1500D each is perfect Several customers are doing 150s on music with 1500 each on a pair of 15s.

If it was quiet I would check phase very carefully too on each driver - even with almost no wattage that many should be really loud.

I did EE in college - they didn't really teach me much about power amplifiers so I didn't finish the program. Too much digital stuff for me... lost interest.

Indeed - could be something else. 2 ohms stereo is just like 4 ohms bridged, and 100s of people do that

That sounds like a really crazy inductive load - 8 speakers on one channel. I would check for wiring errors - put a DMM on it and see what the DCR is.

Thanks man, the main thing is I am trying to learn amp design and figure I may be able to learn some from the datasheets. I m going to be an EE and possible a CPE afterall, lol. Sure, no problem The IRF3205 is pretty common in Class-D amps, I know Memphis uses them. The IXYS parts I have not seen used in other amps before, but seem to perform very well.

I think the majority seem to like the small foot-print - so I will hold off changing the SAE line further until I can develop a small case model with the new build house. The current SAE-1000D is extremely reliable already, probably has the fewest warranty cases of any model I sell.

Hopefully will have the 1200Ds in July to early August!
