  1. Shipping is going to be ridiculous to Hawaii on these! I think I could get darn near 150 out of it with a halfway decent box and two 1500s.
  2. This is all I have posted of the sub so far: Specs as built with 5-spiders and 8-layer round coil: Specs in series: Re = 1.76 ohms Fs = 44.3 Hz Qes = 0.38 Qms = 14.52 Qts = 0.37 Le = 3.87 mH Vas = 20.69 L Bl = 24.40 N/A Cms = 27.67 uM/N Sens = 88.56 1w/1m This was the original thread about it: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=19519
  3. I would prefer to build them in 15s and 18s - but I suppose I could build them as 12s upon request.
  4. Yep - in the Jeep w/ the test box from the videos. Really need a sub up / port back style box.
  5. My ears are ringing a bit from driving home with it up really loud
  6. I'll throw up a few pics tomorrow. We still have it in the ghetto test box, but it actually sounds quite good... two 1500s strapped @ 2 ohms are powering it, I have my primary battery, factory alternator, and two Powermaster D3100s backing them up. Metered 144.1 dB @ 52 Hz in the test box - which is really terrible on the meter - same box in the YouTube videos of the monster. I'd like to get it into a smaller box and strap the 1500s down really low and see what she'll do - then strap some 3000s on it What surprised me the most is how good it sounds - obviously its not an SQ woofer but, it sounds quite good. Certainly does not sound like an extreme fart-cannon sub by any means! Now, that will all change when we test the 12-layer coil... but the 8-layer is *definitely* daily friendly even with the extreme 5-spider pack in place. With me behind the controls the sub is not sweating at all with the two 1500s on it. I'll have to break out the ear plugs and really give it a run.

The truck had RE MT 18s in it - so just about anything will work in that style. The truck now has Nightshade 18s in it I called the new owner of the truck so he can post his videos for you. Let me know on the amps!
  8. RMS: 200 watts Z: 8 ohms Re: 7.03 ohms Fs: 26 Hz Qms: 10.83 Qes: 0.53 Qts: 0.51 VAS: 100 L BL: 17.0 NA
  9. I am not 100% sure as I do not have an SX motor to compare with here.
  10. I don't suggest over 18 volts for any sort of continuous play time.

Alvin, Yes, my truck was able to play all kinds of music - the peak was at 48 Hz but it could play music very well. The small sealed rear-chamber prevents the woofers from moving too far even at very low frequencies. It did drop off under the peak but still did ~150 dB at 30 Hz and 158.8 dB at 48 Hz. It was very loud outside - someone called the police from 1 mile away and I got a noise ticket for it when I had it
  12. Use a telephone cord y-splitter - its a completely standard telephone cord

4th order FTMFW That design looks very similar to the Chevy that I had for a while w/ the four 18s - worked great!
  14. Not sure that anyone has done a direct swap comparison.
  15. Right. I cannot necessarily track down someone who bought from a dealer, those customers must contact their dealer to get a copy of their original invoice.
  16. Hmmm - that is really weird. Anyway, just e-mail me and I'll look you up on Monday.
  17. Great, glad they are working well for you! No problem on the Powermaster tip - they are awesome batteries!
  18. Thats really impressive for just the one amp and one sub!
  19. Indeed - the prices are incredibly low for how great these look.
  20. Is there any reason in particular you can't get D1 woofers ? Chances are you aren't going to have an issue with a 3000D at 1/2 ohm with good electrical support - but, I always like to advise customers on the side of caution since they are not covered by warranty when doing so. Have you considered just running two 1500s @ 2 ohms strapped, then ?
  21. Hook them up and play them - the buzz may very well go away when loaded.
  22. Plenty of people run them at 1/2 ohm - but you need to ask yourself if you want to void your warranty for a small power gain that will likely only show up on an SPL meter.
  23. Voltage in a parallel circuit is constant - like the wiring in your house, all the outlets read the same voltage.
