  1. I had that type before. My problem was the ring terminal connection keep coming loose over time. Even adding locktite to the nut and a lock washer. Maybe they have improved over time or I just bought some crappy ones. That type also has 2 failure points. The ring terminal connection to the wire, and the terminal to the fuse. Although I can't recall a time I've had a ring terminal come apart. Another part of my problem with the "shove in the hole and screw it down" method is getting all the wire in the hole. It always seems that the cable is bigger than the hole and has stray strands that want to poke out. It's like a fat girl trying to fit in her little sister's shirt. I just haven't seen these compression fittings for wire and it looked to be a more solid connection and solved several problems. Perhaps I'm just over thinking things.
  2. Thanks for the input so far. I guess I should be more specific on my application. Not looking for battery terminals, this is simply for the inline fuse holders. Everything else I have is ring terminals.
  3. I'm getting ready to do another electrical upgrade and have been poking around a bit. Thought I'd try out Knukonceptz's gear this go around. I saw some of their lines use compression fittings and really like the design. I've never been that big of a fan of smashing a wire in with a screw but it does work. Any experience with these fittings? Often something that looks cool doesn't always play out well in the real world. I've used compression fittings adapting hardline to braided hose and sometimes it can be a pita. Although this is a little different, wasn't sure if they were worth the effort and how secure the connection is. Thanks! http://www.knukoncep...mages/Komp1.jpg http://www.knukoncep...mages/Komp2.jpg
  4. Ok I came up with a couple designs. See what you think about these. #1 height: 24 width: 36 depth: 25 port: 3 common wall 22.5 x 5.5 length: 23 35.1 hz tuning 123.75 in^2 port area 7.74 ft^3 net #2 height: 24 width: 34 depth: 23 port: 3 common wall 22.5 x 5 length: 29 35.1hz tuning 112.5 in^2 port area 6.1 ft^3 net Net volume does not include bracing. Not sure what you wanted to use to brace. I usually use 1"-1.5" dowel rods. It will consume a bit of the net volume but unless you go crazy it will not have a significant effect. Keep in mind I am not a professional designer. I do this for fun and for free. If you wanted to pay someone to make a design for you they may come up with something better. If you are chasing numbers there is probably a different design that would yield better scores. That being said I have designed and built several boxes. Some were full of fail, some were pretty badass. This game is all trial and error and every application and expectations are a little different. Hope this helps
  5. Turned out great! Sucks about the moofer. Were you able to fix it?
  6. I searched around a bit and could hardly find any specs at all. Much less T/S parameters. But I can tell you tuning to 28hz is probably a terrible idea. If it is temporary honestly I'd probably put it in around a 1-1.25 ft^3 net sealed and be done.
  7. Sorry man. I've been real busy and had an emergency call in at a plant. I should have time tomorrow to see what I can come up with.
  8. So I'm still a little confused. Are the batts you added inside the airspace of the wall or no? I thought that was isolated and shrunk down the enclosure size. If it is isolated I don't see the issue with the pressure. Maybe you could fill the amps with helium and just let them float around and not worry about mounting them at all. I sent you a text earlier. I figured you were probably standing in the driveway with the hatch open and staring lol. Sounds like I may not have been too far off
  9. My son and I plan to come!
  10. I have some spare time tomorrow. I'll see if I can cook up something and see what you think. what orientation are you looking for? Sub up port back?
  11. With aeroports you can get away with less port area but not that much. I looked up specs and found xmax at 22mm. I think you should shoot for closer to 200 in^2 of port area. 2 6" aeros are not even 60 in^2. Granted my Q has a higher xmax and I'm tuned fairly low but I have over 100 in^2 for one. On my SD X12 I jumped up port area on one of the boxes and there was a big difference in output. I'm not a pro box builder by any means. But I've built enough crappy boxes to learn a little haha. Edit: I'm looking at your print again. You have 12" dia port on that one. That would be 113 in^2 which is a lot better.
  12. What ohm load are you looking for?
  13. Crap that makes me nervous. My Q showed up bouncing around in the cardboard box. Small chip on the magnet but looked ok otherwise. Hope mine doesn't look like that in a few months.
  14. I've used spax screws. Pretty badass! They aren't easy to find around here though. HD carries them but rarely have them. Since they closed ACE I'm not even sure where to get them anymore other than online. Only downside I've seen is if you take them in and out a couple times they ream out the hole and don't grab well again. But I doubt it is something you'd experience.
  15. It should sound good. But it's all about expectations and what you think is loud. Amp will depend on budget and your electrical. Haven't personally ran a JL amp before. Tons of options out there.
  16. Nice!! Y'know I kinda like it without the trim piece. I've seen a car that had pearl flames that looked kinda cool. Not sure how that would look with the satin blue or if that is something you are even in to. Jon- I didn't take it as offensive.
  17. Understood. I'm a single Dad too most of the time. I had read it that he was going to have a lot of free time this week. Not a big deal, was just giving him a hard time. And I'm anxious to see how it looks
  18. Nice!! Still thinking about a c pillar wall?
  19. Watched vids. Some observations: Your tweeter jumped ship. Your new phone takes better videos. I didn't think you were lying when you said 5500 watts. Oh wait. LOL. Nice man. How does it compare with the new amp? And the big question....... what did they say was wrong with the PIO?
  20. Alright Steve. I know the sun has to have shined a time or two in TX. Yet I don't see any pics?
  21. Single cab is hard to design unless you have it in front of you or have really solid measurements. Especially wedge shaped. You can download Torres Calculator (free) and play around with it. Displacement is .10 ft^3 Sub depth is 6" Cut out diameter is 9 1/4" Outside diameter is 10 1/2" Shoot for around 33-35hz tuning and around 25 in^2 of port area 1-1.25 ft^3 net Usually port firing to the side works best for a single cab. Here is the link to the download http://www.mediafire.com/?haticgzfg9669f1
  22. Can you make it a rectangular box or does it need to be wedge shaped?
  23. not sure which model Sony's I have but I love them. they are huge and look like princess Leia when you where them. super comfortable and sound good. ear buds aren't comfortable after about 30 min for me.
  24. Goals? Tuning? Music you listen to? Daily?
  25. Yep that's how I do my songs as well. I save often, because I change it back and forth until I like it. Sometimes I get it so screwed up it's easy to just reload the save lol. I used to hate slowed stuff, but it kinda depends on the song. Megaslow I think is awful. But I heard the real version of I cook and think it's terrible. Although I've also heard megaslowed and thought that was equally as bad. In for the kill decaf version I love, but I think Laroux is kinda grating in real speed. Enough rambling. I do like some of the songs you mixed and dl'd them. Thanks!
