Sundown Audio CLOSED June 20 - 24
Sundown will be CLOSED June 20 - 24th 2008. My brother is getting married and I'll be in Florida. I'll have my lap-top so I'll get to as many e-mails and forum posts as I can... but nothing will ship during that time.

SunDown 3000
Either way... it's plenty of power. TC Sounds had several SAZ-3000Ds and 1500Ds on hand that they used to test their products with in vehicles. Interesting, huh ?

Vote for SAZ-1000D!
I like the SAZ-1000D idea, but my opinion on the others is: (1) Turn the SAZ-3000D into an SAZ-4000D and drop the nightshade NS-4000D idea. (2) Instead of the SAE-800D, downsize the internals, heatsink, etc. and label it an SAE-500D for the plug & play crowd The NS-4000D is a totally different amp from the rest of the line and requires it's own separate line. Regulated power supply, totally different topology, heat-sink will have to be taller to accommodate all the huge parts, etc, etc. I'm not the biggest fan of anything over 3kw built in the same factory as the SAZ / SAX lines. They are good amps but service is a huge pain on them, and I don't like the idea of having a big, expensive, paper-weight left over if something happens to the amp. Besides, the NS-4000D is simply a superior design - plain and simple. I think the SAE line still needs an in between mode... 500D, 800D, and 1200D is the plan.

Sundown Audio Battery
It has been a passing thought - but there are no near term plans to do so. Until then I will continue to suggest Powermaster.

E8 Intro Sale
I am going to un-pin this until I know if I have any more a-stock woofers to sell.

Vote for SAZ-1000D!
Not likely - swapping the heat-sink would involve completely removing the board and leaves room for user error, that would create warranty concerns. Would also create confusion in that the SAZ-1000D version WILL have board modifications done - so it would be hard to tell which amp you really had when buying / selling.

SunDown 3000
Oh, thought he just had one sub. For TWO subs you need two 1500s as it will be 0.7 per woofer final load.
-
SunDown 3000
Indeed - 0.7 DCR is a normal 1 ohm load. Totally fine. Chris @ db-r.com has a few refurbished 3000s (2 I believe).

Glad to see the idea is popular

E8 Intro Sale
It is bolted and glued down to the motor. Re-Cone parts will be cheaper than a new sub. I have a couple b-stocks laying around - have only sold a-stock so far.

I'd be interested to see what sort of numbers the Nightshade 15s would do for you in your box

E8 Intro Sale
I have some b-stocks available - only the a-stocks are on hold. I am also working on getting parts in stock - as I plan to re-build the ones that did not pass QC.

I will have a few "in between" woofer series later on, yes. Some of the drivers with slap are pretty bad - others just barely tap at high excursion levels. The ones I am willing to sell as b-stock are the ones that barely tap - I will not ship the bad ones to anyone, period. A felt pad really would not help as the tapping seems to be against the spider. You would be unable to hear it in a trunk, but MAY be able to pick it up in a hatchback or SUV. I am sitting about 12" away from the driver outside of a box when testing and I'm very particular about what passes QC.

Some original SD-1 12" Available
They would work great!

Vote for SAZ-1000D!
There will still be over 100 more sold of the current SAE-1000Ds Will be several more months until any changes make it to market.
-
Vote for SAZ-1000D!
My build cost would go up a bit under 10% to make the changes but I don't see passing on all of that to the dealers / customers. I may pass on 1/2 of it to dealer cost which may translate into 5-15 dollars more street cost but MSRP will remain the same.

Vote for SAZ-1000D!
The 1000D is actually shorter @ 11.5" vs. the 100.2 @ 13.375" - but yes, when converted to the SAZ-1000D it will have the SAX / SAZ casing.
-
Vote for SAZ-1000D!
Will be looking at converting to the SAZ-1000D towards October to November as more of the current SAE-1000D are coming in August along with the 3000Ds. Once those are gone the conversion will be made to the SAZ-1000D.
