Talk about 5k amp List Here
It's more in WIDTH than the current heatsink... should barely be any longer than the SAZ-3000D, if not about the same length.

E8 Pre-Order / Intro Sale
I'll have to talk to Sean and see what it's doing in his daily box, although, I believe he ran the "fart box" daily and it worked nicely.

E8 Pre-Order / Intro Sale
Towards the end of May.

E8 Pre-Order / Intro Sale
Yup, they should work fine IB.

SAZ 2000d to come after 5k?
There will be several hundred more SAZ-1500Ds sold, they are the current model until the SAE-1200D arrives.

E8 Pre-Order / Intro Sale
Rated for 200 watts RMS. Sean has had the original prototype for quite a while on a 400-watt amp - using common sense one can use a larger amp on them, but don't get carried away. We also "burp" tested one with 800 watts and got a bit over 143 dB in his CRX (legal at the windshield, windows up) in a 4th order bandpass.

E8 Pre-Order / Intro Sale
The final specs will look like this: Re = 3.37 ohms (4 ohm nominal) Fs = 34.9 hz Qes = 0.5323 Qms = 6.93 Qts = 0.4943 Vas = 7.6 L BL = 13.3 N/A Mms = 127.7 grams Cms = 162 um/N Xmax = 12mm one-way linear (70% BL method) Rated RMS Power = 200 watts Depth = 4.25" OD w/ gasket = 8 5/16" Cut Out = 7" Sealed Box: 0.280 ft^3 w/ F3 of 50 Hz (Qtc = 0.707) Ported Box: 0.60 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz F3 of 25 Hz ----- So... anyone who wants to pre-order these can do so whenever they feel like it. I will continue to run the intro sale for a few weeks after they come in, so no hurry - but if the money is burning a hole in your pocket - order away! Paypal $65 each to [email protected] for one driver. If you want FOUR of them then send over $240 and they are yours (60 each). If you want EIGHT of them then send over $440 and they are yours (55 each). Prices are shipped in the continental USA. ----- Production models will have black basket and motor.

8 inch woofer?
As listed above: Ported Box: 0.60 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz F3 of 25 Hz Sealed Box: 0.280 ft^3 w/ F3 of 50 Hz (Qtc = 0.707) Don't be nuts with it and four on the 1500D will work just fine. It's a fairly beefy 2" diameter copper coil with good cooling, but not invincible Sean has been running a 400-watt amp on his prototype daily so, using common sense, it can be done without issues.

Welcome to the IHoP
Indeed, sorry! I want to have it for myself as well but other models that will bring more business have to come first. got any eta on the 1600 SAE or the 1800 SAE? Nope. Have not started prototype on them yet. The larger one (either 1600 or 1800, undecided) will be after the SAE-1200D, 800D, 50.4, and 75.2 models, though.

New SAZ-1500D pics
New heatsink was made primarily for the needs of the upcoming SAX-250.2 model - of course, it never hurts for the other models to run cooler either

8 inch woofer?
Xmax is same as listed earlier @ 12mm one-way by 70% BL. SPL sensitivity is on the low side at around 80 dB with 1 watt. Trade-offs were made to get more low-end at the expense of sensitivity. For instance... the Tang-Band 8 has 84 dB sensitivity but has an F3 of 70 Hz sealed. The E8 has 80 dB but an F3 of 50 Hz sealed. Output comes out really close to one another when power is applied in the actual sub-bass realm. The E8 has excellent cooling so will not suffer as much thermal compression with added power either. As Sean demonstrated in his CRX test he was cable of over 140 dB with a single E8, so there is much more to the picture than the SPL sensitivity rating and the on-paper specs VC will be single 4 ohm, also, as listed earlier.

Sundown E12 Driver
Yes, the E8 is first Between 10s and 12s, the 12 is first.

What program do you use to model? Is that PRO/E? The amp looks great. I love my 1000D, can't wait to see what you come up with next! Build house did the rendering based on my current heatsink and my sketch of changes to be made Not sure what they use, exactly.

