Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
It is cheaper to tool the 8" parts than larger parts. As for the market -- it's there. The SA-8 has sold *extremely* well -- beyond any of my expectations.

Yes, alot bigger.

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
After some long hours... the final driver design is completed: One cosmetic element that is experimental... vertical logo on magnet boot. Should we do that or the horizontal logos like we are doing now ? This is a HUGE motor... it is larger than the SA-10/12/15 motor. No joke

Sundown E8 v.2 Pre-Order
Cuts off shortly before they arrive.

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
All drawings and designs must be completed, then tooling must be made, then a sample... Earliest 60 days for a sample from here.

Yah I was Had to look over drawings of the new eight, of course!

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
Yes and yes... the frame, cone, surround, spider, triple joint ring, and dust cap are all new toolings for this driver.

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
We are finalizing some drawings right now... may even beef up the motor even more than we have been thinking about prior -- why not go crazy, huh ? More information to come soon -- hold onto your seats !

Sundown Pre-Orders : SAX-200.4 / SAZ-1500D v.2 / SAZ-4500D / SAZ-3500D
Because it has alot of parts in it... It's a ~2000-watt total RMS power Class A/B amp -- naturally it's enormous. Ok maybe Im trying to compare apples to grapes here but The leviathan is 150rms x 6 channels. 200.4 is 50watts more, but 2 channels less. I dont understand the HUGE size difference. The Leviathan is Class-D So yes, big time apples to grapes.

You guys know I can't just work on one...
I liked my other neo motor design better -- so this one is just kinda hanging out as a prototype on the shelf.

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
We went all out This surround is *linear* for 35mm one-way -- so had to be pretty large. The max capacity of both the spider and surround are actually beyond 35mm but they remain linear up until that point.

You shouldn't need more than the 4 ohm stereo power.
-
Sundown E8 v.2 Pre-Order
I would run them in stereo on just two channels -- they wont need alot of power IB.

Haha - okay Lots of things have changed since 2007 -- we are much more capable of bringing new products out faster than back then.

Too early to say on either.

saz 4500 or 2xsaz2500
I would consider 2x 2500Ds wired to 0.25 each for SPL burp -- roll into volume -- you can strap them at 0.5 to achieve this load.

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
I made a new thread specifically for the X-8 platform as the other thread was mainly for the frame and also discussed the NEO-8 (the NEO-8 platform will be worked on further once the X-8 is done and in production).

Sundown X-8 Work in Progress
Developing a 600-watt RMS 8" woofer with fully custom frame, cone, surround, spider, etc... Frame supports ~35mm one-way linear travel and the soft parts support that as well. Design is motor limited to 19mm linear one-way and 30mm before leaving the gap -- so it will be VERY difficult to reach mechanical limitations even by accident on SPL burps. The soft parts, frame, and so forth are VERY over-engineered to support any future motor designs I may desire to produce... meaning you may see a true high linear stroke "SQ" style design with these parts later on -- but first we are staying true to Sundown heritage and designing a super rugged "daily" woofer that will produce excellent SPL numbers as well. The frame by itself : The frame with cone, dust cap, and surround : The frame with cone, dust cap, surround, AND spider : Surround will be stitched to cone for further resistance to damage in extreme applications. Yes -- we will be eventually making this style driver in bigger sizes... the 8" is coming first as I really felt the NEED for better platforms as I've been severely limited with existing frames in this size.

Are you limited to only one battery ?

experiences with db-r?
99% of customers that buy refurbished amps from dB-R are very satisfied -- we wouldn't deal with them for this long if they weren't the best !
