I'll be holding onto this one I've had it for almost 10 years... it's a bit of a Frankenstein inside from being repaired / modded of the years -- which is why all the others blew and it didn't *laughs*

We don't test that kind of power on the bench - as was mentioned I'd do that in my vehicle. We also have a battery bank to back up short period high power testing.

All newer SA-8s also feature the bolted down spider.

My Dad came in and installed the 240v panel for us (he was an electrician for 20+ years) -- each supply has it's own breaker. Brandon did all of the wiring on the board for the supplies themselves. Quite a bit of work in the whole deal but will make testing alot easier

Runs on 240v AC -- supplying 260 amps continuous current set to 14.8v Hooked up to some Stinger SPV-70s... need to get one more in there. Should do quite well... this replaces our prior setup of three Pyramid 40-amp units (only one recently as we blew up the other two). We went through those on a regular basis... this should be more reliable and much more power than we had before.

Poor cosmetic quality used amps would likely be repaired under warranty rather than replaced -- it would go to dB-R for the repair as they handle all of our work.

The NS v.2 is 2000-watts RMS.

Hmmm... good question I shipped the prototype to Russia so I'll have to mock up a basket on a motor when I get a chance and measure it all.

I don't see much reason to tune under 35 Hz in vehicle due to transfer function -- but you could tune them down to 20 Hz if you really wanted.

Initial un-broken in specs on the SPL D2 coil indicate about 25% higher BL^2/RE -- the glue isn't dry so I can't measure it broken in yet... will do so tomorrow and confirm that it is that much higher.

I am a little busy with the items mentioned in this post -- but later I will work on other things.

I'll have pre-ordering for SA-15 and E8 v.2 opening up shortly for those waiting. Ironing out all the final details on production.

Bit more on the SPL coil for NS v.2... here is a comparison of spec : Dual-1 "standard" Coil : WW = 71 mm ID = 76.3 mm OD = 83.8 mm DCR = 0.95 per side Inner Gap = 1.15 mm Outer Gap = 1.35 mm Dual-1 "SPL" Coil : WW = 57 mm ID = 75.5 mm OD = 84.5 mm DCR = 0.8 per side Inner Gap = 0.75 mm Outer Gap = 1.0 mm So we have 0.75 mm more coil thickness in the gap and a lower DCR for SPL burp purposes. I'll do spec comparisons once they arrive... sample D1 versions shipped today so I should have them soon.

Almost forgot... E8 v.2 will be available around year end too : E8 v.2 Prototype - Car Audio Classifieds And yes... that means E8 v.1 can be re-built again as I will have parts.

Few other things that haven't been directly talked about... just mentioned in passing : 1) Z v.2 woofers have been revised as time has progressed. * Coils are now 4-layer round quad-wound biflair copper coils... more robust than the original aluminum, the copper has a lower expansion ratio which helps in the tight gap, more BL^2/RE (motor force), lower FS, etc. * My testing shows no loss in SPL at lower power and a 0.3 gain above 6kw burps. * Top shorting ring was removed -- but internal ring was upgraded to copper. * WoofersEtc has ordered some of every size and coil configuration so I'll be posting new T/S specs for every size soon. 2) Nightshade v.2 SPL coils will be available soon... not suggested for daily as they tighten the gap but I expect higher motor force from these and the DCR is lower... also slightly shorter WW for lowered mass. Testing to come when they arrive.

Correct. Without resorting to gigantic sized magnets you can get a VERY powerful motor with Neo.

Check the ground - if that is good and the amp is not shutting off it's fine. Those do run warm / hot - especially when it's hot outside.

The "back plate" part is 25mm thick -- and is needed for the amount of flux intended for the design. 35mm of the plate is cut out for clearance which leaves a good bit of room so I can use a range of coil lengths. With a 50mm long coil I have 37.5mm of clearance remaining, for example. I didn't want to have a multi-piece assembly so I had it all milled out from a solid chunk of steel... back plate and pole are all one piece.

Going to do some more work on this as it is then have another one made with more magnet slugs on it.
