  1. It really doesn't matter if they are common chamber or separated. Volume from 2.5 - 3 ft^3 is perfect, use 4 - 5 pounds of polyfill total in there as well (craft section at wal-mart).
  2. Indeed, 2 ohms is an extremely easy load for the amp. 4 gauge wire is a tad small, but still shouldn't cause a problem unless you were clipping the amplifier badly. I'll put it this way... nobody has ever damaged one at 2 ohm in the past. I'm not sure what you mean about the connector being "somewhat loose" -- do you mean you can easily move it around? Or just that if you try you can rotate it a bit? If it is the latter that isn't a big deal. Where is it mounted? To the sub box? That can cause issues if so. What kind of fuse do you have? And what size? Check the remote lead voltage? Is that okay? One thing to check... which I have seen once before -- take off the bottom panel and see if it runs fine. If it does, put some duct tape on the bottom panel above the transformers. The other time I saw something like this the transformers were barely touching the bottom plate and would act like you are describing. PS: Who did you get the amplifier from?
  3. The 10" models really do excel in very small enclosures Pop them into WinISD or your favorite box program and design away!
  4. I'll brain-storm on it a bit... but that is an excellent idea, especially with the crazy integration you see today with the OEM radios!
  5. Hey now, I started wanting some last week, now its too good to pass up. Will send mail about shipping to Canada. Indeed, they are very good for those of us who aren't massive bass heads and/or have limited space/depth or even who have limited electrical setups and don't want to run gobs of power. Nice little speakers all in all Unfortunatly, the market wants big boy speakers... hence the close-out sale.
  6. ATTN: Joshua Bayer Your order was received but the address is incomplete. I sent you an e-mail requesting a correction. Posting here too in case you don't check that address on a regular basis. I'll have to ship Monday as I am about to do my UPS shipping for today in less than 5 minutes.
  7. Still plenty left Remember, each SD-1 purchased enters your in a drawing to win an SAX-100.2 for free!
  8. I beat the ever living hell out of my current revision Mags almost every single day testing amps. Watch: http://www.sundownaudio.com/misc/Two_Mags_1500D.AVI They start to smell funny when I test 5 or 6 SAZ-3000Ds in a row on them @ 1/2 ohm
  9. Indeed, it totally slipped my mind that the TL box is a proprietary design. Sorry about that! The displacement is pretty much negligible... around 0.1 ft^3 or so. You can pretty much ignore it Be sure to add a good 2 - 3 pounds of poly fill to the enclosure when running the 12" models sealed.
  10. If you are looking for louder you should look at something bigger than these -- while they sound great, raw output isn't tremendous... it's not bad, and is very impressive for 200 watts per sub, but it won't compete with the big boys on output.
  11. I am going to e-mail Rich and see if he can send me plans for the TL box for the 12s... they really shine in that box. They also do very well Infinite Baffle =) They will work fine in traditional sealed and ported alignments, but the 12" models really shine in a hybrid-TL or IB due to the moderately high Qts. I suggest 1.25 - 1.5 ft^3 sealed with heavy polyfill stuffing, around 2 - 3 pounds or so. I suggest 2.00 - 2.25 ft^3 ported tuned to 30 Hz or so, they will get extremely low in this alignment. What would be a *great* solution since you have four... would be to make a dual clamshell, low-tuned, ported home theater sub. You could use around 2 cubes total volume since the clamshell alignment cuts box size in half That would be pretty nasty in-home for movies tuned to about 25 hz or so. ---------- That is four entries to win the SAX-100.2 for you as well I am writing them all down and will have a computer generate a random number to draw the winner the first of next month!
