SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
I am getting closer to finalized... still tweaking the coil and spider compliance a bit to get it exactly where I want it to be. I am entertaining making one last small run of the SA-8 "classic" to tide everyone over if this will take much longer.

NS-1
They should be ready to ship to us any time now -- I am awaiting final word.

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!
I am REALLY pleased so far... plan to add some mass and do more testing. Tuning looks to be in the high 30s with no added mass, would like to see it in the low 30s

Sundown NeoPro 6.5" Prototypes
We've continued to be pleased with testing -- just working on a launch date.

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!
Just a video of them moving -- not a ton of output sitting in free air like that + I was playing things just to make them move for testing. We threw it in a corner afterwards and it was pretty impressive Can't wait to drop it in my car !

Yep, magic sub juice !

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!
Also took a quick video of the first time powering it up on the test bench... that is uploading. Just a quick one to show the sub and PR moving. I will get more and testing once I drop it in my car.

Yes, you typically want a bigger PR than the woofer.

Got my PSI Passive Radiator -- What For ?!
So I got up with Dave about making me a cool passive radiator... why, you might ask ? Well... first, I don't make passive radiators. Second... Dave does and he does good work. Third... fitting a port in the box for one SA-8 is a chore and very often not practical. So... the solution is a PR of course ! Dave can make these for other applications as well -- check them out at PSI Car Audio. On the the photos : * Adjustable mass for even lower tuning... we expect to be in the mid 30s with stock mass on this PR. The PR really looks great -- Dave's usual high quality work. I'll get pictures and data up once I have time to make the box. This may become an officially suggested product for usage with SA-8s if it works as well as I think it will!

Neo 6.5
There is no way they would be here by Christmas even if we had started production.

New Sundown Project Vehicle
I don't need THAT much power *laughs* Just a tad more.

New Sundown Project Vehicle
Yes it is -- I wanted something that will still get out of it's own way with the system. So only a Diesel would do. I've contacted a few performance companies as well about what I can do to it without harming the ability to reliably move the weight around.

New Sundown Project Vehicle
So... I want to do something for real this time and actually get a vehicle that can handle some weight and still drive around without issues. Concerns about driveability have really hampered my previous plans for something large. I really do NOT like driving huge vehicles either for the most part. I happened across a really interesting vehicle by chance on Craigslist last week and decided to pull the trigger ! 2006 Chevy Express 3500 w/ Duramax Diesel Engine! I test drove it and it was alot more comfortable for me to drive than most huge vehicles and has some real power behind it as well. I am looking at mostly music and mostly impressive demoing but would plan to compete in bass boxing and bass race with it. We are talking to Shok about wiring, planning Excessive Amperage for alternators, XS Power 16v batteries, and of course Sundown subs, amps, and mids. As of this moment I am thinking about 8x 18" woofers in a 4th order... initial box estimates put me at something like 100 cubes or so while leaving room for box thickness, amps, and batteries... so looking @ 3-4 cubes or so each sealed and 8-9 cubes or so each vented (so either 1:2 or 1:3). Other thoughts have crossed my mind like a bunch of SA woofers... but I know plenty of our Team members have done that already. I don't expect this to get done quickly by any means as we are looking into ways to beef up the doors, floor, and ceiling before we even touch the woofers... we'll also likely get the door panels made first as well (these doors look like they can hold a ton of mids easily). * 8 lugs are nice for this kind of weight ! Later on I'll put nice rims on it as well but these will do until the real work is done. * Dash isn't the best for SPL by the looks of it but that isn't the biggest concern for what I want. * Has a ding on this side... but overall a clean van.

broken nightshade ..
Ouch -- first time I've seen that on an NS motor as well.

SA-8 v.1 SOLD OUT at Sundown Warehouse
Yes, v.2 production will start as soon as we are completely finalized on the details. I expected the v.1s to last until then... but demand was stronger than I imagined

Sa12 Recone
I broke a triple joint ring once -- on two SA-8s -- when I put two 4500s strapped at 0.5 on a pair of them. So I'm not sure how one would do so in any normal situation

Custom NS v.2 10s
With the TC-9 you'll have most of the mass coming up closer to the spider as well -- compared to a 40mm top plate with less over-hang.
-
Custom NS v.2 10s
Your coil is pretty light compared to what I'm planning -- an 8-layer flat 71mm WW coil with double wall aluminum former. That is the big difference ALOT more -- which is why I wanted to use them... to get more lateral coil stability. With the heavy coil and very light moving assembly the mass balance is way off on the 10s so I have to make up for it with a bigger spider to surround distance.

Custom NS v.2 10s
Building these for a customer... I wasn't happy with the limits I was facing with the 10" 12-spoke frame so I grabbed some different frames to use for this project ! One picture for now until I get some stuff back from the machine shop... but what is to come : Z v.3 Spider w/ Double Leads and Triple Joint Ring Z v.3 Vented Spacer Ring (from 18" Z v.3) Basket coil cut-out OD expansion at local machine shop Custom made spider riser made at local machine shop Wide-Roll Surround 10" Cone Full Length NS v.2 Coil The customer is planning to use quite a bit of power on these so I wanted to do something a bit special... anyone that knows me knows that I hate making 10s with 3" coils on the 12-spoke and 4-spoke frames!
