Attention Team Sundown and other customers looking at 3000s. At the current rate of sales the 3000Ds will run out before I get more in stock. This year has shown incredible sales for the 3000Ds, well beyond my predicted averages. Just a heads up so you can make your plans accordingly if you NEED some before they are out. I estimate that they will be out of stock for 4-6 weeks once they are out. As an alternative there will be plenty of 1500Ds in stock during that time.

I've always had great luck setting them by ear until it sounds right to me I'm not an RTA but I know what I like to hear.

1 ohm un-strapped per amp is slightly more powerful than strapped @ 2 ohms. It is not an audible difference. It may even be small enough to not show up on the meter, if so, maybe 1/10th. Strapping is useful for convenience purposes or to put more power to a single coil.

I am considering canning this idea early due to lack of interest - despite all the votes very few are coming forward. If nobody speaks up I'll go ahead and end this.

Not in a car - the vehicle transfer function will make the driver pretty well flat to ~20 Hz with a 50 Hz F3 out of car. The F3 is very similar in the larger box, but it extends the very low-end slightly and increases efficiency.

Yep - 0.35 ft^3 would give you a 0.671 Qtc. Stuff some poly in there for even lower.

Rearding size - the SAE-1000D is still VERY small. Even for a tight install it's rare that the smaller size of the PDX will net any real advantage. ... and Tech does know a thing or two about car audio

These 8s sealed would be very "punchy" IMO. I think you are looking for a lower Qtc alignment since the muddy sound you describe may be a peak in the 50s from a box that is too small. Fortunately a "big" box for the 8s is still incredibly small.

A large number would be incredibly loud. With 32 of them you could strap the amps @ 2 ohms for 187.5 watts each. And yes, they are still on pre-order. If you really want 32 of them PM me for a price on that many.

The challenge was so far back I don't recall what all the drivers sounded like (I was there). In any event, the E8 is a very good sounding driver. It would do better IB than the Tang-Band 8" driver. The CMP 8 is a bit larger and I don't think it is made any more, not as far as I know. I'm sure it also cost quite a bit more than the E8.
