  1. Batteries ?!
  2. I still have some as long as this is a sticky post.
  3. Thanks Going to try and have fun!
  4. I will be leaving on the 25th and coming back on the 30th. I will answer some e-mails while I am gone -- but most likely not all of them, it is supposed to be a vacation after all. Brandon will be at the shop Monday - Wednesday while I am not so he will handle as much as possible without me being here.
  5. UP - be sure to check out the incredible savings on the SAZ-3000D Refurbished amps
  6. For just 2-3 days... I'd wait.
  7. Yes, you can hook them together.
  8. THIS IS FOR WOOFERS WITH THE PLASTIC CENTERING CAP ** If you do not have the centering cap use Amazing Goop for the dust cap ** Seems people have ALOT of problems putting caps on their re-cones so this is how it is done : Buy two of these containers of Loctite FIVE MINUTE epoxy w/ mixing tubes at Lowes (DO NOT USE ONE MINUTE): ---------- First Step : http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/how-to/Nightshade_Dust_Cap/CIMG2514.MOV Put epoxy around the edges of the disc as shown - make sure to get a good bit in the little holes so it is filled in. ---------- Second Step: Wait about 5 minutes for the first step to dry. http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/how-to/Nightshade_Dust_Cap/CIMG2515.MOV CAREFULLY make a bead around the dust cap to fill in the gap area. You will see Brandon traces back a bit at the end - this is because the epoxy keeps dripping out a bit and we don't want it on the cone. Don't put too much or it will run over onto the cap!

  10. 2x Sundown Nightshade 18s 2x Sundown SAZ-3500Ds Only four 16v batteries Steve is officially louder than my best score Looks like I need to do some work!
  11. Cannot do that in my Jeep -- all six batteries are under my amp rack connected together with a fixed aluminum bar. Ray farmer has done testing with two batteries and engine off on the 3500D (Street-C dB Drag Style) -- which I linked for you already.
  12. got a question, with the above settings, wouldn't this cause alot of distortion during the burp? and possibly resulting in less power output?? or could it be more? i have a Pioneer HU, Soundstream 10V preamp, and an Audiocontrol 6XS crossover.. the gain on my pair of strapped 1500Ds is set to the minimum (least sensitive). all bass controls are set flat. i get my best SPL score by burping at 31/62 on the headunit.. when i try burping at 36/62, my score decreases.. i figure the reason for the lower score at 36/62 is because the amps are distorting.. could that be true? (i have a 140A alt with 2 powermaster AGM batteries) I am loudest in SPL at 50/50 on my head unit -- tested it many times
  13. SAE-1200D Added. Produced 1770 watts but created more voltage drop than the 1500D did to produce 1970 watts.
  14. SAZ-3500D Complete.
  15. SAZ-3000D Complete.
  16. Indeed You will note in the test that my power clamp / voltage clamps takes some time to settle in... this is because it ignores the inrush peaks that would get picked up by a "peak hold" measurement. These are much more accurate figures - about as good as you will get with clamps.
  17. SAZ-2000D Complete -- almost exactly 500 more watts as the rating would suggest even with a bit more voltage drop.
  18. These are not necessarily definitive tests on the amps. All applications are different and I could have probably squeezed more out of an amp here or there... but for the sake of this test I just set the gain knobs to physically 1/2 way up. Just a rough guide to show what the amps can do! I may go back one day and do an SPL comparison as well -- as we have seen up to 1 dB increase from the 3000D to the 3500D even though the power test doesn't seem to indicate as much. With the SPL portion I would sit down and tweak knobs until I got maximum SPL per amp. I tested amps from smallest to largest (for the most part except 1200D was tested last) -- so the batteries did not have a complete full charge by the time I got to the big amps, just a few minutes of alternator charge time... that just means the bigger amps will produce more than posted if I had a complete charge. This was mentioned on another forum so I thought I would post it here as well.

  20. I am going to go through and drop the SAZ-1000D, SAE-1200D, SAZ-1500D, SAZ-2000D, SAZ-3000D, and SAZ-3500D in the Jeep and do a power clamp test so we have a rough and UNIFORM comparison between the amps in the same setup. Test Frequency - 50 Hz Test Load - 4x SA-12s all in parallel for 0.4375 DCR (1/2 nominal) Test Electrical - 6x Stinger SPV-70 + 225-Amp Alternator (vehicle only at idle) Amp gain set to 1/2 - Head Unit Sub Control 10/10 - Head Unit Volume 50/50 Setting gain to half on each amp is, of course, not an exact match... but for the sake of roughly comparing the amps I think it serves the purpose. --------------- SAZ-1000D: POWER : 1040 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 37.2 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 27.95 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.33 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 13.15 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/1000D/CIMG2498.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/1000D/CIMG2499.MOV * Voltage Measurement --------------- SAE-1200D: POWER : 1770 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : DID NOT MEASURE AMP CURRENT (calculated) : DID NOT MEASURE ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : DID NOT MEASURE SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.65 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/1200D/CIMG2513.MOV * Power Clamp DID NOT MEASURE * Voltage Measurement ** FUSES BLEW - DID NOT CONTINUE TO MEASURE VOLTAGE --------------- SAZ-1500D: POWER : 1970 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 49.25 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 40 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.23 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.85 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/1500D/CIMG2493.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/1500D/CIMG2494.MOV * Voltage Measurement --------------- SAZ-2000D: POWER : 2440 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 56.18 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 43.43 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.29 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.5 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/2000D/CIMG2503.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/2000D/CIMG2504.MOV * Voltage Measurement --------------- SAZ-3000D: POWER : 3280 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 61.28 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 53.52 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.14 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.1 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/3000D/CIMG2506.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/3000D/CIMG2507.MOV * Voltage Measurement --------------- SAZ-3500D: POWER : 3660 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 65.84 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 55.58 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.18 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 11.9 V http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/3500D/CIMG2510.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/3500D/CIMG2511.MOV * Voltage Measurement --------------- SAZ-4500D: * SAZ-4500D in prototype case POWER : 4870 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 76.0 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 64.08 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.18 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.25 V *** http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/4500D/CIMG2529.MOV * Power Clamp http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/_AMP_POWER/4500D/CIMG2530.MOV * Voltage Measurement *** - Measured different day from other amps (8-4-09), batteries had full charge so sustained less voltage drop.

Depends... I've had the amps strapped in every setup in the Jeep and don't have any problems. Varies by setup.
  22. NICE Gary
  23. I'll work on something official for the 2000D.
