We are still working on the new 50.4 -- it won't make it by years end... but hopefully not much longer afterward.
  2. I wouldn't say that -- they simply have a very different design philosophy from most if not all of the vendors here on SSA. The suspensions on both the SDC and HDC are SUPER stiff.
  3. This may be off topic, but could an SA-15 still hit decent lows in a box 2.8^3 tuned at 36Hz? I see you recomend tuning at 35Hz was just curious how low it got tuned that high. Alot of people claim that the AQ subs can still get low at that tuning but I have yet to hear it personally, they always sound kinda hollow. That box would work fine for an SA-15. Honestly... the AQ / DD design philosophy isn't targeted at super low bass. Extension to 40 Hz should be no issue but expect output to diminish under -- not to say they won't reproduce low bass but a softer driver will do it better.
  4. I have an AQ SDC here at the shop and it looks like a well built sub -- but the suspension is ULTRA stiff and results in a high FS. In fact... it was similar to our Z v.2 even after some initial break-in. Makes it a good driver to have "higher bass" output -- verified by testing -- but on the really low notes it trailed off. Design philosophy is alot like the HDC3 -- which is almost 2.5x stiffer than an NS v.2 with similar break in times.
  5. These are on pre-order now ! http://www.caraudioclassifieds.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52681 SAX-200.4 (NEW ITEM) Regular - $775 Pre-Order - $575 Early Pre-Order by Sept 30th - $525
  6. SSA has updated their store.
  7. Thanks Todd We will be working hard to expand our "lower" lines with high quality products for our local dealer base.
  8. The original SAZ-1500D v.1 is still in stock for now -- but is not going on sale. Anyone that needs to get more of the v.1 models to match what they currently have has this time to do so -- once these are gone we will only stock the v.2 version.
  9. We just finished out our 4th year in business here at Sundown -- we began selling the SAZ-1500D and SAX-100.2 back in August of 2006! Thanks to all of our customers for taking us this far and we look forward to the next four years! I am pleased to announce several sale items as well as several pre-orders opening up. To order any of the below items please PAYPAL us at [email protected] along with an order list (be specific) -- be SURE to have your address on the payment! You can also order from your favorite local or online dealer -- all dealers have the option to provide these sale and pre-order prices as well. This sale is for the USA ONLY!!! Prices below are shipped in the continental 48 states -- contact us for shipping quotes to AK and HI. ----- SALE ITEMS UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30th: SAX-125.2 Regular - $240 Sale - $200 SAX-100.4 Regular - $365 Sale - $320 SAX-1200D Regular - $375 Sale - $300 SAZ-3500D Regular - $1075 Sale - $865 ----- The below pre-order items are due in December... could be anywhere from early to late December. This is the ETA -- as with all pre-sales the possibility exists for delays and there will not be ANY refunds. So please do not pre-order unless you are prepared for the wait period. This pre-order will run until the end of November unless the amps arrive early -- in which case it ends when they arrive. We also have special EARLY pre-order prices for orders placed by the end of September! You can get even greater savings by getting in early! PRE-ORDER ITEMS: SAZ-4500D 3rd Run Regular - $1549 Pre-Order - $1200 Early Pre-Order by Sept 30th - $1100 SAZ-2500D 2nd Run Regular - $775 Pre-Order - $575 Early Pre-Order by Sept 30th - $525 SAX-200.4 (NEW ITEM) Regular - $775 Pre-Order - $575 Early Pre-Order by Sept 30th - $525 SAZ-1500D v.2 (NEW ITEM) Regular - $500 Pre-Order - $425 Early Pre-Order by Sept 30th - $400 ---------- Forum searches will bring up numerous tests on the 4500D and 2500D posted by us and customers. Information on the new SAZ-1500D v.2 can be seen here: SAZ-1500D v.2 Photos - Car Audio Classifieds More SAZ-1500D v.2 testing will be posted when we get another new sample unit in stock. Information on the new SAX-200.4 can be seen here: SAX-200.4 Prototypes In - Car Audio Classifieds ---------- Any further questions feel free to ask. I do expect the SAX-200.4 especially to be a hot item... if you want to get in on the first production run I suggest getting in on the early pre-order pricing. A good portion of these are going to our foreign distributors so this leaves a smaller than normal amount for the USA on the first run!
  10. I haven't started testing tweeters yet.
  11. ETA is not available just yet... but we have been tinkering with them for a while.
  12. Sundown Pro Mids | Facebook Up on the Sundown Facebook... includes details on estimated pricing.
  13. I'm not expecting as much difference at really low loads or really high voltages -- we are working on the most improvements at 1 ohm on a 12v system for the majority of customers. Should still be a gain but not quite the ~13% we saw here. Plus the smaller size is a plus
  14. Got a bit of 1 ohm testing done -- when we modified it I think something happened to it so we won't have any 0.5 testing yet until I get another sample in. Old 1500D produced 1540 watts after rise -- new 1500D produced 1750 watts after rise. Simply a max measurement. The results are just what I was looking for so far -- more power for the regular customer who runs at 1 ohm
  15. Smaller would be better with the type of motor force we are looking at here.
  16. I have not yet had time to really catch up... so again, I apologize, I have a LOT of things going on with Sundown right now and I answer 99% of all emails personally so it's been a bit difficult. Thanks for your patience and sorry for any inconvenience.
  17. They can work in compact boxes, absolutely.
  18. I just got the updated power supply transformers in -- as with many of our other new models we are trying to get the most at the 1 ohm load customers typically use rather than requiring them to drop amps down super low. Hopefully we can get them in and tested soon -- the build house expects a big different at 1 ohm with these transformers.
  19. Expect to see SAX-200.4 and SAZ-1500D v.2 pre-orders opening really soon.
  20. Not sure at this time... even to generate a comparable amount of motor force to, say, an SA-12 would still raise the price alot. I'm not sure people are willing to pay just to reduce weight.
  21. 1) Yes. 2) That would require Full-Range Class-D to get the size down and have that much power. The original 100.4 was pretty large too. It's something we are looking into.
  22. A new box design would be require to change the impedance rise. I may consider different coil configurations later on... I already stock a bunch of different coils between the NS v.1, v.2 and Z v.2 coils all being different. I am working on consolidating coil models a bit so they are a bit more interchangeable then I can worry about different configurations.
  23. It's actually smaller than an SA-12 motor :
  24. I have had many customers already on my personal page -- and most will be taken off. No offense to anyone as I appreciate all of my customers but the new Sundown page is the new place to go as a customer Only people I actually know will be on my personal page. Thanks for the understanding!
