  1. They are being designed for use with 4 x SAZ-1500Ds or 2x SAZ-3000Ds for SPL competition. Daily usage they will work great with 2x SAZ-1500D or an SAZ-3000D per woofer. PS: May see a new heatsink design for the "Z" series starting with the production release of the SAZ-3000D. I am trying to find a way to further increase thermal dissipation and maintain the classy look we all know.
  2. Pretty much the same as the SAZ-1500D except 3000 x 1 @ 1 ohm rating. I'll post real numbers as soon as I can get together with Loyd and the boys for testing. As far as size, the heatsink itself is 23 5/8" long, add a little bit for the terminals. So it's a beast but really not a huge amount physically larger than the SAZ-1500D when you consider the power output.
  3. That'd be great... I'd love to trade up my pair of 1500d's for one, and pick up another... Will this be possible? EDIT: I just saw those internals, that thing is siiick! Trading up won't be a generally available option for the public. You could re-sell what you have and pick one up when they are released
  4. The 1000D is being produced for production release. Should be up for sale before too much longer. I've been told that before. It's something I'll look into later on.
  5. * Top Left : SAE-75.2 * Top Right : SAE-50.4 * Bottom: SAZ-3000D * Same as above Just in a few minutes ago...
  6. The easy way to find that out is to e-mail a dealer and get a quote: http://www.sundownaudio.com/dealers_reps.htm
  7. I drove out to the show in SC to check on some wiring for a few customers as they were having problems making the amps work right strapped. They had the "-" terminals on each amp connected together on itself... not jumped between amps. On the phone I was asking, "So, the negatives are hooked together?" and what they did sounds the same in words... so of course I was pretty baffled on the phone until I saw it in person and realized what had happened. So... I re-wired them and no problems since! Initially they also were using RCA cables that weren't making a good connection (Memphis and Stinger) so that was the second part of the problem.
  8. I got it. I've been sick this week with the flu so response time is delayed.

Is he the one calling me "sweety" and "hun"? *laughs* Nah, that is Nicole, his fiance.

Kluv Kustoms is owned and operated by my brother and his fiance. A few guys on the forums have done business with them and have all been satisfied with their experience.
  11. I like the use 3/4" cabinet grade birch if the project doesn't have a really tight budget. Saves ALOT of weight.
  12. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7406 It is a sticky post up top... updated today with pictures on how to strap the amps. I've had several problems lately with customers who has not hooked up the amps correctly when strapped due to confusion as to what the manual is saying. Hopefully these photos will answer your questions.
  13. With a proper setup it is unlikely you will have any problems running them strapped at 1 ohm. Quite a few people do so. You are correct that you will need dual 1 ohm subs to reach a 1 ohm final load for strapping them. Yes, if the strapped load is 1 ohm each amp "sees" 0.5 ohms. Be careful with the gain setting as you will have enough amp on tap to do damage to the coils if you clip them. You will also run into thermal protection if your gain is set too high. If setup properly your pair of BLs will have no problem handling the full, unclipped, output of a pair of 1500Ds. Your electrical system upgrades should be okay for this application with two of those Kinetik 2400s in the back. Just make sure all connections are nice and tight and wired correctly -- I know it sounds obvious, but quite a few tech calls have been tracked down to simple wiring issues, ESPECIALLY when strapped. Also make sure to have good air flow around the amps for a 0.5 ohm load.
  14. 600 watts will be around a 0.6 dB difference in an ideal situation in this case. With power compression figured in then you might see 0.3 dB difference between 2 ohm strapped and 1 ohm strapped. You can strap them at 1 ohm if you want... plenty of people do. But like I said, the gain is minimal and you won't notice much difference other than increased electrical draw unless this is for competition and those few tenths will matter -- you most certainly won't be able to tell with your ears.
  15. (in laymans terms) If I wanted to run the Sundowns then I would have to run dual 1ohm subs and series them to get a final 0.7ohm load between the 2 subs which in otherwords would be a 0.35ohm with rise Im sure that will move to 0.5ohm load per amp I would suggest using dual 2 ohm woofers in series/parallel to strap them at 2 ohms, meaning 1 ohm per amplifier (0.7 DCR). Since you read the testing you will see that the difference between a 1 ohm strapped pair and 2 ohm strapped pair is only 600 watts... which is NOT worth the 4% decrease in efficiency and increased wear and tear on the amplifiers for anything but competition purposes.
  16. Like I said, be sure to measure actual impedance to be sure. I've had guys burping them really low "nominal" for comps but they have all measured actual impedance before trying it.
  17. Make sure to measure your actual impedance at burp frequency. If you strap at 0.5 ohms that is 0.25 per amplifier and is in no way covered under warranty. So if you get careless and smoke them at a comp you will have to pay for repairs. To answer the question... you will be looking at around 340 amps draw @ 2 ohms strapped, and around 530 amps strapped a 0.5 ohms -- these figures are at 12.8 volts based on Loyd's testing.
  18. It was 0.35 nominal, or 0.175 per amp. I don't recommend doing that
  19. Strapping them on a 0.5 ohm nominal load means 0.25 nominal per amplifier, which is a big no go. In your case that would be a DCR of 0.1875 per amplifier. You could do a series / parallel configuration and strap them at 2 ohms nominal -- 1.5 ohm DCR in your case. Giving you 1 ohm nominal per amp, 0.75 ohms DCR.
  20. Thanks for the feedback guys Glad that you like them!
  21. We've talked several times, perhaps you'd recognize my e-mail, [email protected] Got it. Not having real names on the forums gets me. Did you set the gains like our last e-mail? Based on this latest bit of information I would try a different RCA cable too if I were you if you are still having an issue.
  22. SAE-1000D will have an MSRP of $399 and will be available on pre-order soon. I am just waiting to get a more accurate date for their release before starting a pre-order of any kind. The pre-order price will be a good deal... exact figure will be posted when it starts.
  23. Not quite ridiculously underrated. The SAX-100.2 does around 125 per channel and the SAX-100.4 around 115 per channel.
  24. People have also strapped them wrong in at least two cases now... can you describe your problem? Or have we already spoken about it? Sometimes I lose track
