  1. any luck on those pics? I can get really crappy camera phone pics if you like, which item(s)?
  2. A pair of Qs will handle an SAZ-3000D un-clipped on music no problem. Just don't get crazy with sine waves for extended periods of time
  3. Sure will The SAE-1000D is a solid little amp! I've installed a few locally (very rarely I will do an install for some extra cash) for some people and they can't believe that such a small amp is so powerful... I swapped one in for a giant 30" long "SPL" amp for one of my Spanish speaking associates and it totally blew the SPL amp out of the water. He had me put two big Sundown stickers on his car he was so pleased

Is this spam or a user in the wrong section... ?!
  5. Eight 3000Ds... wow... I thought my four was alot in the truck
  6. Awesome Glad to hear it!!!
  7. I have no idea how people blow BTLs... I'll be honest. We had two 1500Ds strapped on one WIDE open... for like 2 hours at the ROE roundup... and it was showing no signs of strain at all. If you run 3kw at a reasonable load (eg: not 0.35 per amp) like 2 ohms... it would take some serious, serious, abuse to hurt it.
  8. I don't want to run against you either *laughs* Your van is loud! I still have work to do before I can start driving it to shows, but it'll be out there as soon as I can get it going!
  9. Actually, every photo that you asked for is on our site http://www.sundownaudio.com
  10. Corey, Unfortunately I do not. It's not an extremely high priority model as it is more of a "niche" product, although, I am hoping to have it out mid next year.
  11. Yes I can't wait to see em' installed.
  12. I consider improperly adjusted equipment "trying" or better "asking" to tear something up The problem with clipping is that you make more power, it's not a separate problem per-se. I can get 2200 watts out of an SAZ-1500D when I crank the gains to full bore and give it as much RCA voltage as I have (clipping hard). If you have two woofers rated at 750 RMS hooked up to it, and they can really only handle 750 RMS, you will blow the crap out of them at full bore clipping on the SAZ-1500D. Whereas, the X12, being rated at 1000 RMS... even a 2,000 watt amp at full bore clipping would have a difficult time damaging it (around 3kw of power full bore clipping if it acts like the 1500D). The coil on the production X12 will be 60mm long and 3" wide... it's pretty darn big. Add in the drilled gap, the vented pole, the ventilation around the coil and under the spider, and of course my extra little cooling feature (you'll just have to wait and see) and it'll be quite difficult to blow the coils even with an amp set up completely wrong. Actually, most people would be very well served running an SAZ-1500D on a pair as they aren't incredibly inefficient and won't require to be "fully powered" to sound good. I can barely imagine a scenario where someone would be able to damage a pair of X12s on a 1500D. Even playing 20 Hz at full bore clipping under tuning in a ported box likely wouldn't do it... the sub has over 40mm of clearances and the suspension can handle enough movement until the BL has dropped substantially to where it can't tear the spiders. I'm trying to make it so that even "stupid" won't be enough to tear one up unless you hook up a ridiculously big amp to a pair
  13. The latest version isn't done yet... but I will have pics when it is.
  14. I could, but I'm trying to stay in the 1200-amp class for nSPL
  15. Chuck, That was the midrange I was looking into. I had not looked into that tweeter... as long as it is loud as hell, which the specs indicate it will be, that'll work fine. Since you have heard alot of PA gear in-car... what are your thoughts on that Selenium unit vs. full blown compression drivers with a horn mouth?
  16. http://www.diymobileaudio.com/forum/showth...9554&page=2 "I hope they are better in quality than the TXA6004 i just installed in my brothers truck. Running 4ch stereo one of the chs hardly has any output to one of the subs, its also poorly sensitive requiring near max gain to get good signal from a 2.7V source. So the arc XXK4150 is going back in, which sounded cleaner and LOUDER at half the rated power, half the gain and can make rated power as low as 2v. One figure double the the power should make a favorable improvement in output at least." --- I haven't heard good stuff about the TXA Cadence amps... likely cheap for a reason. Their older stuff and their higher end lines seem to be pretty good, though.

Pioneer is pretty infamous for this type of problem. It will likely go away when you get the Alpine back in. Likely there is an internal RCA ground issue in the head unit.

What kind of head unit do you have?
  19. I broke my camera... so there will be a delay for pics.
  20. The way the seat is I don't think I can do it... but I think I can set one 10" driver forward towards the dash and get it in there. This is pending measurement I would like to use this for midbass if I can fit it: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cf...tnumber=290-395 It has similar T/S to the old Adire Koda 6... which was a killer car midbass, don't let the way it models out fool you -- it would rock your ear drums for midbass in a car. I'm also looking for something to get close to efficiency matching the PA 6" midrange and horn tweeters
  21. I'm working on banners, actually -- don't have any extras at the moment
  22. What the truck needs now is 10" midbass, 6" PA midrange drivers, and big ol' PA horn drivers under the dash!
  23. I agree... it should totally slam!
  24. I re-installed the CD changer today... did about 3-4 minutes of testing to make sure it didn't skip in the mounting location I picked. Well... my neighbor called the police *laughs* Lets just say I have less than nice things to say about this lady to begin with... By the time he got here I was eating lunch sitting on the couch watching TV and it was dead silent... so, needless to say, he just said what he had to "Well, I guess keep it down. Have a nice day." Then he went about his business and drove off. To put it in perspective... I usually don't test for more than 5 minutes, doors of the vehicle always closed with windows up, and it is always in mid afternoon so I'm not bothering people @ dinner or trying to sleep -- unless they sleep until 1 PM that day of course. Said neighbor has three kids that are members of "rock bands" with their friends... so we'll see about noise complaints. Oh, and the county ordinance on excessive dust when they drive 40 mph down the gravel road. Yah, this should be fun I could go on... but I don't think I'll have this problem again.
