  1. Excellent, that sub should get quite loud without a ton of juice
  2. The amps are in California at the moment from our current update (just now) -- they should arrive at our shop shortly after CES. I know some people have been anxiously awaiting this ! Here are a few pics of a complete product from the factory :
  3. I will be out of town from January 7th to 17th this year for CES and another business trip on the west coast. I will be back to work on January 18th. I will answer as many e-mails as possible but do not be surprised if you don't get a response for a while -- while I am gone the shop will be staffed but some things that I am still working on training others to do will have to wait until I get back or at the least take much longer to get done. You can still reach Brandon or Debbie by e-mail for sales and tech questions : [email protected] -- Tech Questions, Misc Questions. [email protected] -- Ordering Questions Oddball orders for strange parts or stuff from the back room sales and whatnot will likely have to wait until I get back. Most "regular" orders will still be going out. Don't be surprised if there are longer ship times that normal, though. Some pre-order items will arrive while I'm gone -- most will likely still go out without any issue.
  4. Sundown Audio Shirts Available Available in the following sizes / pricing: Shipped prices in continental 48 states. Small -- $15 shipped Medium -- $16 shipped Large -- $16 shipped XL -- $18 shipped 2XL -- $20 shipped 3XL -- $21 shipped 4XL -- $22 shipped 5XL - $25 shipped Paypal to [email protected] Newer thread... old one got huge.
  5. Any v.2 threads would be pretty old -- it used a 4-layer aluminum or copper coil. The v.3 uses a bigger 8-layer coil and different soft parts -- more rugged.
  6. Newest production run arrived a few weeks ago -- we changed the output FETs to the same parts the newest 3500Ds are using (more powerful) and made a few other small tweaks. 0.5 ohm performance is now just as good as the v.1 1500D while maintaining the slightly better 1 ohm performance that we had already achieved on the v.2 model. I don't have any 1500D v.1s around the shop right now so I'm using previously tested data : 1500D v.1 POWER : 1970 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 49.25 V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 40 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.23 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 12.85 V 1500D v.2 POWER : 2030 Watts AMP VOLTAGE (measured) : 47.4v V AMP CURRENT (calculated) : 42.8 A ACTUAL IMPEDANCE (calculated) : 1.11 ohms SUPPLY VOLTAGE : 13.3 V So essentially identical performance within margin of error now on 0.5 ohm operation -- which is great since the v.2 is 1.6" shorter than the v.1 model was ! I'll have to get some 16v testing done too -- but I may wait until I actually have a v.1 model 1500D around to do it head to head. I'm sure I'll get one traded in again eventually.
  7. 0.5 to 0.75 each depending on your power -- tuned low... 30-35
  8. Looking at these hitting the port in Savannah on the 9th or January -- I will be out of town upon their arrival but pre-orders should go out the week of the 16th as I'll be back on the 17th.
  9. 2" -- but we are getting power handling like most 2.5" drivers from it (see thermal test)
  10. Some more specs : Mounting Depth : 6 5/8" Cut-Out Diameter : 186.5mm (7.33") -- 7 3/8" should be snug. Weight : 22.5 lbs RMS Power : 500 RMS
  11. It is MUUUUUCH better ported but in a TINY sealed box the F3 is 70 Hz -- you would need to EQ up the bottom end which would be alright as the sub has plenty of mechanical and thermal headroom.
  12. It is based 100% on the cost to produce the sub -- I added ZERO dollars to cover my tooling investment in this driver (In the 5 digits dollar figure wise). Had I figured in tooling expenses and the 100s of hours of testing it would be $200+ easily. It is a pretty advanced driver in regards to assembly so MUCH more labor with spaced spiders, two triple joint rings, dual round lead wires, etc. All of these add up. I've built a few here at the shop for prototype testing and it takes me about 250% longer to build one than it does an SA-12 for reference. If you aren't in the market for a TOP of the line 8" subwoofer in terms of high bandwidth / low distortion output I would really suggest looking elsewhere -- I went all out on this design using no standard parts at all (except the dust cap). The only thing even CLOSE on the market is the JL Audio 8W7 and it is $400+ I am looking at making a third 8" in our line between the E8 v.2 and SA-8 v.2 to fill in the old price of the original SA-8
  13. 1) I did... they factory assured me they can get them to sit straight up and down on production and there was no price break for doing the spade terminals... so we kept the push. 2) Yes. 3) Minimal.
  14. I sent my last set home with Sean so I had him measure them real quick. Depth : 3" Cut-Out : 5 11/16"
  15. We rate them 100 RMS like we do the 8s -- they have a 2" coil and excellent coil cooling, though. Most mids rated for 100 RMS would burn to the ground taking what these do thermally... the rating is more of a conservative mechanical rating for those that run them down to lower frequencies.
  16. They would work on the v.1s as well, yes.
  17. These should ship out from our Factory on February 15th -- so we should have them around March 15th. They will be available in 4 ohm and 8 ohm configurations. Original discussion was here : -- PLEASE read this before asking any questions in case it's been answered. I will put up mounting data shortly. *Updated* I sent my last set home with Sean so I had him measure them real quick. Depth : 3" Cut-Out : 5 11/16" These are designed as car audio midrange AND midbass drivers -- they sound a bit different from most of the "PA" style drivers on the market as they were designed to produce mid-bass in a car door. 19. I haven't opened the NeoPro-6.5 pre-order yet -- but I will shortly.
  20. I made a Dual-1 8-layer aluminum SPL coil unit for Sean with an extra spider... FS was 59Hz after some break-in so NOT good for a daily application. Due to the new ultra linear spider we have to get the FS starting out closer to the burp frequency as we lack the shift in CMS that causes FS rise with a less linear spider. Best score to date of 152.4 "outlaw" style with 3kw clamped power -- the most we've ever put to an SA-8 to date. The sub was really only at about 1/2-2/3 stroke as well -- where the old SA-8s were hitting the triple joint on the top plate before this point. We are very pleased as Sean's car mysteriously lost around 2dB a while back and we've had to come up with other things to gain that back... and now we've actually topped the old score without ever fixing whatever the mystery problem is (as we still don't know). Just for good measure we also plan to test with two spiders (standard) and the SPL coil to see if we really needed the extra spider. We also plan to try adding more power since we have more stroke left.
  21. I did but he stopped replying It's been like 5 days since i got a response so i was just going to get a Crescendo bc3500 and let you know about the 1200d but if it's under warranty might as well get it fixed and get a new amp later on when i planned to Working on e-mails this morning.
  22. Once available I will get the ETA up -- as of not not yet available.
  23. Production has not started on any SAE amps yet -- still in testing
  24. No this one will NOT have fancy crossovers -- the old one did and it pushed the cost up too much and there simply weren't enough buyers for it. Will you/can you offer an amp without any crossover built in for those of us running active processors looking for inexpensive amplification? I'm not planning on making a separate line without any crossovers at all, no. The SAE amps will have significantly less features and you could just disable them.
