  1. Depends on many variables for the surround - for this design it worked best to achieve the smoothest frequency response. They are 88.4 1w/1m (true rating, not 2.83v... at 2.83v they are 91.4 dB).
  2. They are on a boat... say 3-4 weeks or so. I am considering a pre-sale on these - who is interested ? Lets say... 350 dollars for the pre-order ?
  3. Original post has a link to a review by JimJ - pretty reputable SQ guy on SSA. Have never tested them IB - I imagine they would work fine with lower power.
  4. Alright guys... final push to move them out. Any qty $85 shipped each. I have around 20 left.
  5. It does reduce gain.
  6. I have plans for a deeper driver later for the guys that can fit a bigger driver - but I want this one out first since it fills a sorely needed niche, IMO.
  7. For burps, no sweat. The goal is four 3000Ds on burps - that will largely depend on perfecting our assembly techniques - which I think we have, pending more testing. The other goal is to play music on an SAZ-3000D cranked hard daily no sweat - which it seems to do nicely so far in testing.
  8. Pending testing.
  9. The amp I am working on is 4000 watts @ 0.01% THD and 12.0 volts supply - that clean enough ? For SPL burps... over 6000 watts, still all the way down to 12.0 volts (it is regulated, will not gain power with more voltage - just reduce current draw). If we are lucky I'll have that out by June of 2009.
  10. If we're really lucky, we won't find anything under 3.5" depth that will compete. Or is that hoping for too much? Not sure if I'll go that far or not There are some damn fine offerings if you add another inch - but some people can NOT fit that much depth, period.
  11. For now I just have a single driver - once I get them final and produced you are welcome to review a set I don't think you will find anything under 2.5" depth that will compete.
  12. I offered it because people were bugging me about it... then nobody was willing to put up the money. So I shelved the idea and I am working on a totally different amp for something over the 3000D.
  13. I have no idea - I have not tested those speakers. For the price it will be an awesome driver. I will work on other things later on not constrained by depth and a certain price point.
  14. No, I have no estimates at this time.
  15. I am getting estimates on cost to produce 100 motors... I'll do some math and see if it makes sense.
  16. *laughs* She isn't my girl - just a friend of ours.
  17. On a 16v setup you can get ~5kw from a 3000D, FYI.
  18. I am considering making a limited run of "monster" subs - what do people think it would be worth? A Nightshade 15" retails for $599 MSRP... I was thinking about $799 MSRP and, of course, an special "limited" introductory price that would be - IMO - pretty fair. If they remain popular I may continue to make them - but a limited run of 100 pcs total between all sizes would be good to test the waters. These are pretty expensive to make after the amount and types of glue required to get our desired result... we use several kinds of specialized glues, we only use CA to hold the spiders in the pack to one another. Our other glues are 2-5x more expensive than CA glue.
  19. Just added... I have a few used 1500s for sale... New Case (four) - $375 each (nearly mint) Old Case (one) - $325 (normal wear and tear) Shipped prices in the 48 states... 1 year warranties.
  20. About half the 4 ohm power. Yes.
  21. thx considder it sold btw does it matter what freq the sine wave is when i do the mutilmeter test on the rca'outputs? Just make sure it is not in the crossover range so its not being cut out. Around 40-45 Hz should be a safe bet.
  22. Track #17 from Bass Mekanik 5.0
  23. I figured there would be - I still have some serious testing to do before I can build them, of course.
  24. Without pushing the 3000 to the limits you will be alright - it is quite efficient.
