall has a great baffle - 7 layers thick - but the outside is too thin. It is one layer of MDF with super dense foam sandwiched between that and a thin layer of wood (I had that peeled off before the pics). It does have concrete above the front chamber, though, so that is not too bad. All in all I think it could be better so I am going to rip it out!
  16. Correct -- both amps are actually exceeding their 2 ohm rated outputs substantially.
  17. The power difference measured correlates very well with the parts count difference in the output section. I have all of the subs out of my Jeep or I'd try them both at 1/2 ohm.
  18. Power Test Completed. I know someone will ask these questions SO READ THIS FIRST : 1) AQ-3500D Tested First - Battery Bank had a charge for several hours from our bench power supplies 2) SAZ-3500D Tested Second - Only a few minutes behind the AQ-3500D Test 3) THIS IS WHY the 3500D had much more voltage drop, I had the entire surface charge gone from the batteries 4) Both amps set wide open to be apples to apples. ----- AQ-3500D POWER TEST: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/AQ3500D_SAZ-3500D/CIMG2679.MOV AQ-3500D VOLTAGE TEST: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/AQ3500D_SAZ-3500D/CIMG2681.MOV POWER : 2400 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 71 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 33.8 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 2.1 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 14.22 V ----- SAZ-3500D POWER TEST: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/AQ3500D_SAZ-3500D/CIMG2682.MOV SAZ-3500D VOLTAGE TEST: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/AQ3500D_SAZ-3500D/CIMG2684.MOV POWER : 3020 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 77.2 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 39.11 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.97 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 11.99 V
  19. Please e-mail me for shipping quotes... it is clogging the thread.
  20. Before anyone starts a fight... I am just offering a comparison of parts counts, sizes, etc. I am not saying anything bad about the AQ product.
  21. Have had a few people ask for a comparison and I happened to get one in for trade -- so here it is. Not sure if this is factory or from the repair but the AQ also uses Fairchild output parts vs. IRF parts: * SAZ-3500D is a bit longer and wider * SAZ-3500D has 20 caps in PS section vs. 16 in the AQ * Another view of the power supplies in comparison * Output sections : Output inductors are equal, SAZ-3500D uses 16 outputs vs. 12 in the AQ * SAZ-3500D Transformers compared to a dollar bill * AQ-3500D Transformers compared to a dollar bill
  22. I don't have the prototype yet and it takes 2-3 months once I approve the prototype and start production. So yes, a few months out.
