  1. Thanks Ray and Derrick
  2. I have yet to blow a 300-amp fuse with my 3500Ds - it will do fine.
  3. Me too Whenever Monsters are production we'll see it.
  4. The new surround is also a bit stiffer - it may call for a slightly larger enclosure to get it moving like the old woofer
  5. This is the "official" post to be linked in our sticky amp power testing post : ----- This testing done on my Extech True Power meter a full 6-10 seconds in to the burp so we are not catching peak values: http://www.extech.com/instrument/products/...399/380976.html ----- HIGH VOLTAGE TESTING: 6x Powermaster D1000s used for testing 17.9 volts rest - did not measure voltage drop. 10,320 watts from the pair @ 1.5 ohms each after rise starting at 0.5 DCR 5160 each 11,470 watts from the pair @ 1.3 ohms each after rise starting at 0.5 DCR 5735 per amp ----- 12v SYSTEM TESTING: Starting battery + 2x Powermaster D3100s used for testing 3980 @ 0.25 rising to 0.65 @ 11.2v (engine on) 2050 @ 1 rising to 2.44 @ 12.2v (engine off) With a bit more voltage on tap you can easily expect more power.
  6. In SPL Derrick was 1 dB up at 1 ohm vs. the 3000D! We got similar numbers on my clamp at the shop: 3980 @ 0.25 rising to 0.65 @ 11.2v (engine on) 2050 @ 1 rising to 2.44 @ 12.2v (engine off)
  7. More fun stuff... When I cut it down until it was reading 39 Hz - score was 0.2dB down but I couldn't get my PVC piece back in so it would have either been the same or 0.1-0.2 up. Cut it down more until it was reading 41 Hz - lost 0.9 dB! Re-built the port to 4" longer than before... simply taping it up against what was left of the old port and building a quick brace piece to hold the parts together in the center... no glue at all, no smoothing, nothing special. I am within 0.1 dB of my score before cutting - 154.5 dB. My iPod only has tracks down to 35 Hz and by the current measurement 35 Hz had the highest current... so the box is at least 2 Hz lower tuned than before and is about the same in SPL - potentially louder once I get the parts properly joined back together.
  8. That's weird jake id think higher tuning would be the ticket. Ever thought about trying aero ports out? It is on my to-do list once I buy some 6" aero-ports for testing.
  9. I continued to cut it down - confirming the higher tuning with output current measurements. Interestingly my score went down when I got the tuning higher. So... I am going to re-build the port and even try longer ports to see what happens.
  10. Indeed. Out of vehicle tuning was around 45 or so. Dropped in the Jeep it went down to 37 Hz. Another issue... with the port shortened I can't get my PVC pieces back in above the port as the magnet hits them! So... back to the drawing board for a bit.
  11. I also discovered that the in-vehicle tuning of my box has actually been 37 Hz for the new enclosure... I cut 4" off the port and got it up to 39 Hz so far *laughs* Looks like I may have to take off most of the port to get it to where I want it.
  12. These are in transit to me so the ETA for late June seems to be on track.
  13. 494mm length 19.44"
  14. I wouldn't consider the Nightshade an SQ woofer by any means - but it is not a fat cannon - they sound just fine daily.
  15. NS-X is testing very well - I am ironing out final details on it. Don't quite have an ETA, though. I am also still working on the Monster... the v.2 prototype is in the works.
  16. 12v testing is coming soon.
  17. All of our amps would be rated higher at all loads if we used a resistive / reactive after rise rating - they are conservative to account for voltage drops and actual reactive loads for a number that you can reasonably expect to see in a real vehicle on music program. Eg: With the 1 ohm rating you can generally expect to see that much power even after a normal amount of rise above 1 ohm.
  18. ETA still holds for the 2000D at this time.
  19. The Xcon is more along the lines of the Z15 - with a bit higher power handling. Motor force is a good bit lower than the Nightshade.
  20. Comparable in what category ?
  21. I have considered re-rating the 4 ohm power of the other amp models as well - on a reactive load most 1 ohm Class-D amps don't do a while lot at 4 ohms with 2-3x impedance rises putting the amp at 8-12 ohms most of the time.
  22. The 4 ohm rating is equal to the Audioque 3500D: http://www.audioque.com/aq/AQ3500D.htm It is based on the typical expectation of power output on a 4 ohm reactive load at 12.8 volts.
  23. Interestingly... when I was running them at 1/2 ohm each I got up to 2640 watts from one of my 1500s on burps and still never blew the fuses.
  24. I do have ~10 or so more used 3000Ds - e-mail me if interested.
