  1. I think you may be seeing things *laughs* I see the Monster with a recone sitting upside down on it, though
  2. I have never seen one with both lights on. I would look over the ground connection as a start, though.
  3. Most people run them ported but they are designed also to work great sealed. Linear x-max is ~19mm one way.
  4. It would handle around a 1500 watt RMS amplifier with the Nightshade coil in it.
  5. They are currently sold out,.
  6. Eventually. I need to modify the motor a bit for 10s and 12s... it's on my to-do list.
  7. These are 4.5" deep
  8. If you have a tiny factory alternator I'd get at least a 150 amp unit and one extra battery.
  9. Does it adversely effect sound quality in any way? Not, it is just gluing the spider landing down better -- it does not interfere with any of the moving rolls of the spider.
  10. So... who is interested in these guys ?
  11. I manipulated the winding width a little so the D4 actually ended up with slightly higher motor force than the D2 -- good stuff
  12. It can be done on any woofer with a lip on the basket around the spider landing -- handy trick if your applications puts alot of stress on the spider landing.
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCScPpf01k0 Decided to make a video since so many people want to use these in SPL burp applications and high power (50%+ over rated power) and large enclosure (25-100% larger than suggested) applications. For these applications you will want to run a bead of epoxy around the spider as shown in the video. Has worked great for me... have done around 100 burps at over 1kw per driver in my CRX this way... hitting 153 dB. The next run and forward will simply feature a bolted down spider to handle all applications right off the bat. *** THIS IS FOR THE FIRST RUN ONLY -- ALL OTHER RUNS HAVE THE SPIDER BOLTED DOWN ***
  14. 3/4 gain on 5v pre-out = WAY too high.
  15. The frame has a non-standard landing so it was adapted with a steel ring: --- * Center support ring going into place. This locks into place around the extended neck joint on the Z v.2 spiders and is also glued into place at bottom and through it's entire height. * There is a little trough here for glue in the ring... the cone sets down into this area as well and bonds nicely. * Special rubberized surround glue. * Glue trough filled in on the ring - ready for cone to go on. * Spider press doubles as a cone press on the inside of this rig (minus the motor) to make sure the cone stays pressed into the glue trough in the ring while curing. Also used another TSS 15" to press down the trim ring to make sure the surround glue dries nicely.
  16. I occasionally build custom drivers on non-Sundown platforms by request -- few pictures to share These use the Z v.2 light weight 15" cone, Z v.2 production voice coils, Z v.2 production "2 spider" pack, an additional re-enforcement ring at the triple joint, stock T3 TSS frame and motor. With this cone the factory trim ring can also be used unlike the last TSS I built with the wide roll surround. * Top triple joint * Factory trim ring in place * Triple joint ring between cone and spiders. This cone is a bit shallower so there is room between the cone and spider. * The second one being built... this is my spider press rig to make sure the spiders stick well to one another and to the landing. Maybe a little overkill... but I hate to see spiders come off or apart. ----- I'll get a few more pictures before the second one is done too... will also get some specs as the customer requested them. I can actually build a couple more of these too... have a few more TSS 15" frames.
  17. You may need to back the gain down - the 3500D gain is more sensitive than the other SAZ models and requites a bit less gain for the same output. It will protect with too much input signal for a given gain setting.
  18. Pre-Sale is OVER -- stay tuned to this thread for updates on arrival. Expected some time soon. More are available for sale @ the regular price this time.
  19. A couple hundred... but they won't last long. I have a few 100 more being built now as well that should hopefully align with these running out.
  20. I'll keep the forums updated on the status of the SA-12s and 10s. They are in transit. Just depends on how fast the boat and customs is with them.
  21. Bought it on caraudio.com
  22. Do not assume impedance rise in a daily system... see technical section : Why "daily" systems should not count on impedance rise - SSA Car Audio Forum
  23. I would use more like 140 to 168 in^2 in that size box.
  24. The motor and coil are identical to the 12s -- so BL is about the same. The 12s were very well received for daily and "SQ" type setups... 10s will be the same.
  25. Did a quick power clamp. 4240 clamped watts = 152.8 dB 1300 clamped watts = 148.7 dB
