  1. It's probably fine - the BL should handle that power thermally.
  2. How strong is the smell ? A little bit of coil smell is not unusual at high power.
  3. These have the pole plugs in them - that is standard. The plug covers up the pole vent on the top to direct air behind the former.
  4. They will be sealed or ported woofers still - don't worry!
  5. Well - the ETA to leave customs was Tuesday. I have not heard from them yet that they have left - so it looks like next week. We are still within our ETA range of the 11th to the 20th, though
  6. The E8 is no longer produced - and the remainder of the E woofers I have been working on are being totally re-worked. We are going to make a new 8" one series up from the E series and maybe another one two series up later
  7. I am re-designing them.
  8. STILL AVAILABLE!
  9. Plenty of volume.
  10. I wanted to see how much my internal port PVC piece was doing so I took it out this morning : * With * Without Without - 154.9 dB (verified two runs 12 minutes apart) With - 155.2 dB So that piece is worth around 0.3 dB! The score "with" is within tolerance since my speaker wires moved around in the port with the subs in and out... I need to get those out of the port - will probably do that today before further testing to eliminate that variable.
  11. It has indeed made it a good bit quieter
  12. Yes - 53 Hz is where I need to be.
  13. While I'm in the area I tried something random - metal taping all around the plastic trim piece at the bottom. I didn't have enough time remaining today to take the whole box out and do another 45 piece so I wanted to try something No change... but at least my 155.3 is consistant : There was alot of odd noise on the meter this time, though... not sure why, maybe a fluke.
  14. I am going to start putting corner pieces in my box as well as adding resin. I will be tracking my gains from these things here. I will do each corner with a 45 degree piece first (ripped 4x4 lumber). I will also try pieces that are cut into an arc (same 4x4 but with an arc cut) to see which is louder. This will be done one corner at a time. This may take a while but I am going to start today. Base-Line score from the end of my dampener log : 155.2 dB @ 48 Hz --- First piece in place - screwed in with tape along the top as that edge was rough: This resulted in a GAIN : --- I tested 49 Hz as well to make sure my frequency did not change - I metered 155.2 dB @ 49 Hz. I also gained 0.1 dB here compared to before but it is still not as loud as 48 Hz.
  15. I put all of the important data into one location with no chatter here : http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/96_Jeep/deadener/Log/
  16. So... doors gained me 0.2 dB even against box tuning. I went back and looked at the 155.1 I did at the shop and DJ was leaning on the door slightly - so the 155.0 is the real score to go by for the "before" comparison on doors. --- This puts me at 1 dB gain earlier and 0.2 dB more of gains I was able to track (*) So 1.2 dB up that I know of from dampener. I didn't get to do before and after on the rear floor or high pressure testing of the dampening I did on the rear quarter panels. I wouldn't be surprised if dampener hasn't given me more like 1.5 dB total. * - When I lost the mysterious 0.1 earlier with the single sub setup I found the cause - at some point I had broken the glue above my spider on the triple joint so the coil was sliding around a bit. I am guessing this was at some point when I was driving around playing music on it with four 1500s @ 1/2 ohm each. So the 152.1 was a real number but with the glue breakage I slipped back 0.1 dB --- I am pretty much done now - I can still go back in and double layer the doors but I won't do that until I get the peak back to where it should be in the 50s by re-tuning the box. I can also dampen the front floor board as I haven't done that yet... that may be a while as I'll have to take a ton of stuff out to do it. If I make more gains by adding more dampener I will come back and make a new post in the log!
  17. Frequency DID change and I am left with some gains: 47 Hz - 155.1 dB 48 Hz - 155.2 dB 49 Hz - 155.1 dB So it is shifting me in the direction I want to go - I bet if I cut the port down slightly I'd gain even more since my frequency has shifted. Keep in mind I am currently fighting box tuning since this box is still tuned down low so I may be making more "actual" gains for later on when I get the tuning right again.
  18. These are pre-selling pretty quick We may be shipping out most of them by the time they get here at this rate!
  19. Two more days.
  20. Been posting my log in my section and on several other forums. I have gained at least 1 dB of accounted for SPL. Since my test is not perfectly scientific it could be more than that... even the parts of the job that don't gain me make the vehicle much more solid and less noisy outside and in.
  21. Would 4 cubes be good for two on a SAZ-1500D or would I need to go smaller with the box? With anything over rated power stick to the suggest box size or smaller.
  22. * Normal ride height restored! * New threaded pieces welded in with shock bolted to them. * Bottom of air shock * Another view * Valve on rear bumper.
  23. I wouldn't say a bunch - but I have a few.
  24. Got it We torched the bolts out and got some weld-in pieces with threads from a local specialty fastener store that worked great. All new Grade-8 and/or Stainless steel fasteners used as well. Air shocks are ON - and the Jeep is actually riding at normal height for the first time since I got it.
  25. If you plan to put it on the Meter - DP. Quite a bit higher BL^2 / RE and designed for this type of thing. If you do not plan to be on the meter then both are still excellent choices. I heard the Xcons and they sound good in a nice daily box - smooth response.
