  1. 1) I don't have a solid price estimate yet. Probably something like $549 MSRP on the 12" and $569 on the 15" model. I would have 10" and 18" sizes at a later date. May or may not have an introductory sale, it all depends on supply and demand. 2) At the moment I am looking at making them in Dual 1, at least at first. 3) They are made for SPL but can be listened to daily, they aren't "pure SPL." 4) The goal is to be able to run an SAZ-3000D on one daily... and two for competition purposes. Or 2x 1500Ds and 4x 1500Ds respectively. They are still in development and MANY more things may change about them before they come out, which is why more details aren't available on the forum in general
  2. Hehe, good one... their OEM pricing is a tad high these days. Anyhow... I'm talking with the current factory about why the samples aren't working out like I want. If I can get that figured out I will try another revision with them... if not I will take it somewhere else.
  3. The efficiency really blew me away... I've never hooked up any speaker from any company that moved that far with that little power input... I was shocked. When we did listening tests we had my SAX-100.2 @ 8 ohms and we were able to reach full x-max in the large sealed box we had. Needless to say with 400 watts in a proper sized sealed box you would be golden.
  4. Thread cleaned up again. The listed items above, still for sale.
  5. I received the second revision prototypes today. The design is how I want it to be now... but quality control does not seem to be up to my standards at the factory I have been working with. I will likely be looking to build these elsewhere unless this factory can get their act together and meet my requirements. The way it looks I will probably have to get these made somewhere else and delay them further... but I'll keep you guys up to date!
  6. Im using this box with two 10" SD-1's and it keeps moving around in my trunk. Is there anyway to make the box stay in place? Also, what should I set the subwoofer output to on my headunit? I have it cranked all the way up now and it sounds good but I don't want to screw anything up. You can use metal brackets to screw it down... or sometimes Velcro works too. The SD-1 will likely be fine if you aren't bottoming them out, and you would know as it's pretty loud
  7. Alrighty, I will check it out as soon as it gets here.
  8. We did some sealed listening yesterday... it was excellent. Our sealed box was a bit large so mechanical power handling was low (it was hitting 16mm+ with 250 watts)... it had great low-end extension for a 10" driver and was very clean and tight -- blended well with the fronts. We couldn't judge output so much as my current sub-box was kind of blocking effective entry into the cab as we sat this box in behind it in my trunk. Just finished thermal testing... played @ tuning in my test ported box with 500 watts as measured on my Fluke Clamp meter. I let it rip for 2 full hours @ 500 watts and it's fine. Motor was very very hot at the end of testing and the basket was hot but you could still touch it, unlike the motor which was painful to touch. Did not seem to get any hotter after about an hour and a half... stayed about the same temperature (guessing by feeling it). That is a thermal rating... these things are super efficient and the only way I could keep it away from full x-max @ 500 watts was to play right at tuning in my ported box. You really don't NEED that much power... but quite simply, it would be damn hard to toast the coil on this thing as it would be physically letting you know to turn it down WAY before you could burn up the coil.
  9. If I have not responded to it then not likely.
  10. That's a market that could use some shaking up. Maybe a Mag-loaded one to go after SVS and REL, and a BM one to take on Hsu's offerings... The new BM sounds awesome, by the way, Jim We did some sealed listening yesterday... it was great. I will be thermally testing it today or tomorrow... torture test style. And yah... Nick and I agree. The Mag should destroy most offerings out there today... especially anything reasonably sized. It simply sounds fantastic in a home setup... Nick paired a Mag 15 with his line arrays and that sounded amazing.
  11. Indeed... several extremely unique items are for sale here. The SAX-250.2 prototype is the only one that will be made in the "original" SAX casing. Both sub models are totally unique and there aren't any others like them.
  12. Indeed... I'll have to track down a reputable factory to make home equipment for me. I'd like to use a very similar output stage to my SAX amps as they perform extremely well and people love them. I've got plenty of time, it would be a few years before I could make a line of home amps Now... I'd like to make powered home subs before then in association with SI. Nick and I have been thinking about making powered MAG subs for Home use for years.
  13. There are still plenty of these to go around as of now!
  14. I suggest a quality 200 amp unit with the best idle output you can get.
  15. Sure, you could send a money order: Sundown Audio 151 Rebel Hill Dr. Mooresville, NC 28115 Include a note w/ you name, address, and forum name (in case I have a question) inside along with the MO in case the address is damaged on the envelope.
  16. I would love to I absolutely want to do Home Audio in the future. Nick @ SI has done several home audio projects with his woofers and being that we work together on so many things this will very likely happen down the line. This certainly is not near-term... but eventually is something that I'll try to move into.
  17. Two woofer prototypes added... the only ones of their kind ever made and ever to be made as they will never reach final production. Since they are completely unique and I cannot replace them I am unable to offer warranty past that they will work when you get them. SAX-250.2 Prototype has been SOLD. E12 Prototype has been sold to Big E.
  18. Looking good Rich!
  19. The un-named proto has been sold. More items coming soon.
  20. As of now Sundown doesn't do *any* full sponsorships. We have a Team program whereby qualified individuals can get discounts if they are allowed to join. The Team generally requires a good bit of experience or, at the least, some pretty darn impressive plans and goals.
  21. http://www.sundownaudio.com/SD-1_blowout.html I added "Buy" buttons to the SD-1 blowout page for the SI BM 12" blowout sale
  22. http://www.sundownaudio.com/SD-1_blowout.html You can go here to buy it now through Paypal on the close-out sale Scroll down, added it to my SD-1 blowout page.
  23. Staying where it is, although I am updating the crossover ranges on the next run on the 100.2 and 100.4 to allow more flexibility. Eventually the 100.4 will get 24 dB slopes (that will be a while). Why did you choose the 12db slopes for these amps? Due to the way the crossover sub-boards are made that is how it had to be. I am investing in developing new sub-boards that will allow for 24 dB slopes on the 100.4 in the future. FYI, the 100.2 has 18 dB slopes and all the Class-D amps have 24 dB slopes.