  12. We tore it up good
  13. Two 12s vs. one... the pair of SD-1s should really have no problem having more output since it is 2 vs. 1 subs with around the same power. I suggest a very low tune around 30 Hz or so in a moderate size box (around 2.0 ft^3 or so each). Four of the 10" SD-1s would work quite well on 600 watts. I can't guarantee that four SD-1 10s will be louder, but it would sound good Are you running @ 1 ohm on the Alpines now? If you are it is likely that the Alpine setup would be louder as the two 12" subs actually have about 75% as much cone area as four 10s, the the Type-Rs have a good bit more excursion capability. Good news then, the 10" SD-1 has a 0.707 Qtc in 3/4 ft^3 and will work well in smaller stuffed with poly-fill, it is also only 5" deep.
  14. Got it I've had a few orders already today... those will go out tomorrow for sure.
  15. Sure... lets say $128.75 for one 10" and one 12" -- you can directly Paypal me at the e-mail address in the original post if you like.
  16. Monoblock describes how many channels the amp has, that being one. A Monoblock can be any class. Class-D is an amplifier topology describing how the amplifier works. A Class-D amp can have any number of channels but they are usually monoblock as the Class-D design is best suited for subwoofer duty. Some new technologies take Class-D full range... but in general, Class-D is used for woofers.
  17. They do very well SQ wise, a few Nissan Titan guys have them sealed in truck boxes: One customer: "I previously was a Diamond Audio freak and thought that their speakers were good. I prefer the sound from the SD-1s than i do my Moms (my old) CM312d4s granted the diamonds are 12s and the sundown at 10s but no matter what i have thrown at them they take it with no problem, from korn, jay z, nelly, journey, door, rolling stones, to 50s music. they are just CLEAN CLEAN AND MORE CLEAN" Output is good, about as much as you can expect sealed with 200 watts per sub Of course it won't compare to huge subs with 20+ mm of excursion sealed.
  18. If you can get the TL box specs from Rich I think you will be very surprised with what those 12" SD-1s will do. "stratusrt01" = Rich , one of my sales reps for NC. He picked up a pair of the 12s after he heard my 10s
  19. Based on what I know about the Mach5 driver... it would beat the SD-1 in SPL without much problem but will likely take more power to do so. The SD-1 should be ahead at lower power levels as it is a more efficient driver. SQ would be another story, as that is what the SD-1 is made for, it excels there.
  20. *laughs* Those aren't going anywhere anytime soon, sorry.
  21. One more note... all dealers are authorized to match this blowout price. If you wan an SAX-100.2 *and* a pair of SD-1 woofers... contact SSA or any other authorized dealer about a package deal
  22. The 12" models work very well in a transmission line type box... PM "stratusrt01" about a box for them, he has the perfect, compact TL style box for these 12s
  23. These are 200-watt RMS subs, so two is perfect on an SAX-100.2 bridged. That is what I have in my car... 2x 10" SD-1s ported on an SAX-100.2 bridged at 4 ohms These aren't SPL subs, but you won't have a louder setup with 400 watts. They also sound *great* -- which was their main purpose, lower powered SQ subs. They excel at blending very well with the front stage, and can throw down a bit if necessary. They won't compete with 1000+ watts each on huge 50 pound woofers, but I find that they meet my daily needs well.
  24. The market seems to be apprehensive about adopting a small and efficient SQ speaker, seems that most consumers are interested in putting huge power into woofers these days So... the SD-1 model is being closed out and discontinued due to sluggish sales. They will still carry full warranty as I will hold onto some of them for warranty replacements: http://www.sundownaudio.com/ppsd10.html -- 10" Model Information http://www.sundownaudio.com/ppsd12.html -- 12" Model Information These subs actually perform very well but have really been slow sellers... see some first hand reviews here: http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9883 http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=9264 ---- Pricing is as follows: Shipped Prices are to Continental 48 states 1x 10" SD-1 will be $65.00 shipped 2x 10" SD-1s will be $120.00 shipped ($60 each) 4x 10" SD-1s will be $225.00 shipped ($56.25 each) 1x 12" SD-1 will be $75.00 shipped 2x 12" SD-1 will be $137.50 shipped ($68.75 each) 4x 12" SD-1 will be $250.00 shipped ($62.50 each) Ask about higher quantities... also ask about shipping rates outside of the continental 48 states.
