  1. Problem with a 2.5" coil on an 8" is the spider on any standard frame. You will break it mechanically before thermal. I think this will do very well... I am not aware of anyone that ACTUALLY killed an E8 purely thermally (the coil)... and this coil is 33% longer with better cooling. So I think it will work nicely.
  2. Better start planning it ! :)
  3. Sent in my design specs to the factory today for an SA-8 driver. Will move down to a 2" coil, though, so we can fit the proper spider on the frame. Coil will be 33% longer than the E8 coil and will feature all of the SA-12 cooling features. Frame will be 12-spoke rather than 4-spoke as it works better in the 8" size. May have pics in a few weeks Motor dimensions are similar to SA-12 except for it is narrower to more easily fit into an 8" woofer cut-out. Power rating 400-500 watts RMS. As for the X8... I may start from scratch on it due to the difficulties of using a 2.5" coil on an 8" driver.
  4. So... 4 ohms strapped vs. 1 amp at 1 ohm ?
  5. Send it along w/ your invoice to dB-R Electronics and we'll get it fixed up !
  6. $60 + shipping each regardless of quantity Need to make room in the warehouse so price is 1/2 what I was originally asking. --- I bought out all of the QC failed SI BM 10s (old models) and re-built them with several changes: 1) Slightly longer flat-wound coil (original was round wire) - USA made coils 2) Narrower / Taller Surround 3) Tied down tinsel leads Measured T/S Specs (coils in series): RE: 6.89 ohms Z: 8 ohms Fs: 27.2 Hz Qes: 0.56 Qms: 3.32 Qts: 0.48 Le: 2.8 mH Vas: 31.1 L BL: 16.2 NA Mms: 124 grams Power: 400 watts RMS 0.95 ft^3 SEALED BOX - F3 of 41 Hz 1.5 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 - 35 Hz for high output I have about 40 of these... These are blow-out items and sold with no warranty beyond a no DOA guarantee. I can built re-cones for them for a while as I did get about 25 sets of extra parts! They are pretty tough with a 2.5" diameter flat coil, though. Nice sounding drivers.
  7. No, they are not. You would need a Maxx-Link to strap them.
  8. A board trace may be hitting the case -- you should send it to dB-R to check it out.
  9. $400 for an SAZ-1500D until August 31st They are IN STOCK and ready to ship. My way of saying "thanks" to my customers over these past three years! This is the lowest price ever seen on the SAZ-1500D. Send me a Paypal to [email protected] with Note "SAZ-1500D SALE" OR Talk to your favorite Sundown dealer !!!
  10. If the amp is mounted under the trunk lid area with no cover it will get VERY hot just sitting there -- I had a black Civic a few years back and amps would blister your hand without even being powered on... just ambient heat.
  11. What sort of history are you looking for ? We started in 2006. SAZ and SAX lines are made in Korea. New SAE line is made in China. Some woofers are built in the USA (Nightshade, Z series, old SD-1 series) some are built in China (SA series, E8s)
  12. Pre-Order CLOSED. Amps due tomorrow.
  13. Our amps don't have them... most of the time they are not real measurements anyway, just random numbers.
  14. Just put in the notes "For SAE-1200D v.2 Pre-Order"
  15. You may simply be pushing it too hard -- simple as that. Most mono amps are Class-D and generate less heat as well.
  16. Take a look at the heat-sink -- it stays quite cool as we added the internal fins to this model case as well.
  17. 1/0 power terminals and it needs them... it's powerful.
  18. PRE-SALE ORDERS ARE FINAL - THERE WILL BE NO REFUNDS -- If you are not 100% sure you will be financially stable then don't pre-order. No more exceptions. 19. Just keep it away from vibration as much as possible, rubber feet would help.
  20. Since it is from dB-R you may try contacting him as well
  21. For that and for rattle reduction... most of the 3000s have a plastic sheet on the bottom cover above the transformers to protect against a short but some did not and rarely they can touch the bottom cover and short.
  22. Yes, that is correct as KU40 stated.
