Still working on that.

Fun little "SQ" project I'm starting today
So who would honestly buy one or know someone who would ? MAP would be around $600 from an authorized dealer... but in the SQ realm that is not a ton for a reference level SQ 12" woofer. I do plan to Klippel it once I get one built with the thicker coil.

intetnet brand amps.
It's about time someone gets the MASSIVE difference between a dealer based company and a direct company. Thank you. SUNDOWN is not charging more than the "other guys" for amps -- but guess what ? Dealers make money too. I also don't think many people realize how many things we do for customers for after-sales support and warranty... trade-ins, upgrades, so on and so forth. We've done this for YEARS. I've had customers come back that bought a 1500D in 2006 that finally gave out and I'll take it on for credit on a new amp through the "discounted replacement" program. Things like this also give our products MUCH better re-sale value than many other brands. What drives the majority of the industry outside of the forums ? DEALERS. And who are the guys that hold SPL shows ? DEALERS. I'm sure many of you guys enjoy competitions... without the dealer base we wouldn't have them. I won't apologize for supporting the car audio industry... we set out to be a dealer based company and to support the guys that go out there and try to make a living doing what they love and we have stuck to it despite all of the ultra low-cost direct online companies coming up over the years... and we've done nothing but grow over the years despite any of this. And yes -- several of our original models were based on "open boards" -- guess how many of our Class-D amps we have had custom tooled for us now ? All of them. All of our multi-channels have custom tooled crossover sub-boards on them as well. We don't believe in just sticking with the same thing... we believe in constant improvements. If none of this at all matters to you -- that is completely fine with me and you can choose to buy anything you want What I don't appreciate is when people try to claim that WE charge outrageous prices for our stuff... no, we do not... but the fact is as a company that supports dealers and distributors the end cost will end up higher. Period. Compare Sundown to Memphis, JL, etc at a local retailer... and again, if you don't care about that, or extra warranty, or upgrade programs, or better re-sale values, you are MORE than welcome to buy whatever product suits your budget the best and I hope you enjoy whatever you buy -- car audio is a HOBBY and everyone should have fun doing it or re-consider their hobby, IMO. PS: Most of the direct brands do not work with Zenon -- they have moved over to the same build-house as AQ.

SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
Well -- the box with some of the re-cone parts arrived but the subs got separated. SO here are some photos @ the shop of some of the parts  * Progression of the baskets... to the left the original 12-spoke, then the 8-leg, and now the fully tooled Sundown frame! * Wider new spider on the left and older spider on the right (we have round lead spiders in stock for re-cones) * 10mm wider with an entire extra roll on the outside. * Doubled up / large round lead wires. * First step -- bottom spider with no leads. * Second step -- spacer ring in place and center glue joint support ring (there is another behind the rear spider as well) * Then the top spider on top of the spacer ring -- there will be a steel bolt-on ring on top of all of this in production. * Logo in the basket base inside, under the spiders * Visible external logo * New gasket vs. old gasket -- hard to tell but the new one is slightly bigger so we had to tool it anyway so we put the logo in it too.

Looking for an SAZ-1000D ?
Well you will be able to get one again soon. We made a special run of SAZ-1000Ds just for WoofersEtc.com that is due in about two weeks. Many people are looking for mates to their 1000Ds and this will be another, and the final chance to get one! This will likely be a one-time deal for a final run on these amps. I'll get more information up on pricing and whatnot once they actually arrive here at our facility.

Nighshade stock?
We had them in stock again form July to October and they all sold out again. I'm making some minor revisions and then producing more (small stuff... will not make them incompatible with older motors).

Who wants to see some z-series v3's???
We just got them in a little bit ago -- dealers will be adding them online soon. Our guys in Russia have already had them for a while before us

SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
These will go through rigorous testing before approval for production. I am hoping we got it right the first time -- but if I am not 100% satisfied I will make more tweaks before doing full production. Stay tuned !

SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
I have the pre-breakin specs as well -- they need a nice break-in period to get the more settled in specs. The Fs and Qts will drop as usual. Take note especially of how low the Le is now... this will extend the top-end response and reduce inductive distortion significantly from prior models. D2 Specs: D4 Specs:

SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
Pricing is coming out a bit higher than expected due to the amount of aluminum in the frame, the large internal aluminum shorting ring, extra steel in the motor, added labor to assemble, and the doubled leads -- but I didn't want to make any compromises so it is what it is! I wanted to keep it around ~150 MAP but it looks like it will be $185 MAP (same as an SA-10) -- of course we have to keep in mind there is really nothing else like this on the market to compare to price-wise. I have NOT added a penny to the price to cover what I paid in tooling -- I am pricing ONLY on cost to produce per unit so this is the best price I could possibly offer on this driver. I think when we see one of these standing next to an SA-8 v.1 it will pretty much explain itself visually. So -- that being said I will likely produce an SD-2 8" to fill in the large price gap from the E8v.2 ($89) to this guy ($185)... so I'll start development on the SD-2 model soon to come in around the pricing level of the SA-8 v.1 as we know it today so we'll have a full spectrum depending on budget.

Sundown E-10/12/15 PRE-ORDER
Original Discussion Thread I expect to have this in by first of February if not sooner (working on better ETA). Production on the steel parts started first of last month but I am being conservative with the ETA due to the continually increasing delays we have experienced this year on production. Due to popular demand I'll go ahead and open pre-ordering on these models. E-10 D2 / D4 - $89 EACH ($105 regular) E-12 D2 / D4 - $94 EACH ($110 regular) E-15 D2 / D4 - $110 EACH ($130 regular) Shipped in the continental 48 states. Hawaii and AK e-mail for quotes. !!! USA ONLY !!! You can PAYPAL us at [email protected] OR order from your favorite local or online retailer during this pre-order sale. I do expect the first production run to sell very quickly so if your heart is set on these go ahead and get them now. !!! FRAMES WILL BE BLACK ON PRODUCTION !!! ---------- Weights : 10 - 16.4 lbs 12 - 16.9 lbs 15 - 17.8 lbs Mounting Depths : 10 - 5.5" 12 - 6.25" 15 - 7.0" Add 5/16" for production due to the spacer I'm adding. All subs have 12mm one-way linear x-max by 70% BL method. ---------- Thermal test completed @ 60 Hz sine wave : TIME // CLAMPED WATTS At ~400 the heat wasn't building up any faster than it could be dealt with as demonstrated by the minimal drop in power over time once it hit operating temp. So I feel the 400 RMS rating is well deserved -- it could literally handle that "all day" so to speak. Then we hit it with more power after the typical 5 minute test as we normally do... it took over 2 minutes at 500-700 after that to kill it. Conclusion... thermal capacity is a non-issue on this design @ 400 RMS. Little inside view after we cut it up : ---------- Testing 400-watt E-15 prototype in free air. As per my comments in the video we'll have 8mm more rearward clearance on production (16mm p-p) so the driver will support even more throw before any mechanical tapping. ---------- E-10 : D2 Specs D4 Specs ---------- E-12 : D2 Specs D4 Specs ---------- E-15 : D2 Specs D4 Specs

Yes.

SA-8 v.2 Prototype Completed
I don't expect T/S to vary dramatically from the current SA-8 -- the way we have them set up now works much better for bottom-end than a higher sensitivity design (I've tried it). The 1w/1m is sensitivity which does not = efficiency per-se on a subwoofer. We rate them 400 RMS. Ported @ 0.6 cubes Sealed @ 0.3 cubes
