  1. Maybe, maybe not. If the 3" coil can do what I want then I won't use a 4" coil. If necessary it will use a 4" coil. I'd rather use a 3" so I can use the same size ID cones and spiders as the Nightshade. It will use totally different coils, though. This driver would be very customizable with different cones, coils, and spider compliances available. With the proper options it will be very daily friendly, it could also be optioned out to be a burp sub.

Who would be interested in a bigger sub than the Nightshade ? Think Shocker Sig sized motor. Triple stack 10" diameter slugs
  3. On that note... the newer SAX-100.4s *might* be okay with a responsible gain setting. The one I tested failed when temperature changed in the summer, and was an "old" heat-sink style SAX-100.4 unit. The new 100.4s have a beefier heat-sink and 70 amp FETs vs. 50 amp FETs for the older amps. I still am very hesitant to suggest these, but it may do okay with a higher DCR "2 ohm" load.
  4. It won't go any higher than resting at 16.5 volts. It'll just draw a bit less current. The results under the High Voltage test thread are the most power the amp will produce before protection.
  5. You are the first guy to try one sealed Glad you like it so far!
  6. Not likely. They will be running out right around mid to late June then they will be out for 4-6 weeks. I hope to have my one by then. Got more work done on the Jeep today. So I need to talk to you about it. Hit me up whenever you get a moment. Hurry it up then! J/K
  7. IMO... port is way too big. Shrink it down and try metering again PS: I agree that a 6th order may be worth a shot.
  8. Danrnit I paid 150 for it a few weeks ago At $150 they did include a warranty. They now only have a non-DOA guarantee at the lower rate.
  9. Eli, I tested it. The amp lasted for about 4 months and blew the power supply for those channels. I can't guarantee long term reliability.
  10. In the general area of 1/2
  11. On the note of TRU and products still Made in the USA. 99% of the semiconductors still come from Asia Many of the PCB boards will still come from Asia Many other components will also come from Asia It's just the reality of our global economy. As for making an alternative American line - I'd love to. But, the reality is that the economy won't allow it. I listen to people complain about the "high" prices on my existing products already, every day. Just as with the SD-1 v.2 line... people throw out the "Made in USA" part and compare prices to products made in China. For every 1 person who wants to buy an American made product for double the cost there are 1000 that would rather have a cheaper product. It even holds true with South Korea vs. China... which is why my SAE line is being moved to China, for those not even willing to pay the Korean price (ALOT of people won't even pay that).
  12. Half gain does not equal half power. Gain is to match the amp to your pre-out voltage. A high voltage HU can get full output from the amp at zero gain. The remote only cuts the gain from where it is set at the amp, it can't go any higher.
  13. A very tiny amount, you can pretty well ignore it for calculations... if you want to figure it in it's less than 0.1 ft^3
  14. Nice
  15. I would love to make them in America but it is SO much more expensive to do so. The SAX and SAZ lines will likely remain South Korea made whereas the SAE line will be moving to China. I experimented with "Made in USA" with my SD-1 woofer line and found that nobody is willing to pay the price premium, which is why they are on close-out sale now. They were as much made in the USA as possible, even the steel motor parts were made in the USA.
  16. These are 8s only right now. I have a 12" model that will be next, followed by a 10" model in the "E" line.
  17. South Korea for all current model amps. The upcoming SAE-1200D is made in China.
  18. Not likely. They will be running out right around mid to late June then they will be out for 4-6 weeks.
  19. Neat box design
  20. Thats where all my 3000s went
  21. The SD-1 v.2 10" subwoofer is going on sale! Fantastic dual 4-ohm voice coil USA made driver. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...showtopic=18579 * Review by JimJ MSRP was $229 on these drivers. You won't be able to find another fully USA manufactured driver that is as shallow and performs as well for near the blow-out price of $115 *shipped* in the USA each. This is HALF the original price. COMBO DEALS: SAX-100.2 + 2x SD-1 v.2 10" - $425 (shipped) SAE-1000D + 2x SD-1 v.2 10" - $500 (shipped) *** 1000Ds are sold out right now - July 23, 2008 Paypal me at [email protected] to take advantage of this offer. Due to the blow-out pricing these subs include only a warranty against DOA and no further warranty. Re-cone parts will remain available for quite some time, though! We are making room for the next generation SD-1 v.3 model. ---------- DESCRIPTION: These subs will throw down in very small enclosures and will now handle much more power than the original SD-1. Ideal for shallow truck enclosures! They utilize a single 6" diameter magnet slug to achieve the necessary flux. Behind the cone you will find a progressive roll spider and a special treatment applied to the back of surround and upper lip of the cone to get more stability from the surround and to bring the Mms to where it needed to be. The leads are offset out to the sides and slightly raised to eliminate the possibility for slapping and the motor itself has quite a bit of clearance for the coil thanks to a deeply bumped back plate. These are serious SQ subs in a very shallow and efficient package. Made the in the USA to the highest possible standards to last for many years to come. SPECIFICATIONS: Dual 4-ohm impedance 2.5" diameter voice coil Kapton voice coil former 400-watts RMS rated power 12mm linear excursion one-way 4.5" mounting depth Narrow profile foam surround for low Mms and maximum cone area High quality polypropylene cone and dust cap MADE IN USA Qes = 0.437 Qms = 4.545 Qts = 0.399 Fs = 28.77 Hz VAS = 56.92 L Mms = 88 grams Cms = 337 uM/N RE = 7.31 ohms (series) BL = 16.55 N/A (series) Le = 2.13 mH (series)
  22. Closing this thread... starting new one. This model will be discontinued and blown out with limited warranty.
  23. Doesn't look like the 5k will be made. Really doesn't hurt my feelings - but nobody can say I didn't give the customers a chance to make it happen!
  24. That shouldn't be a problem
  25. I expect them to last another 4-6 weeks then I'll be out for 4-6 weeks before getting more.
