  1. Yep. Revised models coming with 100.4s
  2. Box is also only single thickness I am going to meter it each time I add a layer to each face to see what kind of gains are made - as a sort of reference for myself and others. I think the top layer will probably end up being three layers - that will give the cooling vents in the motor more room to breathe and better air flow around the magnet structure in general. --- The head-unit is holding us back too. I have to roll the volume up and there is only so fast I can get it to full (no pause) so I am draining current as I go. It is not exactly a high end unit either so I imagine the RCA voltage is pretty poor.
  3. If I can re-organize the vehicle and get fully external aero-ports I'll try them. --- Found another reason for it to be dropping off - our spring loaded terminals were loose as heck. We tightened them up and put CA glue on the nuts so it won't happen again. Sub is holding up just fine - no signs of physical or thermal stress. We aren't sure when the terminals got loose - so the score may be higher. We will meter again soon and see what it does after I get the box secured - it is dancing around alot now
  4. 149.5 dB right off the bat @ 53 Hz. My alternator is pretty sad so it starting dropping after that. Had to pull the CD player out of the dash and hold it to register that
  5. I'll meter it today most likely - it sounds louder than before, I can tell it is much peakier to the ear.
  6. New box for testing. About 3 cubes or so actual box volume - much higher tuning.
  7. Could also be a coincidence too, hard to say - if your amp is still playing fine it is probably fine. Only thing you should check for is DC on that side.
  8. New box ready Pics and results Monday!
  9. Are you using any sort of amplitude correction on the right side ? I know that I always fade to the right in my cars since those speakers are farther away.
  10. Great work Mark!
  11. sundownz replied to danracer's topic in Sundown Audio
    Glad it is working well
  12. We have a few that we have re-built and Mike Bruno (woofercooker on ca.com) is selling some as well. As for new stock... probably 4-6 weeks.
  13. Did you measure the output ? Check for DC ? Also keep in mind that the 100.2 is *significantly* under-rated, could simply be too much power.
  14. Once I get more stock in I'll be adding them to the site
  15. Quite possible with a good install. Several customers are in the 150s with two NS 15s and two 1500Ds.
  16. Whenever they get here it will be over, yes. That is my current ETA for them.
  17. Efficiency is on level with the SAZ models.
  18. You would need to talk to your Canadian dealer about participation. I am sure he will work with you, though! [email protected] His participation is optional since he is not in the USA, but Brad has been known to match USA sales in Canada (with some additional shipping of course).
  19. Now you can do just about anything with it! A little SAX-100.4 history: SAX-100.4 -- Original model SAX-100.4B -- Updated crossover ranges SAX-100.4C -- Upgraded from 50-amp to 70-amp power supply transistors SAX-100.4D -- This is the newest model ----- The following functionality will be had with the crossovers: ALL CHANNELS: Subsonic @ 10 Hz - 500 Hz (always on, can be used as the HPF for a band-pass setup in conjunction with the LPF) HPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 button (selectable 12dB / 24dB slope) LPF @ 50 Hz - 500 Hz w/ x10 button (selectable 12dB / 24dB slope) ----- So, what will you be able to do with the new model that you couldn't do before ? 1) You can bridge the amp and actively band-pass a midrange / midbass thanks to x10 functionality on both HPF and LPF on both sets of channels. 2) You can cross-over tweeters much lower with the 24 dB slopes. I have had several requests to implement this from people wanting to use planar tweeters as well, as these require steeper slopes. 3) You can experiment with overlap with the selectable slopes. 4) Most importantly for reliability and consistency... the small sub-cards that hold the crossovers will be re-tooled as double sided boards instead of single-sided. Almost all problems with previous SAX-100.4s were the result of solder problems on the single sided crossover PCB - as uncommon as these problems were we took care of the source! All of these changes will result in a bit longer amp to fit the new crossover boards (about 1.5" longer), but will be worth it for the SQ enthusiasts who will appreciate this type of functionality. ----- Special pre-order price until they arrive - current ETA is 8-10 weeks or so from the date of this posting - $325 shipped in the continental 48-states!. Contact for shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, and outside the USA. You can take advantage of this via an authorized dealer or directly from Sundown Audio by sending Paypal to [email protected] with a note reading "SAX-100.4D pre-order" NOTE: This pre-order is for the USA and countries that DO NOT have an authorized Sundown Audio distributor ONLY. ----- 10-23-08 UPDATE: Current ETA is November 21st.
  20. 50.2 prototypes Indeed Not sure exactly what I'd call them if released... but they are good for about 50x2 @ 4 ohms, if not a bit more. They are running front and rear components in the Jeep.
  21. The outlet will be 60 Hz - not quite right for my car
  22. Ah yes - that they are
  23. Yep - sent out one of the two we had sent to us express ahead of the main shipment Looking forward to a review and pics for the forum
