Box Modification SPL Gains
So far the 1500s aren't much liking the 0.25 load. I can roll it and get a score but not high enough to do a GOOD score. So I may just need to wait for 3500s and use the 0.5 DCR load for now and then build some other subs later once I get it all dialed it for the 0.375 DCR load again.

Box Modification SPL Gains
Woops - I made a mistake earlier... must have looked at the wrong data for the subs I was using before. They are 3.0 DCR and not 3.5 DCR as I was assuming before. With those D4 coils all in parallel I had 0.375 DCR per amp, which is more like a 0.5 ohm nominal load. With the D1 Nightshades I built I have an actual 0.50 DCR load per amp, which is more like 0.70 ohms nominal. Even still... it is doing 154.3 dB with a DCR much higher. I may have to wire the amps down lower and try it that way with these coils. Or use a different amp configuration like four 1500Ds wired down to 0.25 DCR each to get a better comparison.

SAZ-3500D Pre-Order
Unfortunately stuff does happen to delay shipments hence in the first post : "The current ETA is around May 11th to May 20th -- this is a rough estimate. As always, with a pre-order the ETA is subject to change based on shipping delays, etc, etc. PLEASE do not pre-order unless you are okay with any delays that may occur." I will keep everyone up to date I want two for my Jeep as well!

Yesterday customs was still playing with them. So we'll see if they keep to the original ETA.

NightShade 12
Yes, they like SMALL boxes.
-
I have some used Nightshade Motors
Either is fine - you really don't need more than 12 awg.

I have some used Nightshade Motors
You can buy em when ready!

nightshade 12 or?
They were made for 1500 RMS - but everyone loves to run more than rated power on everything.

Box Modification SPL Gains
Wait and see I tore up a sub today @ a MECA show doing drive-by SPL so I'll have to build two new ones for testing.

Box Modification SPL Gains
I trim it down a bit to fit.

The new 8 inch sub
Enclosure specs will be very similar.

Box Modification SPL Gains
Not quite in this setup. I am at 0.45 DCR per amp with this setup - so I'd say more like 4k per amp tops.

Box Modification SPL Gains
I am using Stinger HPM 8 awg power wire for speaker wire.

Box Modification SPL Gains
Not quite ready for resin yet.

A quick E8 question need answer please
You can pretty much negate displacement from your calculation as it is so small... around 0.05 ft^3

Z Series 15
Use the 1000D as it is rated for 1000 RMS.
- New SAE-1200!

Box Modification SPL Gains
Tried a few things with no success : No change - 155.6 --- LOSS - Down 0.2 to 155.4 --- This has gained me in the past... but not today, did 155.5 dB this way. --- 155.5 dB again --- So no more gains yet!

Box Modification SPL Gains
Yep - any sort of brace, corner piece, etc takes up box volume. So far it has not been enough to significantly alter my frequency or score. I am hoping when I make them into arcs rather than 45s that they will smooth out air flow a bit and add a tenth or two more.

The new 8 inch sub
How about IB? We'll see

Box Modification SPL Gains
Yesterday I put in another 45 degree piece: Nothing really changed - did 155.2 dB. Then I drilled holes to get the speaker wires out of the port... no change. BUT they were not sealed up - just holes. --- TODAY I got threaded brass rod, washers, and nuts to make a proper connection : I should add that before I had a smaller wire jumping from one coil to the other to parallel the coils. Now I have two sets of wires going to the common point (this is probably part of the gain I saw). So I am up 0.3 dB from my best score and 0.4 from the score I was doing yesterday consistently. I would say part is due to moving the wires out of the port (this has always gained me in the past) and part was due to the superior connection of running two sets of large wires off the coil.