Future Amplifiers
It's taken me a LONG time to come up with an SAE amp that really hits the price to performance that I want (been working on the SAE-1200D for almost a year). IMO, this SAE-1200D is exactly what I was looking for The other amps to follow in this line will also be great values.

Sundown E12 Driver
There will be later, but 12s will be first.

8 inch woofer?
It would do well IB, sure. I have a few people planning these for midbass. Also sealed or ported work great.
-
Future Amplifiers
Yes, they are different from the current 1000D - all of the future SAE amps will match each other, though! PS: If you can't tell this amp has 5x 30 amp fuses - it does *solid* power.

This amp will actually replace the SAZ-1500D at the consumer level. It will produce around 1500 watts actual output in a regular vehicle at 1 ohm and the price will be between the current SAE-1000D and SAZ-1500D - VERY competitive. It has great protection - over-current around 1600 watts at 1 ohm (clipping) - so will last a long time. Abuse testing for over a month has shown NO issues with this model even with severe voltage drop. Other amps will be following to finally fill out the SAE line - including an updated SAE-1000D model (name changed to 800D, but will produce 1000 watts just like the 1000D does now). It will cost LESS than the current SAE-1000D does. The new SAE amps are not strappable, but do have line-outs to daisy chain - you could also still strap them with an external device such as a Maxx-Link. Also looking at 50x4 and a 75x2 models... perhaps even an SAE-1600D or SAE-1800D to really give the "consumer level" products some punch. So, why the SAE line ? They will perform just as well as an SAZ at 1 ohm and 14.4 volts or less - they will not have 1/2 ohm stability or high voltage stability. Most people don't need that and they add cost even for those who will never use their amps in that manner. Those customers that DO want those things will still look to the SAZ line which will be getting a 2000D model and possibly a 5000D model - most SPL guys want larger than the 1500D anyway

From: 5000-watt Amp Thread
Getting more and more interest. Some people are playing "wait and see" - but if everyone does that it just won't happen. So, put some thought into it... plenty of people wanted them when it was just talk!

Work... what ya do and for who?
Running Sundown Audio Prior to this I did shipping, receiving, and inventory management at a place that sells keys wholesale - car, house, etc.

SAE-1200D Teaser Renderings: Added 5mm cooling fins under the face of the amp, similar to the SAX / SAZ heatsink (10mm for these).

The final specs will look more like this: Re = 3.37 ohms Fs = 34.9 hz Qes = 0.5323 Qms = 6.93 Qts = 0.4943 Vas = 7.6 L BL = 13.3 N/A Mms = 127.7 grams Cms = 162 um/N Sealed Box: 0.280 ft^3 w/ F3 of 50 Hz (Qtc = 0.707) Ported Box: 0.60 ft^3 tuned to 30 Hz F3 of 25 Hz So, what changed? Only one thing - the suspension got tighter. I *hated* the original surround... while it met the Cms goals it was just terrible. It was soft, mushy, and I couldn't stand it. So, I moved to a thicker surround and it literally cut the VAS from 21.2 L to 7.6 L and boosted the Qts from 0.30 to 0.49 total. Granted, this driver WILL break in more and it will lower the Qts and raise the VAS over time. It's pretty stiff so that could take weeks of listening. So, how is the sound? I auditioned it ported and loved it. To be frank, I'll probably run four of these daily, ported, as the first setup in the VW for subs. The extension is sick vented for an 8" driver - don't let the Qts scare you it sounds quite good, even vented, due to the linear motor (very linear for an overhung). For sealed the changes actually yielded MORE low-end response! I played it in the trunk of my Civic (when I still had it) and I felt that it kept up pretty well with the Kicker SS component set in output off the rear channels of an SAX-100.4 - it wasn't staggering, but I enjoyed it. I imagine in a hatch like my new VW and with several of them it will be quite enjoyable even to those who like more bass. For production I used a spider with more excursion potential than the measured proto - and it may also take longer to break in. I was happy with the sound / excursion with the current spider but wanted the end user to get more for their money so I found one with larger rolls and more travel capacity
